24 hrs at MK

I will be at WDW this year for the 24 hr event in May. I was wondering if the park reaches capacity that day. Do they do anything special at the park that day? Any special characters? Are all the attractions open for the entire 24 hrs?

1- Never has for that event.
2- Expect Tom Sawyer Island to close at night.
