25th Anniversary MagicBand

Cost them almost nothing (Compared to sending the regular MB) and making members feel special. What a great idea.
I am going to copy this over to the what perks would you like to see thread.

It wouldn't make me feel special at all especially if I didn't have a trip planned this year. But then I am very happy with getting nothing and feeling special all on my own with no help from DVC.

Sammie: you are obviously happy in your own skin, and appear to be stronger than my family not to be swayed by marketing incentives.

I assume you did not take some unplanned trips to Disney World because of the special $399 annual pass deal a couple of years ago (we did).

Not sure if including the DVC magic band would be enough of an incentive for my family to take an unplanned trip to the World this year, but since we go to Florida anyway, it might be enough to entice the four of us go for at least a day or two, and get four of those "special" DVC magic bands

I have not always been this way but realized pretty soon that only myself can be counted on to make me happy or feel special. No we didn't buy the $399 deal. Due to work we go once or maybe twice a year. We don't charge anything and never have but I figure everyone buys something at some time they could have easily done without. We are pretty frugal until we go on vacation and then we don't worry about it. I happen to like this offer and will get our two. I don't buy any jewelry so this is mine.

It is not as bad on this forum though we do have some grumps, who I like dearly, but DVC Facebook has gotten so bad I don't read it anymore. In fact they posted info about this MagicBand and the entitled, complaining, gimmee crowd got so bad they deleted the entire thread. It is actually very sad.

I have friends that work for DVC. I know how hard they work to put together anything for the membership. It truly is not as easy as everyone thinks. Dean seems to understand it better than anyone and articulated it very well in a thread this week. This is what he shared that is so very true and at the crux of DVC offering perks.
MOST of the perks aren't within DVC's control simply because they aren't going to pay and are at the mercy of the other entities. It's been a while but I've stated a number of times that I believe DVC/DVD could, and possibly should, more actively bargain for perks. I think there are some indications they are doing more in that area. The limitation they have is that to do so effectively they've got to be able to put pressure on the other entity and they really don't have a lot of power to do so. The other side has to be able to get something out of it or have a risk of losing something if they don't capitulate.

Disney is such a huge corporation of actually many very small pieces. Those pieces are very concerned about their budget, their growth, etc. They don't always work well together. And while to many it would seem easy for Disney Parks to give to DVC, ultimately, why should they. You can actually buy into DVC and become a "member" with much less of an investment than many spend in a week at Disney. So why favor those members over regular guests?

The Anniversary MagicBand is a little pricey for me but I like the idea of it possibly having the "extra" features (light, bells , whistles). We have decorated our free bands with skins. They are great!! We got some great holiday skins - Halloween, St Patrick's Day and Christmas. I think that is going to be the extent of our bling on MagicBands.

I was told magic bands are only supposed to work for 3 years due to the batteries inside. So I wouldn't buy a specialty band for 2 trips.

I have to admit that I'm considering buying it! I agree the price is on the high side, but I like the idea of more DVC merch.

They're on the app now- the red is showing sold out already but I was able to get one like 20 minutes ago. I wonder what time they were added, 5am? Because I checked after midnight and they weren't there.

Edit: All 4 colors, if I try to add it to my bag, they can no longer be added, so they must be sold out now. Wow that was quick. I wonder what time they went live? I must have just happened to search at the right time.

totally insane. they should not be sold out by 5am EST on the day of release, and they sure as hell should not have been up for sale at 3am!! Some people have to sleep because they have to get up for work today!
