Was checking my local Groupon and I noticed that GAP was today's deal:

http://www.groupon.com/stlouis/ (This is showing up nationwide - not just on your local Groupon - i.e. mine is St. Louis).

Below are the terms/conditions:

Complete Gap Terms and ConditionsOffer valid from August 19, 2010 through November 19, 2010 in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) and Canada only at Gap stores. Not valid online or at Gap Outlet, Gap Factory Store or The Gap Generation stores. Not valid on Keds® and Robeez®, or diaper bags and strollers at babyGap. Offer is good for one time use only and Groupon must be surrendered at time of in-store purchase. Discount applies to Gap merchandise only, not to GiftCards or applicable taxes. No adjustments on previous purchases. The value of the merchandise purchased must be at least $50. Not valid for cash or cash equivalent. Offer cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts, including Reward Cards and the Gap Inc. employee discount. If Groupon is not redeemed by the expiration date above, it may be redeemed for a $25 Gap GiftCard in U.S. and Canada Gap stores only. Not responsible for lost or stolen Groupons. Offer is not transferable. Cashiers: enter the code in the bottom-right corner of the Groupon.

how does this work? do they mail the coupon? or is it electronic after you pay the $25?

It's electronic. They'll email you when you can print it.

I posted a question on their site. The front page says that it can be used on sale items. The fine print says "cannot be combine with any other offer." Some places are a bit too overwhelmed by the amount of sales from groupon and they get picky about what it covers.

This is an awesome coupon! Just in time for back-to-school! I'm glad it can be used in either Canada or the States.

I left a question wanting to know if I can purchase two of these. Since I have 2 kids, I'd like to be able to make 2 purchases and apply 1 groupon towards each purchase.

Woo-hoo, I just got mine for the Oklahoma City area plus I had a $10 credit for referrig a friend.

I hope it can be used on sale items - let us know what their answer is!

Does each individual location usually make their own rules for Groupons? There are a bunch of Gap stores I could go to, so if one won't let me use it on sale items I'd just try another if each store is different.

groupon is down right now - and I didn't buy mine yet. hope it comes back up soon.

The site is down due to the overwhelming response - not surprised!!!! I'm getting one for me and a few for gifts!

I just got an email from Gap promoting the Groupon and it DOES state it can be used on Sale items....:cool1:

It's so busy and it won't click where it says Buy. It's frustrating and not worth my time.

I was able to get on using my local Groupon web address (Cincinnati). Going through the main site, I only got an error message. If you know the web address for your city, you may have better luck.

That's what I'm doing. I keep hitting Buy and nothing happens. It just sits there. I'm through the Grand Rapids location.

This was posted in the Cleveland groupon:

Everyone with site questions

Thanks for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience. We’re experiencing an unprecedented level of site traffic today and are monitoring the site all day.

If you’re experiencing some technical troubles with the site, I suggest trying to reload the page a few times.

If you continue to experience trouble and need to leave the site for a while, just check back before the end of the day and buy your Groupon then! This deal will be available until midnight.

Again, very sorry for the trouble.

Everyone with deal questions

Here’s some basic info about the deal today:

It expires November 19th.

It cannot be used online or at Old Navy, Banana Republic, or Gap outlet stores. It is good for babyGap, KidsGap, and GapBody.

You can buy and use a maximum of 1 of these, even if you are buying a gift.

This cannot be combined with other offers, including the Friends & Family deals. It is good for in-store sale items, however.

These are not transferrable, so the person whose name is on the Groupon must be the person who is using it.

If you have credits in your account, don’t worry, we’ll subtract those from the charge before we settle (even if we don’t mention this as you’re making the purchase).

HTHS everyone with questions.

I finally bought one! I hope to do a little Christmas shopping with that! Thank you to the person who did the heads up! and thanks to Soon2B4 for posting the rules. I was going to buy more than one, but wanted to be fair and follow the rules.

Be warned that on the Groupon.com site it stated to be used on sale items. The printed version does not state this. On the discussion boards, they said they tried to use it for the jeans deal and they wouldn't let them use it towards that. It may depend on the location. I think the reason it was declined for that was that if you buy enough jeans you get a pair for free. That might have something to do with it.

I'm still pretty happy with the deal though. I printed up 2 copies to keep and will put them up in the cupboard to be used later.

I used my Gap Groupon this weekend. They had a special on kid's jeans buy 1 get the second for $10.00 and buy 4 get the 5th free. I was able to use both specials and the Groupon.

$50 Groupon (I paid $15.00 since I had a $10.00 referral credit)
5 pair of jeans (buy 1 get 2 for $10x2 plus 5th one free)=$31.00
= $9.20 per pair

The employee was shocked that I got 5 pair for what oen normally sells for. And they fit my kids perfectly. And I can resell for what I paid or more at consignment when they outgrow.

I'm glad you got the deal! That's a really great deal. It may depend what location. Even if you paid $25, that would still be a good deal.

My kids don't like jeans so that's not a problem for us. That's why I'm saving it for Christmas.
