We have a 22" rolling duffle bag that measures 12 square and 22 inches long. Will we be allowed to use it as a carryon piece? The official DCL measurements are 22" x 14" x 9" so it is 3 " taller, but I thought I read somewhere that if it fits through the scanner DCL will allow it. Our first DCL cruise I used our smallest piece of luggage and it fit with plenty of extra space in the scanner so I don't think the 3" will be a problem but would like some advice from frequent DCL cruisers so I don't end up with a carryon that is too big at the port!!!

We used a medium sized Adventure Rolling Duffle from LL Bean. According to their site, the dimensions are 11 x 23 x 11. We had no problem either with the airline or DCL. We used it for the alcohol we carried on, so the wheels really came in handy!

It has to be able to fit through the x-ray scanner similar to the ones used at airports.

I also would like to use the rolling duffle for our alcohol, my makeup and perfume, things that I don't pack in the luggage and the wheels will be so nice to have! I measured ours with a tape measure and it is actually 12" square so it sounds like we wont have a problem then. We will be driving so DCL is my only concern and since alcohol cannot be in checked baggage I'm not sure what we would do if they turned away our carryon! Has anyone had a carryon denied because of size??

I read all about the do's and don't for our cruise we took in May. I made sure everything we had and did was in compliance (smaller bags, no open food, etc..). When we got there they didn't check our food and I seen people with their regular large luggage wheeling it in. I didn't understand why all the rules if none of them were enforced or checked. :confused3
