Does anyone know if and when the 24 hour event will be in 2017? On my bucket list of things I want to do in my life. Is there somewhere they usually announce it? Does it require a special ticket or just a one day ticket?

They didn't have one in 2016 so nobody knows if it will happen in 2017. It did not require a special ticket.

I don't remember past ones having a huge notice maybe a few weeks before it happeend. I also think it's only been on leap day or first day of summer if they do it again and at the same time. personally, with cut backs, hours not as late as usual, it's not going to happen again unless there is another reason to do it.. I also want to do the next one so I'm crossing my fingers and toes

Is there somewhere they usually announce it if they do decide to do it? I only learned about it just after the last one so I am bummed it has not happened again.

They didn't have one this year and I would be surprised if they did again anytime soon.

We went in 2013 and 2015 - from one to the other is was quite disappointing.

2015 it was all about Disneyland and it was if they forgot about MK and suddenly figured they needed a theme .... Frozen. Treats etc were the same as you could already buy in DHS. They had special tshirts and at least this year you could buy in advance before they ran out. There was much less entertainment and characters .... it really felt like any other park day.

There is great cost to keep the park open all night but they don't make any additional money. From a financial point of view it makes no sense. I think we are more likely to see some pay events like the after hours happen at some point, especially once DHS is done, but while never say never ... I don't see them bringing it back. If something doesn't make them money, why should they spend money on doing it?

Disney Parks Blog usually announces it.

It usually coincides with some type of special day/event, but usually isn't announced until a few weeks before. I know you're looking forward to it, but be prepared, it's absolute madness.

I also think they probably won't do it again for a while...maybe for the 50th?
