23 Girls.....If you had to choose.....

You had a couple questions, I'm guessing AK breakfast buffet is at Boma, and HS breakfast is with the Disney Jr. characters.

The trip sounds great! We're planning on taking our troop in a couple of years to Savannah then on to Disney! Are you doing matching shirts? We plan to do shirts for the whole trip (Michael's 2/$5 of course). Are you wearing uniforms?

Fort Wilderness is a lot of fun and the breakfast or dinner buffet would be great. Basic food, lots of kid-friendly choices. Plus lots of things to see - the horses, petting zoo, pony rides. Very scout-friendly. They even have an area for scout troops to rent for group camping there.

The good thing about your trip is that most of the girls will be 9 and under so the cost will not be as outrageous as it could be!

Have a great time - from one scout leader to another!

Thank you so much for your incouraging words! Yes we will do matching shirts, one for each day. My parents own a T-shirt business, so I can get them way cheap. We will wear our vests I know on the day of the celebration and probably during the yes programs. I dont know about the other days. I have thought about the group camp, but having to either 1.) eat out dinner every night, or 2.) cook over a camp fire for ever after a long tired day of activites....Im just not for that! So Im thinking off site homes will be our cheapest bet. They actually have discounted tickets for the 100 year celebration for scouts, so their age actually isnt a factor this time.

Since you are taking girl scouts and doing the yes program, I would call Disney's Youth Marketing and Sales to set some things up for your group. My friend did her professional internship in that department. I know they can give you really great group rates, and set up special events as well. Maybe they can help you set something up since it is such a large group?? I remember (many years ago) when I went to Disney with my high school dance team, that we had dining accomidations at Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood. We had a breakfast buffet with characters at Planet Hollywood, and the place was reserved for just us and a few other youth groups. When we ate at Rainforest Cafe in AK, we had a pre-set menu where we could choose from about 3 different items. Hope you have a wonderful trip!! We will be there in May as well.

With girls that age, I would definitely go with one of the Princess meals. 1900 PF would be cheapest, if they can accommodate your group. When I was that age, dining with princesses (CRT only, at that time) was much more exciting than dining with any of the non-face characters. My next choice would have been afternoon tea @ GF . That would have made me feel like a princess.

Thanks for that heads up!

I am leaning towards 1900 PF too! That would be a good 1st night!!!

For the girls, I would choose Crystal Palace breakfast at the earliest seating and either WCC or Chef Mickey for a dinner. Get those characters in there to meet the girls and vice versa! (Character meals,) as for regular meals WCC offers a lot of entertainment sans characters.

I brought 40 kids in 2006, and we did the AK breakfast buffet. At the time it was Donald's Safari Breakfast at Restaurantsaurus (sp?). Now, it would probably be at Tusker House. I highly suggest that you call Rainforest Cafe at AK and inquire about their breakfast buffet (for groups only) and lunch menu. Also call Planet Hollywood in DTD (not one of my favorites, but great for groups & the kids will love it) because they have very reasonable group menus available. Otherwise, I would consider doing a meal at Whispering Canyon for lunch (for the antics, unlimited skillet option, & vast menu). 1900 Park Fare would be fun, but I think it's $10 more that most breakfasts, which wouldn't be cost effective for tight budgeting. I don't know where you're staying, but I was able to get CS meal vouchers through the YES office for my group. They were great b/c I knew that every child's CS meals were completely paid for w/o worrying about them spending their meal money. We were able to use the CS vouchers at most CS in the Disney parks & they included an entree, side, beverage, and dessert (similar to the dining plan's offerings). Have a great trip! If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for the ideas. Yes they gave me the info on the CS Meal Vouchers and I am considering that, as it would be helpful to know that it is taken care of in advance.
