Here's hoping the morning brought bright sunshine and good news from your daugther. You are in our prayers.

DD is home now..They did keep her overnight for a variety of reasons, but kept her in the ER - where she was in a room with sliding glass doors that were kept shut.. (She chose not to go to the horrid ER that is closest to her home, but another hosptial with a better reputation that is a bit further away..) So - the "germ" thing was not an issue..
Everyone was very careful (staff) about washing hands, wearing gloves at various times, etc..
The CAT scan and MRI showed that she has "fatty liver disease" - which can be caused by a variety of things.. She has quite a few deposits and will be having a biopsy done at a later date (when she's not in as much pain or feeling as sick as she currently is) - on an outpatient basis.. They were also able to determine that her hiatal hernia is significantly worse than it was 2 years ago..
The main reason they kept her there until today is that those numbers were just far too high (given the condition of her liver) and could have rapidly progressed to something much more serious.. With that in mind, they wanted her there where they could keep a close eye on her.. She was also severely dehydrated, so they really wanted to push some IV fluids.. By today the numbers had dropped somewhat - enough that they felt comfortable letting her come home - and provided her with a list of symptoms that would require her to return to the ER immediately..
She also began to have severe stomach spasms in the ER last night - which could be related to this or could be a sign of an ulcer - so they were giving her anti-spasm medication along with the pain medication..
DD is sleeping (I spoke with her MIL - as well as my son-in-law a little earlier), so I'll call again later to see how she's doing..
Thanks for all of your prayers and good thoughts.. It really means a lot..
I guess we have a "diagnosis" now - at least a partial one - and we'll just have to see how things progress from here..
She had been doing good - for months now (other than minor stuff) - and we were so hoping that she had finally jumped the hurdle and was going to stay that way.. At least she was able to enjoy all of the time she spent up here at the lake this year before things went haywire again.. Once they get to the bottom of this, maybe she'll be in the clear for a length of time again.. That's what we're hoping and praying for..![]()
Thanks for the update! I'm glad she has a diagnosis, and was treated well at the ER.![]()
