2022 Point Charts Are Out

I’m in the minority for sure because I’m happy about lower summer point charts for BWV. I have school aged kids and my oldest doesn’t like to miss school. I’ll probably feel totally different in a few years when they are out of school and I’m going by myself. I definitely prefer fall if it’s just me so I understand why some or most aren’t happy with these changes.

More of us "older folk" love F/W

Well there is basically 363 days of festivals at Epcot now all with food booths so I think you will be okay. Example they have one going on now which ends like January 3rd and then Festival of the Arts starts up on the 8th until like March and I would suspect another quick turn around until Flower and Garden.

Oh and September 1-14 got lowered in point cost last year and wasn't changed this year if you really want to hit F+W and save points.

Good for "school age" children during summer break I guess... THEY may be happy... Me and
LOTS of others... NO!

Well since summer is by far the slowest and easiest to book pretty much across all of DVC obviously there is more demand in the fall and thus per the rules of the contract they are supposed to address it with adjusting points.

WHY on Earth would you be happy about this? More of us "older folk" love F/W, and now the points are higher during that time.. Lower points in the "heat of Central Fla" when us "older folk" can't take the heat.... Good for "school age" children during summer break I guess... THEY may be happy... Me and
LOTS of others... NO!

Because that is the way it is supposed to work? I just retired last year so now traveling more often during fall and winter over all the years I had to travel in summer as a teacher,

So, these changes will now cost me more for my new fall and winter travel times, but when I take family and friends in summer it will be less,

I am still happy to see things represented based on DVC owners booking patterns.

I am sorry for those who aren’t happy.

The December 1st through 14th category is still in the wrong season for mine. The fall and summer adjustments seem fair.

Ya I swore them merging the dates last year meant they just wanted to get them all together to start moving up the point requirement for those dates.

I think you should have done:
Dec 1-23; May 1-Jun 10 all in Season 3 which would have lowered the point requirement slightly for that Season in total

I had also assumed that they would have increased the beginning of December more this year. Overall the new charts help me slightly for my normal bookings. Most stayed the same, beginning of May reduced a small amount.

A runDisney Wine and Dine (week 44) fixed week at CCV continues to be a great deal - the 118-point cost is now cheaper than the 121 points it would cost to book the studio on your own, beginning in 2022.

Curious how many others there are like this! Week 49 stays the same at 107 (but I would guess those changes are coming in a later year), week 50 closes the gap on the 118-point cost depending on how many days after December 15 it takes up.
Well the 10% premium for my fixed week at Riviera in the fall has been entirely eliminated. Bit easier to swallow now.
I have FWs 44,47, and 48 at CCV in a Studio, each of which was 118 points. In 2022, those weeks jumped to 121, 126, and 115 points. So while I’m not happy about the rising point costs - because I like to add on the Friday and Saturday night before and trade up to a 1 BR when I can - I am feeling very glad about my FW investment.

...and I just realized I’m now 3 points shy of that plan when we go weeks 47 & 48 and want to trade up to a 1BR (which presumes we’re cancelling week 44 that year and combining that with my CCV resale points to trade up). I can of course borrow, or use other points at 7 months, but I guess maybe I should keep my eyes open now for a small CCV resale contract in Sep... ;-)

A FW at CCV would be the only way I would consider a purchase there as we are a studio couple and I would not want to compete for them. I was thinking about a FW at CCV but this was vetoed by my other half due to availability issues if we go at other times. Anyone purchasing a FW at CCV for studios are clever.

We purchased a 50 Point contract at RR to add on the fri and sat and although those nights have increased, I expected they would.

That is the biggest mistery of all.
I have two possible explanations:
1) Iger and Chapek like to use their DVC points during the first two weeks of December
2) those are the two weeks that sold the most FW of all. Someone asked DVC who would pay for the extra points in case a fixed week costs fewer points than the point charts and DVC answered that the developer would have to put in the extra points. So to increase the cost of those 2 weeks DVD would have to use their own points to offset the costs, actually losing money.

Perhaps when people start booking during the less demand weeks (not summer/& not many low demand weeks), in a few years they will adjust/reverse again.

We have more than enough points. Might not treat the kids to BCV lol as often.

Since the food booths are there now more or less almost all year long - we can switch times if we really want to - I doubt it though. Hopefully one day the Eat to the Beat Concerts will be back too - they perform during F&G too - we do have choices.

It is not the first time DVC points have been tweaked and it won't be the last. This is why the advice for new buyers is to always buy a few more points than the chart shows.

Absolutely. My original contract at BRV covered a studio for a week for any week of the year except Easter & Christmas. It now only covers Seasons 1-4. And while I understand what everyone says about total points remaining the same, I admit something feels a little fundamentally wrong about that.

We did add-on retail to have enough BRV points for a 1BR any week and a 2BR for the fall, so we’ve got plenty of points. We still have enough points for the 1BR, but now not enough to cover Dec 15-23 in a 2BR without borrowing.

And my question is how much “extra” is needed to buffer the reallocations? I have been dealing with this since 2007. There is never an exact buffer amount. I do not want to be paying MF’s on unused points nor stress over trying to use them up. My VGF September week ( last week) went up two points from 125 to 127 for that week. I will simply go for six nights and bank the extras so I will have almost three trips to us the extra up and stay our regular week as planned. No....I am not buying more points Disney!!!!

Poly points went bananas for the holiday season. Interesting to see what cash rooms go for those two weeks.

One time use points are your friend :) Just makes that piece a 7 month item instead of 11.

The OKW charts seem pretty good, as I usually travel late May/Early June. My other normal travel times Early December or mid January hasn;t change (except a few points less for GV, which I usually don't get)...so I'm not unhappy.
Those are my preferred travel times as well. I don't see much change for SSR, either. But if you have the luxury of flexible scheduling it's fun to mix things up a bit to experience the parks and resorts at different times of the year.
