2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

I disliked the beginning of this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade because having Jon Batiste singing a song was a waste of time and space and what they could've done was have something from Disney's Wish at the beginning to start the parade. Also I noticed that Beyonce appeared in the parade giving a holiday message and I wondered why she was even there? Does she have a new album coming in 2024? But why they had Sheryl Lee Ralph appear with Santa Claus as Mrs. Claus? Because for as long as I can remember Mrs. Claus was played by a wonderful actress to appear in each parade's end. What happened to the original Mrs. Claus actress? Did she die this year or retire from the role?

My wife watched the Macy's parade and told me that it was pretty bad. There were large gaps in the parade, balloons were a problem, and the announcers weren't very good. She said that there were people actually crossing the street during the parade.

If you want to watch a much better parade, I would suggest the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade. The pacing is much better. What I enjoy are the various high school bands from all over the country. There's one, little tidbit about the balloons that I wish they would show on TV. The route of the parade passes directly under one of Chicago's elevated train tracks. That means that every balloon has to be brought down to street level, carefully maneuvered under the tracks, and they allowed to rise again.

Youch. I like Jon Baptiste... he's usually so positive/happy, it puts a smile on my face. I certainly wouldn't call him a waste of time and space.

Apparently you didn't listen to Beyoncé message. She was hawking the movie version of her tour. I did think that was odd and misplaced, myself.

Quite a few people think Sheryl Lee Ralph *is* a wonderful actress.

Honestly... this is Macy's parade. It's basically a celebration of New York, and one big ad for them. If you're looking for Disney stuff, you should probably just watch the Disney parades.

My grandfather used to complain about all the musical numbers. I kinda like 'em.

I divide the first hour of coverage before the parade got to the reviewing area from the rest. The first hour gets an F. Just cut it out of the coverage. Useless. Once we actually started to see parade, I'll give it a B.

As for the sponsors, those have been there for years. I mean just that it's the Macy's parade should tell you it's designed to drum up business for the holiday season. As for me I like the balloons.

As for the lip synching, it's here to stay. No way they're going to let anyone go off script any more. All the big events have learned their lesson from Superbowl debacles.

The balloons yeah, they're a bit smaller and less grand, but when handlers go flying when it gets windy, they kind of have to put the kibosh on that.

I wish the marching bands would get more than 20-30 seconds.

I had no beef with Mrs. Claus. We thought it might be Beyonce for awhile and we were laughing coming up with Mock outrage syndrome headlines from Fox. But once she appeared we knew it wasn't her.
As for Baptiste's opening. meh. Nice sentiment and I'm fine with him starting it out, but way too repetitive a song. Oh my father oh my mother oh my brothers oh my sisters, Oh my doggy, Oh my kitty, Oh my gold fish......OH MY FREAKING EARS STOP THE REPETITION!!!! I'd prefer a more parade centric song. After all, we're starting a parade right?

🎼Seventy-six trombones led the big parade

They were followed by rows and rows of the finest virtuo-

I'm surprised that this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade got good ratings but why they started it at 8AM instead of the traditional 9AM time is shocking to me because the Today Show would have a little preshow about the parade at 8AM and then when 9AM would begin the parade actually would begin. But why NBC chose to begin this year's parade at 8AM is because I think NBC wants to add an extended version of The National Dog Show and they want to shorten the parade so that dog show can start but NBC does a really smart thing by repeating the parade Thanksgiving afternoon so people who miss it can watch it again. I also found out why Brandy was featured in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. It turns out Brandy was promoting her new Christmas album and Someday At Christmas is the first single from her album

I think ever since Will Coss replaced Amy Kule as producer of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades you could tell that with a new producer Macy's was gonna change the image of the parade and starting with the 2020 parade the parade did indeed have a new image. Because you could tell that Macy's was wanting to have more input in the parade. But I think some of the floats and balloons are mostly commercial based and some seemed odd. Like I can never figure out why Lego has a float but you never will see an Emmet Brickowski balloon or a Wildstyle Lucy balloon based on The Lego Movie and what they should've done was have a Mario balloon to honor The Mario Movie and why they had a float on Wonka to honor the upcoming release of Wonka is beyond me? I think what Macy's should do is improve the parade by focusing not so much on their own balloons and floats and add more cartoon based balloons and floats. But it would also be cool if Macy's added an Easter parade as another holiday parade to be shown at Easter
