Just checking to see if anyone has heard any news about when the vouchers will be mailed.

Nope...still waiting.....I did receive my credit card statement for the card I used to book the cruise and the refund is not showing yet.

We were on the 9/18 Magic and we were told to expect a 50% off voucher within 3 weeks. We haven't gotten ours yet (nor have our friends that joined us).

I don't know if the 9/18 cruisers would get theirs before the 9/27 cruisers, but I just thought I would let you know that ours hasn't come yet either.

This Friday will be '3' weeks from when we got the letter saying to expect the vouchers in '3' weeks, so I am hoping to get it by then (but who knows).

I've talked to my TA about the voucher and she contacted Disney. She was told that if we were interested in a certain date/category to go ahead and book. When the voucher arrives, she can call Disney and have it applied to the reservation.

Hope this is helpful.

We had about half the 40% off deposited in our checking account a few days ago....I am not sure if the rest has come yet or not....I wonder if since we charged the $500 deposit, but paid for the cruise out of our checking debit if we will get it credit to both in partial amounts.....

No voucher yet here.

recieved our 40% refund yesterday on our mickey mouse visa card it was in 3 little bits but all there just my 25% discount coupon to go and i will be booking again for next year i love you mickey

When we were cancelled 11/29/02 we didn't recieve our vouchers for about 3 months. We were told the same thing...."book and when you recieve your voucher mail it in and we will apply it to your balance". They did. Remember, it only covers the trip, no transfers and no travel insurance.......at least it didn't for us.

We will also be receiving the 25% credit off a future cruise for our experience with Hurricane Jeanne. I'm looking for input here. When Disney made us the offer, they didn't give us any restrictions about the 25% credit. Since we've cruised twice in the last year, we were planning on skipping 2005 and sailing again in 2006 (especially since the Magic will be away for 6 months next year). I've heard the offer requires you to book the cruise before the end of the year and sail by Oct 2005. This seems a bit of "bait and switch" on DCL's part because they didnt' tell us that when they asked us to sail.

So two questions: does anyone know what the time restrictions on the credit will be and am I being unreasonable in wanting more time to use the credit?

I just think its wrong for Disney to make an offer and then add restrictions to it later.

You have correct information. To use the 25% off rebooking voucher you must book by 12/31/04 and then sail by 10/1/05. You may also want to inquire, but I think the vouchers are not good for "holiday" sailings either.

I thought the sailing restriction was a bit limited since the Magic would be gone all next summer (receivers of the vouchers would have to sail before May I think, or sail during 1 or 2 weeks in September) and I politely verbalized that to a DCL CM last week. I was told the "people on the West coast deserve a chance to sail" and "the Wonder would still be available for 3 and 4 night cruises from Florida". It was said to me a bit salty (not hateful), but definitely salty. I explained that certainly, none of us "voucher receivers" are trying to prevent others from sailing, we would only like to have a little more time to use the benefit we were given, was my only point.

So...with the restrictions in place, sadly we will not be able to cruise again until 2006. We are disappointed, of course.

We are trying to squeak in a 4 night cruise in 2005, as we had no plans on sailing in 2005 either. I just received a quote from DU on a 4 night for just over $860 (so with the voucher it would be just over $600) but it did come with info stating no other discounts could be applied....so I may need to book through DCL for the discount, which would be disappointing, and not nearly as inexpensive! But I emailed John from DU back to see what he could find out, so we shall see!

Well, not only were we not advised of any restrictions to this "25% off your next cruise" offer before accepting to cruise on the re-scheduled 9/4/04 Magic. There was no rebooking done while on the cruise because the 25% off "far exceeded" any previous offers. DCL stated this in the 9/10 Navigator.
I have sent a letter to DCL clarifying what cruises were available for re-booking with their current 10%/$200 onboard credit offer prior to and right after our cruise. We shall see if anything after October 1, 2005 was typically available for re-booking onboard other than during our cruise.

Just so you guys know, we got our voucher (well it was sent to our TA) on Friday, Oct. 15th from the September 18th Eastern cruise. I had called and checked and they were went out on Tuesday Oct. 12th. so maybe that will help you estimate when you should get yours for this cruise.

Here is what my TA (Dreams Unlimited) sent me about the terms of our offer (which was a 50% off voucher):

Here are the specifics and terms of the discount as listed on the voucher:

Valid for a 3-, 4- or 7-night cruise-only vacation with Disney Cruise Line
Travel must commence prior to 10/1/2005 and excludes any peak or holiday sailings
Non-transferable
Not applicable towards government taxes and fees, travel insurance, pre- or post-package resort nights, ground transfers, dining plans, shipboard charges, pre-paid gratuities or air add-on
Discount cannot be refunded and guest is responsible for any monies due over the amount of the discount
Travel must be booked prior to 12/31/2004
Original letter/voucher must accompany deposit (Dreams Unlimited Travel will take care of sending the voucher to Disney Cruise Line for you)
Discount CAN be applied to any current booking that meets the above criteria
Discount CANNOT be combined with any other discount or shipboard credit offer

This discount CAN be combined with Dreams Unlimited Travel’s current rebate promotion. The rebate will be based on the final cruise price after discount is applied

Sorry upfront for the length of the post, but a couple of things.

