Did you get any kind of a headache during or after these episodes?

MS comes to mind. YOu need to see your neurologist again.....

Ocular migraine. Look it up. I had one once and thought I was having a stroke. For me, my vision looked like I was looking through a piece of broken glass that was slowly rotating. I didn't even have a bad headache.

I really don't think anyone of the Dis can diagnose you. It could be a myriad of things, time to see the neurologist.

It sounds like you might be having nystagmus, did you feel like your eyes were 'buzzing' back and forth or up and down?

Regardless, get to a doctor, NOW. I would tell my neurologist if he couldn't get me in first thing tomorrow morning then he could meet me at the ER tonight. I don't know your medical history, but in a healthy person, this is NOT normal, and could be an ominous symptom of something much, much worse.

I'm not trying to scare you unnecessarily, but this is not like an ingrown toenail or a weird rash. This is a neurological symptom, and even if it turns out to be some odd manifestation of an ocular migraine, I'd feel better if you had it checked out.

It could be a detached retina too. I agree, I would go to the ER with strange vision symptoms.

It could be ocular migraine or it could be something else. You need to bring it up with the neurologist.

My husband gets ocular migraines. His vision becomes shimmery, then like spirals and stop & start vision. It makes him kind of sea-sick and he has to lie down until they past. The weird thing is he doens't get a headache. The first time it happened, I took him straight to the doctor--we didn't know if he was having a stroke or a seizure or what(he has a history of seizures.) It was a relief to know that it was "only" a migraine.

ITA! Google this. Nystagmus can be a symptom of MS, along with losing words in conversation. Definitely speak to your neurologist as soon as you can. Sending positive thoughts.

I vote ocular migraine, too. I was just in the emergency room TODAY with visual field problems (the left part of my visual field was grayed out a bit, so I missed the first few letters in each line in the magazine I was reading, then this changed to a waviness in my left visual field). They did a CT scan and didn't find anything and diagnosed me with an atypical migraine. I'm supposed to follow up with an ophthalmologist within the next 2 days.

Have you had a CT scan or MRI recently?

I think that is a good possibility or a "silent migraine"; no headache but prodromal symptoms.

I hope you are right.

I usually get an MRI once a year, because I have a spot on my head since I was 17, no one knows why its there... could have been born with it.

I do get ocular migraines, corkscrew shaped kaleidoscope which are accompanied by a moving stroke like loss of feeling on the right side of my face that starts near my eye and drops until it hits my chin. I have also had episodes where all my peripheral vision goes black. My experience with these is pretty moderate so I think I would recognize one of these.... if this is a new form then I will be greatly relieved.

I would also see an opthalmologist or a neuro opthalmologist just to rule out a retinal detachment or optic neuritis. Maybe these things are exacerbated by stress and you have had some stressful days recently. Good luck!
