2018 dining plan question

We are going in January and doing the dining plan. Our youngest is on the child plan. It *looks* like he'll still get the specialty drink with his meal too, correct? Does anyone know if they'll swap out the drinks on the Mickey Check meals if asked? Those come with water or milk (currently anyway) and my son is lactose intolerant. He does OK with minor dairy content, but straight milk he cannot drink unless it's lactose free.

Also wondering if he is required to order dessert from the kids selections. I'm assuming yes, but some of the places have horrible choices. For example, Sci-Fi's kids dessert choices are fruit salad, apples, or a sundae. While the sundae is OK, I suspect its very lackluster compared to the other desserts. Of course, I don't need a full dessert so I'd be fine sharing mine with him too.

Yes, they will swap almost everything on a Mickey Check meal. Specialty drink is still included, no booze on kid plan.

He will be required to order from the kid selections for dessert.

What? I can't order my 7 yr old booze? Hmmph! Thanks, that's what I thought. Glad we can swap out the drinks.

We don't really KNOW for sure the swap will be okay. Right now, kids can get milk, soda, juice or bottled water. @_auroraborealis_ have you gotten specialty drinks with a kid's QS meal before? If they've done it in the past, they'll certainly do it in 2018, and my personal thought is they WILL let the kids have them in 2018, but until January comes around and people come back to report, we'll just have to wait and see.

Well, last year they did let me swap in a lemonade slush with a kid meal at QS.

While obviously we still have to see how they handle stuff in 2018, especially at QS where a credit is a credit I think it will just be what it is. TS has always been variable, especially since most TS don't have much for specialty non alcoholic that would count. No light up drinks, and that is 90% of the TS non-alcoholic specialty. The other 10% are milkshakes, and I think most people have had luck with milkshake swaps for kids at the usual suspects (Drive In, WCC, etc.).

I’ve been looking at menus and most of them have some kind of juice drink. I wonder if they also may give you the drink without the light up cup if that’s the only thing they have.
