WOW...they doesn't look like $350 lol. We've got a lot of thinking to do!

I agree! :rotfl: Based on the FlyboyNaturals site, that is basically the equivalent of one cup of coverage per square foot... which you could buy there for a looooooot less! Like $100 - $200 for one cup coverage, depending on runner size (77 in - 65 in wide). After a quick search online, seems most runners come in 36, 45, and 60 inch widths. I would probably go for the 60 inch, but dang are they expensive! And that is just plain white fabric! 36 inch wide runners start around $100. Like I said before, I suggest you run to a fabric store and buy some white muslin, it'll be like, $1-$2 per yard that way (you'll only need 18 yards). All you would have to do it clean up the edges that were cut at the store. :thumbsup2

I'm just having the Unity Candles and a few petals that i'm bringing myself on the alter table and that's it. I think the WP is really pretty anyway.

Wow thats not alot fo rose petals for that price! SHEESH!

And i think the WP is stunning with out any decor. I'd do some pretty arrangements on the alter and leave it at that... I dont like aisle runners and althought i like rose petals i think i like them more for an outside setting like SBP or the YCG.... they kind of get lost in the carpet at the WP. But thats IMHO. And its definatly not something i'm going to be focusing on when i get my wedding pictures back so i'd cut it if you had to.

Thanks for the feedback. I am not sure where the green/orange/pink/black comes in thought. The ceremony is mostly pink but with touches fo green (Like Lauren's dress) The reception will have green linens with copper napkins, those are to coordinate with the lanterns and copper candles. The cake table is the only table with black lines and that will have the cake on. It's not like there will be pink near the copper, ya know?

Orange wasn't the best word. :) I think separately the two color schemes look great. I was just wondering about it all together. I realize that the black and pink will be away from the rest, but it just seems it could look odd. I brought it up though, because if you did change your mind about some of the colors, then perhaps the linens/napkins wouldn't be as much.

I still think it's sill to spend money on the runner and petals, especially when the carpet matches your color scheme. :)

But the carpet is sooo ugly! :rotfl: And I dunno, this is the only opportunity she will have to use an aisle runner (unless you end up on the red carpet somehow Mandy! :rotfl:). If she can find a cheaper way of doing it, I think she should. :thumbsup2 And perhaps you could just do a custom aisle runner with no petals lining it. Have a white runner with a think, pink edge sewn around it. You will still get your splash of color down the aisle, but without the added cost of petals. But it is up to you guys. Ask Eric if he envisions the runner for our wedding. :thumbsup2

I'm going to weigh in, after seeing the WP on another thread where they didn't have the runner or petals, I go without it also. I'd spend the money elsewhere. For the few short minutes it's really not worth the money. If it were an outside ceremony, then I would do it, not inside.

You have a minimum to meet and it's up to you to decide where you want to spend it. You just have to decide what's most important. In my family it would all go towards food and drinks, it's a personal decision and you do what makes you and Eric the happiest. Remember it may be your second marriage, but it's his first and it's both your last.

Here's they way you really need to think of it. You're only there for a very short time. People are focused on you, not the rug. When people go to a wedding they never remember the decor, they may remember that it was beautiful building in a wonderful setting, but the rug or runner with petals is lost. They will remember the food, if it was good or bad, if there was enough of it.

We just went to a way over the top wedding. Here's what we all remember, the place they had it was gorgeous, the cocktail hour blew our socks off, the chicken at dinner was horrible, the dessert was out of this world. Couldn't tell you what color table linens were, or any other small details. Flowers, couldn't tell you. Can say we thought the centerpieces were over the top. I do know that this wedding cost over $150,000 way over. So much of it was lost.

Now I payed attention to things, because we're planning a wedding here, it's why I frequent the boards. The wedding we just went to actually brought my daughter back down to earth. Three days later I said to her now what do you remember. Her light bulb went on, she got it.

Almost 3 months later, we were all together including the MOB and bride and we got into wedding conversation. Again it was what did everyone remember. Food, was the big thing oh and the martini bar and that the band was really good and we had a blast dancing.

Oh and the only favor I ever remember receiving was a bottle opener, because later on we needed it back at the hotel to open beers. (I was much younger and I still have it and use it). The wedding I just went to couldn't tell what the favor was and I know I don't have in the house. Now that's a waste of money.

I bet no one at our wedding remembers anything about the carpet in the aisle. I'm not even sure, I'd have to look at photos. Same with table linens and other minor things like that.

When people talk about our wedding, they mention the food and the music (we had a lot of dancing at our reception.) And quite a few female guests also mention my dress and flowers.

