22 Sept 2012. First Sailing Out Of Galveston, TX

Sheri, you may try the Tremont House. I think it's pretty close to Port (I know it's on the Strand side of the island, anyway) and is also a lovely hotel. A Wyndham, I think.

:wave2: welcome to all who have joined our group!!!! So glad we have a few more cruisers joining in the fun.

We are staying at la Quinta the night before we sail. We are driving :moped: over. We plan on parking at the cruise terminal so it really didn't matter how close to the terminal we stayed.

I may try to change to a less expensive place closer to sailing date.

Have my plans for my fe gifts. Now just need to get them put together. :goodvibes

Looks like i might need to buy more stuff to make the FE gifts! I love how more people are cruising!

Who is ready to cruise? I AM!!!

I am anxious to get started making/buying my FE gifts. We need one for each person correct? Do we get an assigned day to deliver the FE gifts? How many should I make/buy? I want to make sure I have plenty for anyone who joins the group. How many are you guys planning for, or are you waiting for a deadline to get an actual number?

It is entirely up to you on how you decide to divide your FE gifts. You can give one gift per person, one per family, one per stateroom, etc. We have not assigned any delivery days, and it is usually up to you when you deliver them. Some people chose to deliver them early in the cruise, especially if the gifts can be used throughout the cruise, and some have day specific gifts, such as pirate night.

We have decided to do a gift per person. I believe we have around 30 people signed up so far, and I am planning for 50. If we have more than 50 at the deadline, then I will purchase more materials to make the gifts.

I think Sarah's answer is about right. I plan to have the cut off date to be August 22 for sign ups. If the group gets too big we can divide it. Also if anyone wants to join after the cut off date I could have a late sign up group and anyone could join that one as well. That would be up to each person.

I too plan a gift per person but I have received lots of family and cabin room gifts that were great.

I have added the FE sign up list to my signature so it is easier to find. Good idea Sheri...

Is there anyone who plans to get off the boat in Mexico but is not going on a Disney excursion? My mom and aunt think they may want to get off the boat, but they were not interested in any of the excursions.

We are getting off and taking a taxi to CHANKANAAB PARK. it is a wonderful place to spend the day if you want to relax on the beach, do a little shopping or just eat and drink.

I have been to Cozumel about 30+ times but it has been about 5 years since I was there last. The town is a nice place to roam around at too. Cozumel is very safe.

I have never been to Costa Maya but I have been a little further north to Playa Del Carmen, a nice town. I am a little concerned about going very far from the port area in Costa Maya so we plan to stay around the port and maybe find a good restaurant for lunch. I am not much of a shopper so doubt we will hit many shops.

We are also looking at doing Chankanaab park - sounds like it can get alittle crowded but appropriate to do with my mom...we'll probably bring our own snorkel gear...

Has anyone done the Chocolate factory that trip advisor mentions? - I am a bit of an addict and I see very few poor reviews.

BTW Chankanaab park has a coupon for a few dollars off admission on their website (I assume it is authentic)...

I have not been to the chocolate factory but we are thinking we might try to go by there. Chankanaab can be very crowded but it is pretty big and can handle a good crowd. I booked a manatee encounter on there web site which includes admission to the park for the day.

:welcome:

:welcome: We are so glad you could join us.

Sorry your sis couldn't make it but glad you and your friends are joining us. I did see you on the FE list. If you want on the Secret Mickey list then please PM me.

Okay, see I'm not very good at this stuff. :upsidedow. I thought I was signing us up on the Roll Call. Oops!! I will go remove our names from the FE list. Unfortunately, I have the most packed September one could even imagine, so I can't commit to the FE gift exchange.

We will be "Celebrating" my oldest son's 4th birthday on September 26th. pixiedust:pixiedust:

We are still looking forward to a great trip!!

Debra

Final payment made, one brunch reserved, Flounders Nursery reserved for the Grandson during brunch. Going to Mr Sanchos in Cozumel but haven't decided on anything else. Grandson is two and step-son is morbidly obese :( so we have to be careful about what we plan!

When I originally signed up to cruise we were going out on the 20th of October (my double nickel birthday) but husband has to work in Las Vegas that weekend (he will work I will play) so we had to move the cruise up :)

We are in cabins 2083 and 2085.

When we did the inaugural Mexican Riviera cruise a number of years ago we got a really nice blanket - maybe we will get something nice this time too!

Can't wait to go!

Debra, sorry to hear you will not be doing the FE. I wish you would reconsider maybe letting your kids do it. You can always give out pieces of candy or something simple like that. It so fun for kids to come to the cabin and find a new surprise.

When we did the inaugural Panama Canal on the Wonder a couple years ago they gave us a lot of cool things... almost something every night. It was so awesome. I hope they are planning something for us too.

Good morning fellow cruisers!! We're another day closer and that much more excited!

I know they give out gifts for first cruise destinations, so my concern is that we won't receive anything because they are already cruising to the western caribbean. Don't get me wrong, i am really hoping for something, especially after they let us down on the first west coast repo. Sure they had been outof LA before, but never up the coast and a lot of people were expecting something special. I guess we'll just have to play the waiting game!

Off to work so that i can pay for excursions!

Hi everyone....

Does anyone want to plan a Meet and Greet say around 3PM on the day of embarkation? It is a good time to say hello and actually meet in person. Also we could possibly get our lanyards at that time as well.

Don't forget to sign up for the Fish Extender on the link below in my signature.

Anyone interested in the Secret Mickey please send me a PM so I can add you to the list. This will be closing on August 15th.

Anyone packing yet? I have started a pile of "stuff" to take. Mostly I have been working on the FE gifts.

Who's ready to start this party? party:

Gooooood morning!

A meet around 3 sounds great!

I haven't started a packing pile, but i have done some shopping and started a mental check list.

Great Sarah.. let's plan the 3:00 Meet and Greet and hopefully we will have several show up.

I haven't started the mental list because I am already so mental :confused3

I keep most of my Disney cruise items stored together in a couple drawers so I just have to check to see what needs to be added.

Shopping.... yep.. I plan on doing some of that too :cool1:

Sarah, has it warmed up in Alaska yet? We are in the 100's this week.

I've had a "cruise box" going since April! I've been trying to add little things here and there so that there won't be as much pre-vacation shopping to do in September. :)

DH thinks I'm nuts but he's never actually packed his own bag when we've vacationed before (oh wait - maybe a couple times, and he spent half the trip asking where this or that was, because he'd forgotten to pack it) so he has no clue what all goes into packing for a family of three for a week!

:rotfl2: That's too funny! I know what you mean tho. Maybe we should start a list of things folks might need to bring. Like laundry soap. The 3 in 1 sheets are great for that. ok.. I'll start and everyone feel free to share your idea's and thoughts on what to bring.

Laundry soap
battery operated candles or some other form of night light. (no real candles allowed).
Pirate costumes... a must!
Insect spray
sunscreen
door magnets....

ok ya'll jump in....

It has been a tradition the last few years for the women to gather in one of the bars and sample champagne. They were pink boas and tiaras. Is anyone interested in participating in the Champagne Girls? If we don't have enough for Champagne tasting, we could just gather in our boas and tiaras and have a drink of our choice.

Thoughts?
