Sorry upfront for the length of the post, but a couple of things.
First, I just looked at my credit card statement online and we got our 40% refund while we were still on the cruise on 9/30. Wow!!! There were 4 refunds - one that hit before the cruise (still not clear why after talking to
DCL), the main refund for our fare, and two other smaller refunds that they said were for taxes and other fees.
Onto the 25% credit, I sent an email to DCL Guest Communications this week saying that I didn't think it was fair for DCL to add the time restrictions to the offer because they didn't tell us that on 9/24 when they made the original offer. I've pasted the response I got yesterday (10/15) below.
Jill - note that the email says the offer CAN be combined. I wonder if it's a typo.
My concern continues to be that they didn't tell us that we had to cruise within a year to get the discount and with the Magic gone all next summer, there aren't a lot of opportunities to sail. I wonder if the offer they made verberally was a legal offer that they can't change after they have our agreement. I hate suggesting "legal" action, but I don't think DCL is being fair. Thoughts?
Here's the DCL response:

Thank you for your e-mail and for speaking with our shipboard crew.
This 25% discount offer is valid for a 3-, 4-, or 7-night cruise-only vacation package with
Disney Cruise Line commencing prior to October 1, 2005 excluding peak and holiday sailings. To redeem this offer, you must book prior to December 31, 2004.
This offer will be mailed directly to your home address next week. You will be receiving this
shortly.
Please understand that ensuring the satisfaction of our guests is our top priority, and maintaining consistency in the consideration given to our guests' concerns is an important part of this process. For that reason, while we would certainly appreciate the opportunity to welcome you aboard the Disney Magic or the Disney Wonder, we are unable to extend the expiration date of this offer. This consideration would be unfair and inequitable to the consideration we have given other guests on that same sailing. However, please note that the discount can be applied in conjunction with other applicable discounts and package offerings. I'm sorry for any disappointment.
We look forward to the chance to sail with you again soon.
Sincerely,
NAME DELETED, Guest Communications
