Any info would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks! :)

I am in the medical field, but am not too familiar with home equipment, but you should be able to call the home care company with any concerns, they have people on call 24 hours a day. As far as having sore throats, oxygen is very drying, unless the gas is passed thru humidity first. That could be the cause of your husbands sore throat, but not yours. I dont believe that the heat from the machine is causing that. Hope this helps:)

You can get extra long o2 tubing so that you can put the machine in another room, cuts down on the noise as well, so DH may sleep better. Also, the machine with its warm air is probably drying the air out in your house. That would be causing the sore throats. You can boil some water on the stove to add some humidity back, buy a humidifier, or use saline nose spray/drops, which will moisturize your oropharyngeal area.

Best of luck!

Is there any question you can't get an answer to here on the CB ?????

I absolutely LOVE it.. Used to use search engines all the time - now I just come here instead!! LOL :)

Thanks for the info!

DH used to work for a company that made those kinds of machines. I asked him, and even before he read Lucys reply he said exactly the same thing...You can get longer tubes to put on it and then leave it in another room.
Good luck! Continued Prayers & Pixie Dust to you and DH!

Yeah what Lucy said!!

My mom has one of those machines with extra long tubing so it actually sits in another part of the house.

Thanks all!!

Just amazes me the wealth of knowledge on this board..

My feelings exactly. I always come here first for answers.

C.Ann;
My MIL used to have the same thing for years and she used to have a 100' tube to be able to move around the house and the machine was in a roomall by itself, it cut down in sore throats and also rhe noise but don't forget to check it everyo now and then.

Agree with Lucy and all. My Mom used a machine like this when she lived with us for a few months after surgery. The machine stayed in one place and we had Oxygen tubing lying all over the house!!! The cats loved it!! Had to break them of that habit though...even though that tubing is very strong. Mom found that carrying the excess tubing in a light tote bag on her walker (with a big opening to let the tubing come out when necessary) helped with the mass of tubing that would end up on the floor otherwise. DD was a toddler at the time and was always tripping over it.;) If a humidifier is not contraindicated it will help with the dryness in the air that the machine causes. Wouldn't go the "pan on the oven route" if you are easily distracted (like me) and might tend to forget the dang pot!!
