24-Hour Day 2015 Tips

We arrived at the TTC at 4:45am for the Disney Parks Blog Tomorrowland meet-up. We had roped off viewing of the Welcome Show, breakfast at Cosmic Ray's, then were bused to DTD for a private screening of Tomorrowland. Great movie, must see! Got some movie swag and were given 5 Tomorrowland pins each to hand out to fellow dreamers. We were back at MK by 11:30am. Took a short break to shower and change clothes from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Came back to MK and stayed until 6am. Had a great time and didn't feel tired at all, despite being awake for 27 hours straight! Hardest part was not getting to sleep until 7:15am Saturday morning and Magical Express picking us up at 1:25pm Saturday afternoon.

That sounds awesome! My bus took forever to get back to our resort Saturday morning so we also didn't get to sleep until 7:15! It was a long day! But very worth it.

My friend and I ended up staying the entire 24 hours while only running on 4 hours of sleep! We managed to do everything except Hall of Presidents because we knew we would just fall asleep lol. We also enjoyed sitting by the castle for two hours which was nice because we could just relax and not worry about rushing. I did really miss not having celebrate the magic... anyone know if they did it later? Also I'm new here and just curious.. how do you make a default picture? lol

I have to agree with Hopper......it just didn't feel like anything out of the ordinary. But, then again, we didn't pay anything extra to be there. I did notice more less than wonderful behaviour though. One really good example.....we got to the Wishes FP area about 40 mins before Wishes. There were some people in there but not a ton. I did get to say hello to some fellow DISers...that's always nice. My dd, her friend, and I took spots right up against that back railing, beside a tree. It was funny to hear the CMs repeatedly yelling at guests to keep moving along the walkway behind us. People kept stopping so they had a decent spot. The CMs did an excellent job of moving them along. So...about 10 mins prior to the start of Wishes, I stepped forward about 3' to get a photo of something. As I stepped back to the railing, I banged into a woman who was leaning on the railing in exactly the spot I had just vacated! I said to her 'Ah, excuse me? That's my spot.' Her.... 'No, it's not, it's mine. It was too smushed over there so I moved here.' Me.... 'No, I've been there. Sorry.' Her.... 'No, I've been here all along, and I'm not moving.' Me...'Do you have a FP?' Her....'I have no idea what you're talking about. This is my spot.' Then, a CM starts screaming at her to get out of that area. Me....'You don't have a FP? Then, begone. You have no right to be here....begone interloper. This area is reserved. Begone!!!!' And off she went in a flurry of expletives. The CMs tried to find her but by that time the FP area was full, so they probably never found her. My dd just looked at me and said 'Begone? You just said begone???'

The crowds were okay. We didn't get to MK until about 7:00 and used our FPs. Then ate at CP while the storm hit. Missed that pretty much. At 4:10 my dd and I headed out. We were both suffering from colds so were exhausted by then. Dd's friend stayed on until 5:30ish. The funny thing is that when our bus came, a guy got off...at 4:30! I just looked at the driver and shrugged. The driver said that this guys brother had called him from MK and said to get over there, right now..the lines were crazy short.

Would I do it again? I doubt it.

I was at the 24 hour day. I hadn't planned my trip this way, but we were only there for the weekend, and this was one of the only weekends we could go, so there we were. It was me and DH. We got to the park right at 6. We had planned to take the bus from our resort (Caribbean Beach) and were there at 5:30. After waiting a couple of minutes, another guy waiting got on the phone to call someone because he'd been waiting 40 minutes! At that point, we decided to ditch the bus and drive. I'm not sure what ended up being faster, but I felt like driving was a sure thing whereas we didn't know if a bus would ever come.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant, so DH and I split up. He did Space, Splash, and Big Thunder while I did Pooh, Little Mermaid, and Pirates. Then we met up and did Jungle Cruise and Pirates. We had FP+ for Haunted Mansion and Peter Pan, and I had one for small world while DH had one for the Mine Train. The Mine Train went down during his window but it came back up shortly thereafter and he was able to ride. We also squeezed Philharmagic in there. By about 1 PM, it was very hot and I was struggling - I'd only gotten 2.5 hrs of sleep due to an issue with our room (that we did get fixed that day), plus it was very hot and I'm pregnant as I mentioned.

