21st August 2011, Disney Dream

I like the July 1st as well. That will give me enough time to finish crafting and packing them up. We are traveling with two friends who are not participating since its their first cruise. I have some gift stuff to do for them. Its finally hot here in Massachusetts, so I am really starting to feel like vacation will be here before we know it!

It's a good day to be a party of 2 as I was able to get a reservation at Palo. The only concern is what we will be missing for the seating we selected. Does anyone happen to know what meal/dining room is used on day 2 or is it pot luck for this new, really, really big ship?:confused3

We really wanted Palo brunch but couldn't get it - I'll try right when we get on the ship.

And yes, the weather is finally warming up here, although it comes and goes. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 90's, but then it will be 30 degrees cooler on the weekend.

Is anyone traveling with a 12-13 year old girl? My daughter (13) didn't have a great experience in the clubs on the last cruise and I'm wondering if I can at least try to get her a friend to hang out with on the cruise.

My understanding is that there are three rotations. I found this on a thread dated in February, so I'm not sure if this is still the three possibilities [A = Animator's Palate, R = Royal Palace, E = Enchanted Garden]:

Rotation #1: AERR
Rotation #2: RAEE
Rotation #3: ERAA

4-night
1st night -- cruise casual
2nd night -- Dress-up night (they're not calling it formal for these sailings) -- Port of Nassau
3rd night -- Pirate Night (Castaway Cay Day)
4th night -- cruise casual

I'm hoping for rotation #3 - I've read they have more/different animation in Animator's Palate on Pirate Night.

We booked Palo the first night and Remy the last night - both around 8PM. We've got early dining, so we're planning on taking the kids to the dining room at our regular time. While they eat we'll probably have a drink, and maybe an appetizer, but not a meal. Once dinner is over, we're going to put them in the kids club and go to Palo/Remy.

I've got a 13 year old daughter (turns 14 next week) who would love to have someone to hang with in the clubs. As a bonus, we're on both cruises with you! She's eligible for the Vibe, but I think I'd like to try to keep her in the Edge since she'll be such a young 14.

On a side note, my DH and DD8 will be in Hershey next weekend for the Hershey Invitational (soccer). DD13 and I can't go with them - she's got finals on that Friday and Monday and I know I won't be able to get her to study in a hotel room. :sad2:

Nice. My boys were supposed to play in that but their coach didn't end up putting the team in.

Great to know that there will be someone else her age. We'll have to find each other early on.

Sonnyeclipse and NLM - as it turns out, I have two girls that fit that description. My younger daughter will be turning 12 the week of the cruise, and my older one is 13 1/2. It's great that there are kids in the group right around the same age, especially since these kids may be feeling a little annoyed that they don't get to go to the older kid club (which has hot tubs in it) - this way they can meet up the first day, and hang around together if they hit it off.

Do you want to have them exchange emails and chat before we go?

Hi. We are booked for the cruise on 8/21 and would like to do the Fish Extenders. Can someone tell me where/how to sign up?

:welcome: to the DISboards!

......... and welcome to the cruise.

I am sure Wayne will be welcoming you soon and add you to the list of cruisers and FE participants.
Your names and kids ages would be wonderful to know as we (my brother and I) love to personalize some of our gifts.
Don't forget to post your stateroom number either, otherwise we won't know where to deliver to! ;) :goodvibes

Thank you so much for the information. I'm now thinking of trying for the 4th night when we board (wouldn't want to miss pirate night) but will keep our 2nd night reservation for now. The only place we don't want to miss is Animator's Palette. I'll try calling to see if we could find out what rotation we have.

Thanks Dizneeat!
Our stateroom # is 10126 and it will be me (Aleta), my husband (Richard), and our 9 year old twin sons (Matthew and Ryan).
Looking forward to the FUN!:yay:

We are all booked and I can't wait to do an FE - It will be me, DH and DD7. Second Disney Cruise. We are from Hackettstown NJ, home of the M&M Mars factory. Hope everybody likes chocolate.

You might get lucky with gifts similar to last year's! :rotfl2: We need to stick to small items, but we are giving them out daily, so I guess we add up too!

Your gift from last year travels with us too! :thumbsup2

Hi all, Checking in.

All 3 cabins paid in full. I am now going over to DCL site to make Palo Res, Brunch and dinner. and Remy! As i only have one login with DCL in Jenn's name. the other 2 cabins will remain unbooked for stuff til we get on board. (unless) they are linked and allow to make for all 3 cabins.

I just don't feel like creating and new log in's ....

It is getting close. The Dream is an Awesome ship.
I also need to make a reservation for 3 studio's for 2 days before the cruise.
Have not done that yet. (DVC)
purchase air...

Passports getting renewed and first time for some....

I also need to rent a super van for 9 passengers.

Still alot to do... All happening this week!
We have a ton of stuff going on.
Painters are coming to paint home, Starting /Monday...

Grad party for our 18 y/o Niece..

and Jenn needs a new Car. Lease coming to end.

I don't think we are going to take part in the FE's, as it is Job enough to take care of 4 kids and MIL!!!!!!! The 5th Child is not going to make this trip perhaps another (We had Hoped For the Best), She is not done with the program care she is Receiving and we feel it is in the best of all enjoying this trip that she remain shore side, Receiving Care that she needs, Instead of coming along and making it all about her! As she tends to do! So the rest of the Nieces and Nephews can enjoy there time. With out worrying about Sister and where she is what she is doing is this going to upset her, and so on. :rolleyes1

Oh don't worry the Father is still coming! We are just Aunt and Uncle.
Paying for the kids! Cruise and Air & place to stay!

Back to father, MIL decided it would be nice if he could come along, So she is paying his entire way,,,,,,,, We are like What????????

WoW !!!!!!! goes out has 5 kids /does not have pot to piss in, and gets handed a cruise.
Gotta love MIL's

Unbelieveable, The kids are different with out there father around, and we do not like the way he treats and talks down to them, It will make for a different trip.... :headache:

Hi Peter.
Did you get what you wanted? might be a struggle so close.
Just after we booked I sent an email off to DCL asking to link our cabin with Mart (burt) and Nigel (DISwolves) As we are Gold Castaway members I could then go on and book us all for Palo Brunch when our window opened.
I wasn't too hopeful it would work but it did, no problems.