LOL :lmao: I added a bunch of food too and cut!!! It is much easier to add everything you want and then cut. I was dying to have creme brulee at my DP but we decided to cut it. My wedding planner was really nice though and made sure I had my own personalized creme brulee at the DP. :goodvibes

No, the people attending the wedding probably won't remember it, but that is not really what I am getting at. She will have to look at the carpeting in pictures for years to come. So, if she really despises the carpeting, cover it up. If she doesn't mind it, save some money. ;)

Photoshop out the carpet and put in the runner and petals. ;) problem solved. :lmao: and money saved.

If you are good enough at photoshop! And plus, when you get your photos from a photographer, you are technically not allowed to edit them in such a fashion, like combine elements of one photo with elements of another outside photo (where the aisle runner and petal would come from). If anything, the photographer would have to do it, assuming they own the rights to a photo of the runner and petals, but not every one has such a photo or is skilled enough to do so. ;)

I would pass on the aisle runner and aisle petals. That is a hefty price for something that won't be seen for more than a few minutes.

I do think you should keep the petals for the toss. Those make really awesome exit photos. Did you have petal cones in your BEO?

Even though it the runner seems like a lot of money for a small amount of time, if it's important to you, you should get it. I definitely want the upgraded linens at the reception, I know most of our guests won't notice or care, but I will notice and that's all that matters.

Every bride has something she just wants, and maybe it's not the most rational, or cost effective thing, but it's what she wants. For some it's the carriage or characters or a really expensive dress... so in the scheme of things $260 for an aisle runner is actually getting off pretty cheap!

Once you get your full BEO you'll be able to really decide. Hope you're having a great trip!

I agree that if it's something she truly wants, then she should do everything she can to get it (while staying in budget).

I honestly don't think the carpet is bad and I don't remember seeing it in many pictures. If she is set on a runner, then I would look at outside sources. I think the idea of a ivory runner with pink trim is MUCH better than petals.

Since she hasn't gotten the other BEO yet, then this conversation may be for nothing. :) Still if I had to choose between a runner/petals and better food, food wins every time. :thumbsup2

One of our fav pics is the petal toss one. The whole reason I got petals was for pics. I loooove that picture. I personally don't think they are a waste of money.

Here is my opinion on the aisle runner. I never knew there was such a thing until I came on the disboards lol. Yes the WP carpet is ugly. But you can't cover up the whole carpet. So looking back on photos you are still at the altar and everywhere else up front going to have lots of ugly WP carpet showing. So covering the aisle doesn't solve the problem of getting rid of the ugly carpet so I think the 260$ could be used elsewhere. Apply that money towards the Roots since they are significantly more than any other photog you were looking at. Or at somethign else that matters for more than 20 mnutes IMO.

Hope you are having fun traveling! Be safe :)

Ya know, all of this debating is over the runner, when I am pretty sure it is the petals we should be talking about! :rotfl: In her previous post, she said she loved the look of runners. That was probably a my bad for getting off topic! :rotfl:

I like just the runner option too. You could always cut it up after the ceremony and make it into a table runner or something (if you have a little wedding display on a table at home), or frame it, as that one bride did. Or make it out of a tarp initially and have a HUGE slip-n-slide afterwards! :rotfl: Just kidding. ;)

And plus, after thinking about it, petals lining the aisle is a much more traditional thing to do, but with Mandy's streamlined, yet classic style dress/birdcage veil and alter decorations, who knows, a lack of petals may be the way to go. And since the petals are way more expensive than the runner, it would be a nice savings. :thumbsup2 Kind of like this, similar with column set up and what not (granted, there is that blanket of petals look thing going down the middle, but I thought it nicely showed how a two toned runner could possibly look. Ignore the texture! ;)): http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30615350&postcount=2

You could always buy some boxes of the fabric petals from a craft store for a petal toss photo. Sure everyone may not be able to toss some, but you get the picture in the end!

You can't toss fake petals outside at WDW, it could harm the animals and birds. But you could definitely buy enough freeze dried petals for a toss for not too much money, and like Sarah said, maybe not have everyone toss them.

Ah yeah, I forgot that at the WP, the staged exits are outside on that walkway. For some reason I thought they were inside! :rotfl: Long day. ;) So you would need freeze dried for that.

Sorry, I'm not completely caught up on this thread. Has it been suggested that she do her own runner to cut costs and skip the petals? I read both Caryn and Lindsay's PJ/TR's and the aisle runners that Caryn did for those weddings turned out fabulous. If the carpet at the Wedding Chapel really is an issue for Amanda, then the aisle runner would be enough to cut out most of it even without rose petals scattered.

Sorry if this has already been debated over.... off to do some back reading.

Edited: OK. I do see that this has been under serious discussion. From various pictures that I've seen of different weddings held at the Wedding Pavilion, I honestly think that it would be fine with a nice runner and no petals.
