2022 Point Charts Are Out

One time use points are your friend :) Just makes that piece a 7 month item instead of 11.
Which for certain weeks will not be an option.
Exactly. The weeks I need those extra points are during Fall Frenzy (specifically Wine & Dine runDisney, weekend before Thanksgiving to first weekend of December, and week before Christmas), or during Feb/Apr vacation weeks, so 7 month availability really isn't an option. I can borrow for now, of course, but I will certainly consider a small add-on if one comes my way.

@ Lorana, I’ve been watching for smaller VGF resales for my September UY. They are virtually non existent! Plus PPP is near $200/pt. So at what point is it better to go direct?

Alas, Direct is a waitlist that they don't allow you to join. If they did, I'd be on it now, even with it being at $280/point! I did found a 50-point contract earlier this year that I think someone on this board picked up, but the seller didn't want to go below $237 per point, and I just wasn't willing to spend that kind of money. (Similarly, I saw a 100 point, but it was similar in price). I then got very, very lucky finding two small contracts on FidelityResales.com for $195/point, but they were OCT UY. I REALLY wish I had a Sep UY for my VGC points so I could combine easily at 7 months, but as my VGC points are VGC only, having a separate UY was not a deal-breaker, and small point contracts at $195 are a unicorn, to say the least! The average prices I'm seeing for small contracts is closer to $230-$240.

A runDisney Wine and Dine (week 44) fixed week at CCV continues to be a great deal - the 118-point cost is now cheaper than the 121 points it would cost to book the studio on your own, beginning in 2022.

Curious how many others there are like this! Week 49 stays the same at 107 (but I would guess those changes are coming in a later year), week 50 closes the gap on the 118-point cost depending on how many days after December 15 it takes up.
I must be lost. What is a fixed week? Since when has DVC had this?

Really? A full week after Easter? Odd. Definitely not the case here in MN!
Lots of MN schools have the week after Easter off. MN school districts vary when they have their spring break. My kid's school aligns the spring with the week after Easter.

Put me in the unhappy category. If I am reading the 2022 chart correctly, my 2BR at BCV for Thanksgiving week went from 309 points to 334. Seems like a big increase to me.

They have had it since VGF.
Here is a good article.

There's a great discussion thread here, too: https://www.disboards.com/threads/all-about-fixed-weeks-riv-ccv-aul-vgf-poly-charts.3806985/

That article is also a little out of date. For one, FWs *do* qualify for promotions. I picked up my FWs this past summer with the big promotions offered then, so my cost per point was significantly lower. That's one reason why FWs are really worth it, because you do get the incentives. Also, the FW charts are based on the point charts for when the resorts first opened. So, for example, if you were to purchase a FW 47 (Thanksgiving most years) at CCV right now, you'd still only pay 118 for that fixed week, even though it costs 123 points in 2021 and 126 points in 2022.

CCV also offers runDisney Fixed Weeks for Wine & Dine, Marathon, Princess, and Star Wars events. These runDisney events come with early registration perks AND the flexibility to modify your check-in/check-out dates for that FW (while the runDisney events continued) ahead of the 11 month mark. It's one reason we picked up the Week 44 fixed week. For one, my husband would love to run in the 5k and 10k runDisney events from time to time. But most importantly, it allows us to switch even if we aren't going to run to a Wed-Wed or Thu-Thu week, instead of the usual Sun-Sun.

I checked our 2021 plans against 2022, and I have found April to May trip the same....4th of July stay would be 6 points less, and the October trip 24 points more.

In future, I could book September instead of October, I suppose. As mentioned, we just added 25 VGF because we do want to stay there in December, and we think that will help with what we want. We see what we hope for there this year, will be an extra point a day.

Why do they say it’s seven seasons? 20 days in September and 2 weeks in April are not seasons. Go to 4 seasons and add the holiday premium. Makes no sense to play this 7 season game.

My thought is to make it balance the way it has to and once times are in a season, everything has to be the same.

So, if you didn’t have Season 1 which is September, and that moved, it might be harder to balance.

Or this 7 season thing is temporary while they do some multi year changing to stay in the 20% rule and once things can be condensed again, they go back.

For example December 1 to 14 was merged with 15 to 23 for 2021 and some of earlier dates went up.

Now it’s back on its own and Dec 15 to 23rd is a different season.

I think early September being separate makes sense as its hurricane season, hot, kids just went to school, probably least busy time at WDW for those reasons, and good to give a short window for members who do want to save some points.

The way I view the seasons and how they should be "fixed":
  1. Hurricane Peak Season w/ No Kids
    1. Sep 1-14
  2. Value Season
    1. Sep 15-30; Jan 1-31
  3. Pre Season (Prior to Holiday Run Ups)
    1. Feb 1-29; May 1-Jun 10; Oct 1-15
  4. Mini-Prime Seasons (Summer/Thanksgiving)
    1. Jun 11-Aug 31; Oct 1-Dec 11 (exclude 3 days around 4th of July, Thanksgiving)
  5. Run Up to Prime Season
    1. Mar 1 - 30; Dec 11-17 (excludes 2 weeks prior to Easter)
  6. Shoulder Prime Season
    1. 2 weeks prior/after Easter until end of April; Dec 18-23
  7. Prime Season
    1. Week prior and post Easter; Dec 24-31
Could probably cut it a bunch of other ways as well.

I bought in 1999, my first trips were in 2000. I originally bought for 6 nights at OKW in a 1 bedroom in May, and a BWV 1 bedroom for 6 nights the beginning of December.

I looked them up from my original point charts:

OKW - 6 nights May 1 bedroom - 2000 - 148, 2022 - 153
BWV - 6 nights early December 1 bedroom preferred 2000 - 155, 2022 - 179

I bought 250 points, which I ended up doing some cash nights to make up for the shortage, especially the weekend at OKW it was 48 points for Saturday at that time. I also started doing standard view at BWV for awhile. I'm not following that pattern anymore due to family change, staying mostly studios, sometimes banking, sometimes borrowing. I never added on until this past January, when I bought a VGC resale, luckily with only 1 2020 point and no dues, which worked out.
