$240 for 10 day midsize rental, is that good? And other questions.

I found the rate at National w/ codes. We'd p/u at Orlando airport on Nov 12 and drop off Nov 22 (I think that would be considered 10 days). Is that a good rate? I've never rental a car before so have no idea.

Also, we're going to be visiting DH grandparents in Tampa for the first few days. To fly into Tampa the rental would be $40 extra to p/u at Tampa airport and drop at Orlando airport. Is it worth the extra $40 or should we just drive from Orlando to Tampa? Lastly, the conditions of the rental say "unlimited miles". Does that really mean you can drive as many miles as you want and not be charged for them? Or is there hidden fees?

We got a full-size from Thrifty for $150 for 10 days, but at the end of September. You may see higher prices since you are getting close to the T'giving holiday.

If you drop the car off at a different location, do you still get unlimited miles? Some agencies charge for miles, I think, unless you pick up and return at the same location (in which case, unlimited is truly unlimited - we drove from Orlando to Marco Island to St. Pete's Beach to Orlando with one rental car).

Well, I've got a midsize booked with Budget for 9 days (President's Week '06) for $177. This year over Easter, I got a midsize with Budget for 10 days for $198.

You could always go ahead and book the $240 rate, but then keep looking. If you find a better price, it's easy to cancel the orig. reservation and book a new one. I've cancelled and rebooked a number of times in order to edge my rate down and down.
