We are going to see a local production of this play today.

Have any of you seen it, either on Broadway or in a local theatre?

We were just given these last minute tickets and I know nothing about the play. What's your review of it?

Is it as fun as they make it sound?

Just curious and looking forward to it - thanks!

I haven't seen it yet but just got the soundtrack. It seems like a really fun show

We saw the touring production when it played in Tucson a few years ago. I enjoyed it, but my husband found it boring at times. He likes more of a plot in his broadway shows. He didn't care for A Chorus Line either, whereas I loved it.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical comedy with a small cast, and if I'm remembering correctly, there was no intermission. The adult actors/actresses play young kids competing in a spelling bee. All of the characters have their own little quirks. That's it in a nutshell.:) I thought the show we saw was very funny at times, and at other times, it did seem to drag a bit.

Let me know how you liked it!

It's adorable. I loved the show when I saw it in Boston. It's not super long. They pick people before the show to be onstage and spell words.

You'll have fun.

I saw it on Broadway and I didn't stop laughing the whole time. It was so funny, especially if you have ever seen the Scripps National Spelling Bee because some of those little quirks the kids in the real bee have are magnified in the show and it's hilarious. :rotfl2:

They get people in the lobby before the show to participate as spellers in the show. One guy at the show I was at was so good they were having trouble finding words to get him out.

I hope this isn't too late, but I saw it on Broadway a few times and loved it! I thought it was hysterical, and it's been one of my favorite shows ever since :). Enjoy!

I saw the show on Broadway. I thought it was really cute & funny and the songs were catchy!

You guys were so right! It was great!

Even my oldest son, the "too-cool-to-smile-around-my-parents" one, was holding his sides from laughing so much and even had tears rolling down his face at one point, lol. :rotfl2:

It was so cute and fun - what a great show. I even teared up a couple of times but then I guess I am a big sap, lol.

Thanks everyone!!

Great, great, great. I love the music, especially "The I Love You Song" which is absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking, and moving.
