Does anyone know when we will be able to book Disney hotels for 2021? Considering changing our sept stay to next year but don’t seem to be able to see feb rates. Which would you recommend for lower crowds - Labor Day weekend or Presidents’ Day weekend? I know both would likely be busy

Well, no one can really say what crowds will be like once the parks reopen -- especially if there are limits on guest numbers -- but just a heads up about Presidents Day Weekend. That is one of the busiest weeks, or at least it has been in recent memory. Last year, that weekend started with Valentine's Day, went into a 3 day weekend, headsd right into Ski Week (whole week off for many schools in Southern and Northern CA), included a national cheer convention at the ACC, etc. You get the picture -- the parks were slammed all week. Will it be the same next year? No way to predict that right now. Labor Day comes with its own quirks -- possibly very warm weather and HM is usually down for the installation of the Halloween overlay. The parks are usually already on the low season/non-peak schedule by then, but Labor Day Weekend should have longer hours and more entertainment. Again, for next year, no one really knows yet if things will look like they have in the past.

I was able to book our August 2020 hotel on 11/1/19. I had been checking frequently so I think it was around the start of being able to book the next year.

I believe you can make a room-only reservation up to 499 days in advance, if you call. If you want a vacation package, I think they typically open up in the summer for the next year. So I would say June time frame.

If you're waiting for a package to book through Disney, the ones from Disneyland come out about a month or two after WDW. So, July or August usually. Not sure if anything will change though with the closures and everything. They could decide to wait on releasing new packages.

Yeah you can book 499 days before your *checkout* date either by phone or through a travel agent for a room only rate. I've always been successful having my agent change my room only rate over to either a discounted rate or package once those get released.
