2025 Travel!!

Thank you so much ☺️ That's some great advice to get me started! I'll definitely look into seats.aero.

Do you have any issues booking far in advance? And do your connecting flights link to your long haul? Having separate bookings has always worried me.
I've always stalked the sites to book as soon as they open up. It's usually about a year out, but I start checking every morning from like 370 days out just in case!

Doing it that way, you can't book connecting flights. I just make sure to leave HEAPS of time between each leg - usually we make it into a stopover so we've got at least a night or two before the next flight. The only time we had same day flights on this last trip was MCO - LAX - SIN, but we were on the first flight out of MCO arriving at LAX at about 10am, with our departing flight not until 10:30pm. So even if our flight had been cancelled, we would have heaps of time to get ourselves to LAX on a different flight/airline. The afternoon flight actually would have been perfect timing, getting into LAX at about 7:30pm, but we weren't willing to risk it in case there were any issues.

Thank you, that's given me a lot to go on 😀

I've tried to get business class with points with Qantas from Brisbane to WDW but I can never find availability. I really want to try do that for 2027.

I have Qantas points and a bunch in my Amex I can convert to various other airlines. Any tips and tricks that anyone can share would be appreciated! Beware, Im a noob in this area haha Might even be worth it's own thread!

We just pay for the trip and always apply for the upgrade and often get them on one of the flights. Last trip to WDW on the Sydney to Dallas route we got upgrade to premium economy on the way over and business on the way home.

Not sure I would be bothered trying to book flights on points alone. Used to work Ok but not these days.

Thanks, I always end up booking the discounted flights which are not eligible for an upgrade because I figured, with no Qantas status anymore I wouldn't stand a chance so may as well save the $$$s. Do you have any status or has it worked without?

We do not get the flights based purely on price, more so the route to be suitable. We are both Gold on Qantas so I am sure that helps. We were Silver for many years and still got some upgrades.