We went back to the resort and rested for awhile. Then, we headed to the bus stop. A bus pulled up, but was completely full and bypassed our stop. Again, we ditched the bus and drove. We saw Hall of Presidents. We had dinner reservations at BOG at 7:50. The 2 people ahead of us in line were trying to get in without ADRs. They apparently didn't know you needed a reservation. We were seated by 8 and out by 9. It looked like it may storm, so we exited during Wishes and were able to get back to the resort pretty quickly. I'd wanted to stay later but I was exhausted - pregnancy is making me unable to go like I used to!

All in all, we had a good day and I'm glad I was able to get a lot of attractions in while it was still cool-ish in the morning.

I was there for 24+ hours and saw 78 attractions attempting an Ultimate Challenge. I thought character lines were too long during the day and ride lines were too long overnight. I had planned for walk-ons after 3am and ended up waiting 30 mins for Space, 20 for Big Thunder and 20 for Jungle Cruise very late at night. Last year those were walk-ons at 3-6 am. I think the early closing of some rides combined with no special characters meant that the remaining crowd kept riding the same rides over and over instead of being spread out (or in a 3 hour Maleficent line).

I did really miss not having celebrate the magic... anyone know if they did it later?

I saw it at 12:15 AM. I know it ran at some point between 9:30 and 11, as a friend saw that showing. It did not occur at its 8:45pm scheduled time, as Wishes was moved earlier (about 8:55pm) due to incoming storms.

I'm not seeing any ride PhotoPass pictures from after 12am. I rode Space, Splash and Buzz in that time frame. Anyone else missing photos? I have lots of character photos and Mine Train photos from 6am through midnight.

Did she see any of the illusive DC Stars at the Party-I hope so!:)

We didn't see any! We did go to Club Chill but DD had SO much fun she said she didn't even care she didn't see any of them. I think she had fun looking and sort of day dreaming about running into one anyway! We had a lot of fun but even with a big nap in the hottest part of the day she hit the wall earlier than I originally hoped. We had so much fun though and would definitely be down to try again!

Priceless, would have paid extra to watch you "begone" her!!!

Now that we had caught up with our sleep and drove home 8 hours today ..... we talked it through and decided we probably would not return for another 24 Hour event, particularly if it's Memorial Day Weekend and not a new truly creative theme with potential to be more than just extra magic hours for all.

They did Celebrate the Magic about 20-30 minutes after Wishes. I stayed in the FP area for a little while and then started walking towards Tomorrowland and it started, so i found a spot on a rail to watch. There was no warning - it just started.

Thank you for sharing this! She loved it!

I did think there was going to be more special stuff than there was. Of course being there at all is pretty special to begin with  We actually got on Space Mountain late and some of the lights were on so that was the highlight for us as we have always wanted to see that! I yelled that was ... Amazing! Like the kid in The Incredibles when we "landed" :rotfl2:check that one off the Ol Disney bucket list!

DD and I went! We are local residents and she had end of course exams to complete so we arrived at 2 pm! We sat right on the curb and watched the 3 pm parade and she was really excited to see many of her favorite Disney stars! After that we headed to Tomorrowland for some rides, and to visit my other daughter who is a CM! While sitting outside the Space Mountains bathrooms I turned around to see Peyton List and Sky Jackson on their way to the stage. DD asked if she could try to say hi. I said sure and she ran up And was able to get a selfie with Peyton (who was really nice!). This made DD's day! She also got to see Maia Mitchell on the stage a little while later. Totally made the day worth it for her!

Awesome!:)

Peyton did an appearance close to where we live last Summer and she seems like a really nice young lady.

I just hope she never gets on th Miley Cyrus Highway!lol:)

I was there with DH and 3 small kids (3,5,8). We got there about 7AM and only stayed until about 7PM. I have to say, it all worked out for us. We rode a lot early in the day - barely any lines. Our FPs started about 11AM, and when those were done around 2PM was when it really started getting busy. We just kept getting FPs. They didn't have any available for certain rides, but we were always able to find something good in the next few minutes. We had a BOG ADR for 5PM, which was a great break from the insane heat. We got to see the Genie with Jasmie and Aladdin, which was a surprise. My kids were so excited. We also got to dance with the Incredibles, which they loved. There was practically no one at the dance party in the early afternoon. That evening we watched the fireworks on a practically empty beach at Fort Wilderness (where we were staying), which was very peaceful. We didn't set out to do this event - just happened to be the last day of our week long trip and we already had ADR when it was announced. So all in all, I did expect more special touches, but we still managed to have a great day. I'm so glad we were gone before the insane crowds though. When we were boarding the boat back to WL around 7, there were herds of people entering!