First, I just looked at my credit card statement online and we got our 40% refund while we were still on the cruise on 9/30. Wow!!! There were 4 refunds - one that hit before the cruise (still not clear why after talking to DCL), the main refund for our fare, and two other smaller refunds that they said were for taxes and other fees.

Onto the 25% credit, I sent an email to DCL Guest Communications this week saying that I didn't think it was fair for DCL to add the time restrictions to the offer because they didn't tell us that on 9/24 when they made the original offer. I've pasted the response I got yesterday (10/15) below.

Jill - note that the email says the offer CAN be combined. I wonder if it's a typo.

My concern continues to be that they didn't tell us that we had to cruise within a year to get the discount and with the Magic gone all next summer, there aren't a lot of opportunities to sail. I wonder if the offer they made verberally was a legal offer that they can't change after they have our agreement. I hate suggesting "legal" action, but I don't think DCL is being fair. Thoughts?

Here's the DCL response:

Thank you for your e-mail and for speaking with our shipboard crew.

This 25% discount offer is valid for a 3-, 4-, or 7-night cruise-only vacation package with Disney Cruise Line commencing prior to October 1, 2005 excluding peak and holiday sailings. To redeem this offer, you must book prior to December 31, 2004.

This offer will be mailed directly to your home address next week. You will be receiving this
shortly.

Please understand that ensuring the satisfaction of our guests is our top priority, and maintaining consistency in the consideration given to our guests' concerns is an important part of this process. For that reason, while we would certainly appreciate the opportunity to welcome you aboard the Disney Magic or the Disney Wonder, we are unable to extend the expiration date of this offer. This consideration would be unfair and inequitable to the consideration we have given other guests on that same sailing. However, please note that the discount can be applied in conjunction with other applicable discounts and package offerings. I'm sorry for any disappointment.

We look forward to the chance to sail with you again soon.

Sincerely,
NAME DELETED, Guest Communications
Disney Cruise Line

Got the response from John back....since Dreams often gets such low prices because of group pricing, the coupons will not be good on the really low fares dreams offers....but with the coupon and the non-grouping price, it is still pretty low.....

Although the 25% voucher doesn't suit my needs perfectly, I certainly wasn't expecting it, so I can't complain too much on the restrictions....still wish they were more flexible, though. Turns out Tim doesn't want to cruise next year (he thinks the 4 night will be a teaser, but I say 4 nights is better than no nights) so this will likely turn out to be a girlfriends trip....we'll leave the men at home. And for under $400 pp for the whole thing, it should work out well!

Make sure to check if you can substitiute someone. I thought I read from the ones who got the vouchers from an early September cruise, that the vouchers had to be used by the exact same people that were on the cruise that was getting the discount.

I don't have my voucher, my TA has it, so I can verify this, but just wanted to give you a heads up to check this out in case you can't use the voucher for a friend instead of your husband.

We haven't heard from our TA yet that she has recevied our vouchers or our refund. AS soon as she does, she's using them to pay for a second honeymoon cruise for my DW and I in January.

As far as the voucher restrictions, I can't remember, but I think they may have told me about those one of the times I called that weekend. However, from reading the boards and stories from earlier hurricane cruises, I was already aware that there were restirctions. Keep this in mind also, I have never heard of any special offer, discount or promotion that has not had restrictions. The compnay is adding a perk for going through with the cruise, not giving future cruises away. And we've read it before, they really aren't obligated to do much of anything, yet they have.

Sure I would like the vouchers to be more expansive, we want to book all five of us in 2006, that would be a great trip to knock 25% off of, but that's not the deal. Instead, we're doing 7 nights alone so that we can take advantage of the voucher.

I don't think there is any bait and switch going on here and legal action would probably be an incredible waste of time and resources. My understanding is that if the cruise is disruppted by an act of God, ie: Hurricane, the cruise line isn't obligated to refund anything. The fact that they did give us refunds, ship board credit and a discount pretty much midigates any potentail legal stance.

Nope, don't think it was literally a bait and switch. I think it was to a large degree miscommunication. Probably many of the DCL employees didn't realize there were any restrictions. This would explain qhy I kept hearing "25% off your next cruise." I for one can produce in writing this stated by DCL in the September 10, 2004 Magic Navigator. Normally, if there are strict conditions associated with such an offer it should be footnoted as such when put in writing.

To be told the 25% off your next cruise was the best deal possible, and no future cruises would be re-booked onboard, would lead someone to believe the 25% off is applicable to any cruise that would other be booked onboard with special pricing. I know people on the cruise immediately after ours booked October 2005 cruises onboard with 10%/$200 onboard credit. We shall see what DCL says.

I, as a business owner, would not like to be confronted with something I put in writing and did not footnote. I have made this mistake and when confronted was quite agreeable to any reasonable assumption someone would have come to due to my lack of proper writing skills. :D

Wow, you have got to be kidding me. I will call and see.

Yes, the vouchers are issued in the names of the people actually booked into the staterooms for the affected cruise and are nontransferable from what we were told.

Just got confirmation back from John at Dreams.....LOTS of fine print. But as the Doc said, non transferrable! SHOOT! I may convince Tim that 4 days is better than none at a great rate, still! Wish I had the fine print in front of me before I made my "hopeful" travel plans...it would have been a fun girls trip!
