Arguing? Nah, we're not arguing (note that the OP has not been back for more than 24 hours - and no, I don't usually track information like that, but I did try to figure out how she can claim not to use the Internet, yet be posting here repeatedly). We've just devoloped a camarderie; we seem to be united in a common cause

I just don't think We should be paying over half her mortgage payments for the sleeping use of one room. And we're only going to be there for 1 or 2 months, and then she's right back where she started.

We are stuck between a rock and a hard place, but so is she, so there's room for negotiations.

Like you said, this is a short term arrangement, so removing all of the drama,
bottom line, you pay what she asks, or find someplace else to live.
Simple as that.

You people just keep extending this thread and pointing out aspects of the OP's situation that I missed before, and "making" me respond, aren't you?

The homeowner is not between a rock and a hard place, she is in a stressful financial situation.

But then, the OP is also not between a rock and a hard place. That would mean two different, equally difficult, choices. Sleeping indoors vs. living outdoors? Not a hard decision at ALL.

But maybe she's outside, actually looking for work/a safe living situation.
