2020 Trip Planning Help

We are trying to plan a trip for mid-January or anytime in February of 2020. Considering Disney does not release the next years "packages" until sometime in June, how do families go about looking at room costs? Its fairly easy to figure out ticket prices and dining plan prices (i understand they may go up, but that is what a +/-10% on each of these will help). But we are struggling on finding any resort information. Any help would be excellent!

I have not done it (yet) but I have read you can call and book a room only res for 2020. It would be rack rate but I am considering calling and booking now (for May 2020) because I am looking at POFQ and it is a small resort that typically sells out pretty fast. Once booked you can wait until discounts come out and apply them to your reservation, or even switch the res to a package. Even if you don't book it you have an idea of the highest rate you would pay. With SWGE opening no one knows what Disney has planned as far as discounts go.

I always look at this year's price and add about 5-7% on the total package cost. It should be close. We are going in December 2020 and I have an estimate for our costs, just waiting to be able to book soon.

yes, you can book a room only reservation over the phone much earlier. then, when packages are released, you can rebook/upgrade. you will have a different reservation number since you are technically canceling one and booking another, but you will have some sort of base price. or you cold call and almost book a room only reservation to get the price without actually paying any money. it wont be the same as it would with the package, but its a start at least.

I sent an email to my Dream Unlimited TA. My sister and I are wanting to go in late 2020. I knew it was too early for 2020 rates to be out, but at least now she has me on her list.
