22 Sept 2012. First Sailing Out Of Galveston, TX

It's finally warmed up! The past three days have been absolutely amazing! The temperatures have been reaching the mid 70s (which is scorching hot for here) and it's been super sunny!

Where should we meet for our 3:00 meet and greet? Perhaps a lounge area?

For the list:
-baby powder (great for gettting sand off feet--or so i've heard, as well as other things)
-traveling bear (or am I the only one who has a bear that likes to travel...my husband does think I'm crazy)
-passports
-laundry bag
-tissues, ec for excursions...

Hi, y'all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Nancy and we just booked today with the "verandah stateroom for ocean view price". There are three adults (myself, my husband Jon, and my dad Rob) as well as our son who turns 4 on September 22! I'll try to catch up with all the posts, but I look forward to meeting y'all n September!

Champagne, boas and tiaras? Count me in!

How are you feeling, Jill?

Your my kind of gal Sheri! :rotfl2: Be sure to pack that pink boa and tiara!

I'm doing good thanks for asking. I had to put the surgery off until the week after we get back from the cruise.

We should meet in the Promenade Lounge on deck 3. It is behind Lumiere's and before you get to Parrot's Caye for those new to the ship.

I grew up going to Galveston every weekend but I never heard of the baby powder thing. Guess it might work :confused3.

Last year on the transatlantic cruise there was a lady who brought her stuffed bear, Kirby. He was HUGE! Almost as big as her. She made the servers carry him into each restaurant and sit him at the table. He had his own seat and place setting. She would make the servers actually bring him meals and drinks! :confused3 :rotfl2::rotfl2: She had his picture made with all the characters and took him to all the shows. She was the talk of the ship. So see, You aren't so crazy, she is! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:welcome: Nancy. So nice you could join us. How awesome your son will have his birthday on the 22nd.

More for the list.

sunglasses
boas and tiaras :rotfl2:
Imodium (just in case)
sea sick meds if needed

I find a hang over the door shoe holder is great for organizing your stuff. You would be surprised at how much you can but in that. There is limited space in the cabin and those are so awesome for utilizing space.

The 3:00 meet and the girls party sounds great! We will be there. So far this week we have all got our pirate costumes and ordered our fish extender. Oh yeah, and began getting supplies to make fe gifts! I am thinking of ordering some sea-bands. I think I am going to start a packing list in the next couple of days. So exciting!!!

CHAMPAGNE GIRLS

Ladies.... bring your pink boas and tiaras and join the "Champagne Girls" Please sign up on the Champagne Girls sign up sheet at:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjT2D3FyenWQdFVKNVNpemJUdlR5bGp3T09lMmZMc2c#gid=0

This is a fun event. Details will be out soon. We will pick a time on a sea day to meet and enjoy a glass of your favorite drink (does not have to be alcoholic). Looking forward to seeing all you ladies there! If we are able to get at least 20 ladies to join then we can plan for a Champagne tasting.

Just thought of a "must have" for us on a cruise........a cheapo waterproof watch for everyone. I don't like to take electronic things near the pool area, so the cheap watch is a great way to keep track of the time.

That's a good idea Sheri. I always wear a waterproof watch, being a scuba instructor may have something to do with that....:cool1: Ohh and of course it is a Mickey watch :rotfl2: DH wears one just like it only bigger ... you can buy them on the ship but it is not cheap.

Another thing to think about is a waterproof bag to use at the beach, pool, on any boats you might go on etc. You can buy them either online or at a dive shop. I think you can also get them at some sporting good stores.

is making the fish extender for her cabin and the gifts. We planned it together but she is the crafty one ;)

I can't wait to see!!! I'm so excited for this cruise! AHHHHHHH. Calm...only 2 months to go!:cool1:

I just looked at the FE list--and it's tripled since the last time I looked. I am making FE gifts for both of our cruises and I only orderd 50--looks like I need to order some more!

Sarah... I am so excited too :jumping1:

Isn't it wonderful how our FE is growing. We will need to decide if we need to split it up if we get too many people. Any thoughts on that? We could have 2 groups and anyone can be in 1 or both groups. Do you think I should start a new group?

I've never split the FE before. We have about 20 rooms right? I don't think that's too many for one group. On the Dream MV we had about 100 rooms and kept it all in one group. Being that we have a lot of new cruisers, the 2 groups might get confusing.

I agree... On the Transatlantic we had 5 groups and I joined them all. I love doing the FE. so like you.. it just can't get to big for me either.

Hello to one and all. I've not been on the boards much, but have been keeping up with the posts.

I completed all the pre-cruise chores this weekend, well most of them. Did on-line check in; made reservation to park the truck at the post while we are gone; got a place to sleep the night before that was a bit more reasonable than the first one. :thumbsup2 Have a sitter set up for my fur babies :dog::dog2:
We have excursions and ship activites set up also:cool1:

Is anyone out there interested in being our table mates? We did this on our second cruise and it was lots of fun. All we need to do is link the reservations for the purpose of dining. We have first seating.

I've been packing clothes in my head for a while now - thinking about what to bring and doing what shopping needs to be done.

DH and I are both looking forward to stepping on the Magic and going - "Ahhhh!" it will be good to be back on board!!!!

i have most of the stuff i need to make our FE's. I'll start on them in another week or two. going on a long weekend trip to see my great niece (and her family!) this weekend. She is three and we haven't seen her since she was 8 months old.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Later!!

Hi crew,

The wife (whose handle escapes me) and I booked today. It'll be our first Disney cruise and my first cruise period.

I'm sure she'll be along shortly to join in all the discussions....I know she's wicked excited for the champagne and tiaras. :)

He's right - I am SO excited for the champagne party. I will sign up tonight!

I would also be interested in the FEs, lanyards, meet, etc - but have to be honest - as this is our first Disney cruise, I'm a bit overwhelmed. Any chance someone can provide some background on the FEs - maybe some photos/examples?

Can't wait to meet you all - yippee! :cool1:
