26 years ago tomorrow John Lennon was murdered...DO you remember this event? I was very young ,but I do remember the furor.

I was 20 years old, I'd been a Beatles fan since I was a kid. Of course I remember John's death.

so sad to have lost him that young.

hard to believe we've lost him and George.

I remember clear as day. My dad woke me up for school with the news. John Lennon showed at my first "real" concert Elton John. I loved him. The following sunday, friends and I took the train into the city and went to the Central Park memorial. Still gives me the chills. All those thousands of people and not a sound.

Yes, I remember it...I heard the news on the radio as I was getting ready for school. I went to tell my mom and found her crying...

It was a very sad day... :sad2:

I was walking down the stairs in my junior high school when the word started spreading through the halls. :grouphug:

Well is I 18 and watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cosell came on to tell the AWFUL news. I'll never ever forget that night.

I remember it well but wasn't any more saddened or upset by it than I would have been for any other person I didn't know.

I was only 6 (or almost) so I definitely don't remember it

8th grade?? Yep...just did the math...I was in 8th grade and I remember hearing about it in the morning on the radio when I was getting ready for school.

I was 26 with a 6 month old son. I was so shocked and so saddened by it. :(

I was 7, I guess. I remember knowing who the Beatles were and being surprised that any of the members were still alive. Anyone contained in black and white photos was supposed to be dead of old age, except my parents of course.

I was 7, and I definitely don't remember it at all. That surprises me because my mom is a huge Beatles fan. I was actually named after the Beatles' song, "Michelle."

I was in 6th grade and I remember my mom telling my brother and me when she woke us up for school. We would go to bed with the radio on for weeks after that because all they were playing was Beatles music.

I don't remember anything about it. I was 7 but my family and friends were not Beatles fans so I don't think it was discussed. I became a fan in college and now can respect what a tragedy it was.

I was a senior in HS. I remember turning on the TV the next morning and it was in the middle of the story and said "phones rang all night at Apple records asking, is he really dead?" I freaked out immediately because I had been getting Beatles records since 6th grade and knew what that meant. My mom had heard on the football game but didn't want to wake me up. I had friends at school who were HUGE fans and they were in tears all day. The local rock station played the Beatles A to Z and it took days. Then that whole Holiday season all the stations had "Happy Christmas" in heavy rotation. I still get teary the first time I hear that song every Christmastime.
Funny thing, this morning the song on the "oldies" channel when my alarm went off was "(just like) Starting Over" so this has been on my mind all day.

I was 24 and living in NYC at the time. I was also a HUGE Beatle fan and remember when they came to NY to be on the Ed Sullivan Show. My Dad brought us down to the hotel they were staying at and we just screamed and touch the brick... I was just thrilled to be that close to them.

My sister was the John fan, I loved Paul then and still do! When we found out about the shooting we were shocked. It just didn't seem real! The next day I went down to the Dakota to see the place it happened...it was a mob scene and no one was allowed near it.

I didn't go to the funeral, just watched it on TV. I remember them renaming that part of Central Park "Strawberry Fields." I just remember crying...HARD.. all day. I felt like I lost a legend.
