Some of the positive folks had no symptoms the article said. Wondering how often they are testing the crew members.
You do know that the world has an awesome record at beating Global pandemics. I hate seeing this attitude posted everywhere. We've beat dozen's of diseases we know what it takes, Vaccinations and people who can't get vaccinated to follow the rules.I disagree. Covid is never going away, so the sooner the cruise lines can prove that they can contain cases that will inevitably pop up, the better.
Maybe Covid eventually goes away but in the shorter term it's going to continue to smolder. And that's OK I think. Smoldering is much easier to avoid exposure and not have every hospital in a 100 mile radius packed to the gills like most of FL. Learning how to contain the smoldering is probably the most efficient way to proceed with living. You do know that the world has an awesome record at beating Global pandemics. I hope I'm not crossing any lines but you do know that this easy to avoid isn't working for Florida. 700% increase in cases and ton's of kids in the hospitals.Maybe Covid eventually goes away but in the shorter term it's going to continue to smolder. I hear you on that. I'm in NJ and while we've seen increases as well (mostly at the shore points), it's more like a smolder than being on fire. It's a balancing act and appears our actions and vaccination play a vital part in managing. Keeping a smolder at bay helps us avoid exposure and keeps healthcare from being overburdened.I hope I'm not crossing any lines but you do know that this easy to avoid isn't working for Florida. 700% increase in cases and ton's of kids in the hospitals.
What is your source on this? Just curious to know where the information is coming from. Unfortunately RSV is also driving up hospitalizations. Not normally seen this time of year.I hope I'm not crossing any lines but you do know that this easy to avoid isn't working for Florida. 700% increase in cases and ton's of kids in the hospitals.
How is the world do awesome at besting pandemics when 18 months later we’re still in this mess with no end in sight. Just curious
This makes me so sad...A vlogger on the Mardi Gras tested positive.
So 0.6% of the total people on board? That doesn't seem like any cause for concern. A larger percentage than that probably contracts the flu or some other virus every single cruise that has ever sailed.
Maybe, but there could possibly be dozens of passengers that were positive and were never tested or tested positive once returning. We would never hear about those. I just flew home from a great trip to Disneyland. I sat next to a lady who told me three of her vaccinated friends tested positive and one was in ICU. I have friends that work in hospitals. I haven't talked to them in a few weeks. I'm going to try to touch base with them and see what's actually going on.Yes! And if most were crew, that tells me that the social distancing/safety measures the cruise lines are taking for the passengers is working.

Two people entering from America into Canada with fake vaccine cards were fined almost $16,000 each. People always think they can get away with something and will always give it a try. Costly error!I hope so. On the radio this morning host said a 5000 fine. This was in regard to the 2 caught in Hawaii.
I hope he was mistaken and it was more. A lot more. Needs to be a lesson learned you won't forget.
It's probably in the best interest of cruise lines to test people before boarding. MSC has been doing that and they've been successful sailing throughout the pandemic. I know people don't like it, but we have no idea how well these vaccines are going to work. I know that's disappointing to people that put so much faith in them, but this is all new technology against a new virus.
I completely agree. But that doesn't mean I can't also feel badly for them as they get from here to there.I disagree. Covid is never going away, so the sooner the cruise lines can prove that they can contain cases that will inevitably pop up, the better.

Influenza, which routinely kills thousands every year? Or perhaps you're referring to the Spanish flu epidemic of 100 years ago, which killed over 50,000,000 people- conservative estimate? A pandemic that infects 1/3 of the world's population and kills tens of millions before dying out isn't something that we "bested".Ever heard of influenza?
