I'm so grateful that you started this discussion.
I tend to set unrealistic goals for myself; ending up heavier and feeling more defeated by my deadline. So I'm hoping that, with the help of viewing all of your own personal goals/strengths and weaknesses, I too can shake off some of this weight by my family's vacation to Disney in March/April 2014. And also continue on a healthy (SAFE) path to reaching my Final goal weight.
Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment to get a consult on whether or not the symptoms I've been having are related to sleep apnea.
For the past couple of years, I've assumed that a restless night was typical for a new mother,.. but now that my daughter sleeps thru the night, and I have no reason to wake up 15-20 times; I think it's time get checked out.
Symptoms I'm having in addition to waking up that many times, or more a night are: sore throats in the morning, strained feeling in my chest, loud snoring, waking up to catch my breath in a panic and above all else feeling like a zombie every day.
I also have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which doesn't help matters with my weight. Hormones are all over the place; and I can't seem to get on the right medication to correct things.
I'm 238lb's, 32 years old and 5'6.
My goal weight is to be 145lbs (+- 10lbs).
When I met my husband in 2003 I was 138lbs, married in 2006 i weighed 144. So it's not unrealistic for me or my body type to be at that goal weight.
I've suffered thru depressions, anxiety/panic attacks when I was at a healthier weight and at this current weight. So I know weight loss isnt my only hurdle.. but I do know that getting down to a healthy weight will improve my life expectancy; and that is a driving force because of the life I look forward to each/every night. Waking up to my husband and daughters faces.
I'm wishing everyone the best!
GO TEAM!

@ Jenson...
I'm starting up walking again. Our dog is doing back-flips in his head I think..lol.
When I lost a significant amount of weight the last time I really committed to losing, I did 4-5 days at the gym and weight-watchers.. but the weight came right back when I couldnt keep up that life-style (becoming a new mom/working full time).
I think walking will be great for me while I try to get a handle on my sleep apnea and possible a thyroid issue. (doctor believes I have it, and I'll be getting a call to do a sleep study soon); once I have more energy from getting a restful night sleep, I can focus on preparing my foods early and starting a healthier diet.
Eventually I want to be very active.. and try not only to have a work-out regiment at a gym, but also get out and bike-ride or hike.. doing things with my daughter when the weather is warm enough.. just LIVE again.
Disney's goal for me, is to be able to walk around and not feel like I need a sit-down break or sweat like a total donkey in the first 15 minutes of our day.
I'd love to be able to loose 20lbs by then; but if I can avoid the above issues, it means more to me then what the scale may say.
