I was coming to post a similar story.

I kept getting the paypal was too busy message and kept resubmitting the order. It finally went through, but I noticed that the discount wasn't showing up so I canceled it and went back to TRU to try again. This time it went through pretty quickly.

Just as I finished my order, my phone rang and caller id showed that it was a cell number in CO. I normally don't answer unfamiliar numbers, but for some reason picked it up.

It was a guy who asked for me by name, and then asked if I had just ordered with TRU through paypal. He was seeing my order (and all of my info-address, phone, last 4 digits of credit card) on his order screen. His first concern was that he may have been paying for my order, his second was both of our privacy. According to what he saw, it was the order I canceled so he should be okay, but still.

He was going to call paypal and complain. I hung up and called paypal myself. The CS rep's response was less than satisfactory. She totally downplayed the privacy issue- "well, he could only see the last 4 numbers of your card." Hellllooooo, he shouldn't have seen any of my info! Supposedly, she was forwarding all of the information to someone higher up. :confused3

I called my new "friend" back and left a message telling him the results of my call. I haven't heard back from him yet. The whole thing is bizarre and to hear it happened to someone else is crazier. I figured it was a weird glitch. I'm not sure if it happening to others is a good thing or bad thing?:confused:
OMG! That sounds crazy! You might need to get back on the phone with Paypal and get someone with some authority on the phone and make sure your account has not been breeched in some way.
 
Okay, on the phone with Toys R Us. They will apply their own promo code for the $25 off. :thumbsup2 Call back, they are VERY helpful.
 
I have also called Toys R Us and received a new code, however it does not work so I am on hold again with them.............

The CSR's response to me was I "should change my password". Unreal.

She did check and nothing other than what I entered went through. I did change my password. The only thing that makes me feel better is that the poor guy who called me was more freaked out than I was...
 
I called TRU and they redid my order, same price and charged my visa for me. super nice and didn;t take too long.

I am off to check my paypal account now. :eek:
 
I just called TRS and although they were very nice, the CSR told me that paypal had pulled that promotion and it was no longer being offered. Darn it! I was hoping to get Guitar Hero for my son. Oh well! I'll try somewhere else.
 
I ordered around noon today. Haven't received a cancellation yet but it hasn't been charged to paypal yet either. Called the automated number and it said my order is being processed. Don't know what to think about my order.

When TRU processed my order it went though my bank account, not PayPal, and TRU still honored the $25 discount. :thumbsup2
 
The paypal isn't on the same page as the other checkout choices. You have to keep going.

If the promotion is dead, then I guess it doesn't matter.
 
Well, after trying all afternoon, I called. They said it was cancelled and there are 7000 orders that are cancelled. They said it goes through on their end, but not Paypal. He said it should be available again in a day or two when Paypal gets their act together.

Darn, I really wanted the new Rayman game for my kids! Hope they fix it soon!

OP, or anyone else, where did you find the code? I never get anything like that from Paypal, do they advertise it somewhere? :confused3
 
As far as I know my order has gone through and I have not received any kind of cancellation email.
 
I woke up to the dreaded cancellation e-mail this morning. It said they are working on a special offer for those affected by the paypal mess and that they would send another e-mail about that later.

I haven't recieved a cancellation and my order still says processing but I did get the same email as everyone else. Who knows.

On the phone with TRU right now. I never got the cancellation e-mail but I did get the other e-mail mentioned here.

They are giving me a new $25 code.

We will see if that works. I placed my order 1 minute after the promotion started yesterday.

I still have a pending charge from TRU in my paypal account.
 
I received an email saying my order is already being shipped. We'll see...