The highlight of my kids' day - especially the birthday boy (Anson) who dressed as the Genie for Halloween

We didn't see any DIS people that day (at least I don't think we did). We wore our "special" ears for the occasion - with Cinderella on one and the White Rabbit with his watches set to six. We went to the Tomorrowland showing at DTD and enjoyed the movie. Loved the fact that they wanted us to give out those Tomorrowland pins to other people - we accomplished that the next day at POP while we were sitting out front by the bus lines. People were very surprised (and happy!). I was really happy to win the contest, but I think that was our downfall for the day - we didn't get back to the park until after 11:00 am and by then it was hot, hot, hot and crowded. If we'd stayed, we would have had some kind of momentum going. As it was, we went back to the room in the early afternoon and came back in time for the WISHES FP. We were in the west side, but all the way over to the left in the back, so we could lean on the rail. We ended up in Frontierland to wait for the parade, but then the storm rolled in. We finally left around midnight, since the lines for everything were just too much. Like others have said, there really wasn't anything "special" going on, other than the fact that MK was open for 24 hours. I might give it another shot, but learned my lesson and will accomplish more in the early morning next time.

Yep, it just seemed to fit the whole 'Castle theme'!!!!
I'm not sure I would do it again either. Yes, dd and I were pretty sick..hard to clear up a cold in that humidity!!! But, it just didn't feel special at all. Maybe if we had been there at rope drop in the morning, returned to the resort for a rest/swim, and then returned around 8ish, it would have been better....and being healthier!!!

I was just so underwhelmed with some things on this trip. But, that's probably the icky way I felt talking. I'll see how it goes in Dec!!!

I'm with @HopperFan. Why on earth didn't they incorporate Inside Out into the theme? What was the point of handing out the buttons at the beginning of the day then have nothing else related to that movie for the rest of the day? It felt so random. Obviously, the point was marketing. No subtlety there. They seriously needed to put more thought and effort into this event. Lost opportunities everywhere. With all that said, this was my first 24 hour event and DH and I had a fabulous time. I just expected more after all I've read from previous 24 hour events.

Edited to add: We did stay the whole 24 hours too! I was so proud of myself and never even got that tired until the very end. Then our bus to POP took 25 min to arrive at MK and I was pretty upset. After a 24 hour event they should have buses waiting for us!

I was at Disneyland for the 24 hour day which included California Adventure park 24 hours. They did incorporate a "theme" as it was the kick off to the 60th Anniversary Celebration. I guess it reall wasn't a theme but just the extra celebration. HOWEVER that made the parks incredibly busy, which really wasn't too terribly noticeable inside the park (except the 20 minute lines for the ladies restroom and food) until after all FP distributed for the day made ride lines 40+ minutes. The big annoyance was for those shut out in early afternoon once the park reached capacity. Also meant you could not leave park for a rest since you were not going to be allowed back in. So if I do a 24 hour event in the future I would prefer it NOT be themed. Sounds like MK was overall more enjoyable that day than Disneyland/California Adventure.

Are we still meeting up at the Wishes viewing area on the Casey's side? Y'all may have to wake me up by then. My daughter and I are trying to do this 24 hour thing on just 2 hours of sleep after driving down late last night.

Sorry I missed this during the event! Flight/got into my room at 1:45am the morning of the event, thought my phone charger was working but it was lose on the socket and didnt charge for the event, and miraculously made it 24+ hours on 10% battery.

I had a good 3 feet of space all around me in my area. From a photographer's perspective, I am not exactly thrilled about the view. But it was still a really pleasant experience. It was hilarious after the show just laying in the 'grass' watching the chaos ensue all around me (plus the lightning "after show" was cool too) o_O :D
