2019 Princess Half Marathon Weekend

My initial browser was chrome and it never got to the registration page.

So I tried Firefox and that got through in about fifteen minutes.

I tried ie too and that went nowhere too.

But I’m in for the challenge.

Thanks for the tip. I started opening all browsers on my computer and go in almost immediately with firefox! 5K, here I come!

Thanks for the reply!!! We are in for our first 10k and half. Doing the Challenge. I'm scared but I knew if I didn't register for both I would be kicking myself when it was too late.

In 2011 and 2012, I ran 3 half marathons, my first ever runs of any kind of distance. After professional demands forced me to take time off running, I resumed in 2014 when the Star Wars Half Marathon was announced for Disneyland. I wanted to register for the challenge and realized that if I could run a half marathon at the end of a weeklong trip to Disney World, then I could surely run a 10K and Half marathon on back to back days with training. Find a training plan that works for you and have fun! You've got this.

I had both Chrome & Firefox open as well (and perhaps AP & DVC). DVC on Firefox popped first so I closed the rest. Got my confirmation for the 5k at 12:13. I didn't run last year, but it was definitely easier than 2017 - although that was pulled into the parking lot of a gas station after I picked up my kids from camp and realized I wasn't going to make it home in time!

I am a big old dummy and left my credit card at home. Here's hoping there's challenge spots left tonight when I get home! If not, that is just a sign I only need to do the half marathon.

Edited to add: Challenge seems to be gone, now I decide if I just do the half instead. Arghhhhh!

10K and the challenge are sold out for early registration. They will open back up next week for the regular registration but 10K typically sells out super fast.

Last question.... if I also screwed up on t shirt sizes can that be changed somehow? Either before or exchanged at Expo?

Yes you can edit under your registrations!

Seems like a much larger wait for this than wdw weekend.

They probably decided to let less people in at a time to avoid any issues of overload, as nobody wants to get kicked out once in.

I gave in and registered for the half! It took about 10 minutes for me to get in and another few to register. My bank account is not pleased but I'm excited! This will be my first time doing the Princess half and my first year going to Princess weekend solo.

Now to wait for the theme!

I logged in exactly at noon. It took about 20 minutes for the registration page to show up for me. I was able to register for the Challenge and the 5k. I have registered through a TA for the last few years of races, but I wanted to use my DVC points this year. I forgot how stressful registration day is!

Awesome! I've done Princess weekend twice with friends (5K and 10K) and I'll be doing the Wine & Dine half solo in a few months. I'm excited! The only thing that seems like it will be boring by myself is waiting in the corrals

Some somewhat-baseless speculation I've heard is Aurora (I think it's the 60th anniversary of the movie or something? so that one is not entirely baseless) or Tiana.

DH and I are going to be Prince Philip and Aurora for the 10K, Sleeping Beauty was his favorite movie as a child. So we would be stoked if it actually is Aurora.

Was 2014 the first year that specific princess themes were introduced? Before that the medals all look very similar. Here are the themes I found with some quick Google searching:

2014 - Cinderella
2015 - Frozen
2016 - Little Mermaid
2017 - Beauty and the Beast
2018 - Snow White (half), Brave (10K), Tangled (5K), Mulan (kid's races)

I think Snow White only the half and challenge last year? The 10K was Brave, 5K was Tangled and the kids race was Mulan! I wonder if they will stick to multiple princesses or go back to one princess/movie for all distances.

Oh, I'm so excited here for everyone that registered today... and anxiously awaiting my turn next week.

I find run shirt sizing really bizarre, so I might go to a local sports shop and see if I can find a 'Champion' brand shirt to try on. Are the Princess race shirts long or short sleeve?

That's a great point - updated my comment to reflect that!

I like the multiple princesses idea, except I get major FOMO! I'm not a huge Snow White fan, but I love Tangled. So I was SUPER disappointed last year when the medals came out that I had only registered for the half! I'm thinking of registering for all three this year (which I think is exactly what they want! Lol.)
