???

Thursday, Friday and Monday

Another Pa hunting day off here, and december 2nd in our school district will be one of the lowest attended days all year.

My kids are off all week. When I was in school we got Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off.

My mom is a retired teacher and she said that the reason that some schools have all week off now is that alot of people traveled anyway and took their kids out of school. That made the attendance at the school bad and they would lose money, so now they just give them the whole week off. Makes sense to me.

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. It's been that way since he was a little guy. I like getting those days off from work, too! ;)

My school system is out Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I love having Wednesday off, because that allows us to travel to Texas to be with our family for Thanksgiving.

Last year, we were only out on Thursday and Friday. Most of our students were absent on Wednesday, so the school system went back to the old schedule.

Pretty funny that they'll allow days off for "hunting", but jump down your throat if your kids don't meet their attendance policies - even with legitimate reasons!! :headache:

For the Thanksgiving holiday?

DGD has no school Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.. I don't ever recall getting the day before Thanksgiving off from school - do you?

My kiddo has always gotten Wed. Thurs. and Fri. off, and I'm pretty sure I did too:confused3

For the first time ever, we are out for the entire week! :woohoo:
Monday and Tuesday are staff development days for teachers and holidays for the students.

My son is off for the entire week! In Kentucky, he only had Thursday and Friday off for Thanksgiving.

I have noticed that he doesn't have as many days off here and there (for teacher conferences and such) as he did in Kentucky, but the breaks he does get are longer here. And, of course, we don't have to account for snow days here in San Diego! :goodvibes

To be perfectly honest with you, I never even knew that the Monday after Thanksgiving was for hunting and I've lived in PA my entire life! :confused3

The district where my sister teaches has off Monday-Friday, but as a teacher, she has conferences Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. My dad (who teaches in a different school district) has Thursday, Friday and Monday off.

As far as days off, I think that many schools in PA have less days off than other schools in country. JMO, though.

Mine is off all week. They call it Fall Break around here.

My DD was suppose to have off all week but Monday and Tuesday are being used as hurricane make up days from earlier this year. She is in 8th grade this year and up until 6th grade, they were only off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Starting last year, they decided to give the kids the whole week off.

all........week...........

M/T are conferences. W is teacher comp day. Th/F for the holiday.

Off all week here. For Christmas we get out on the 19th and return to school on Jan. 5th.

Zero. The boys go to The American School, but this year they go to school on Thanksgiving Day. They get Dec.4-Jan.4 off for Eid/Christmas holidays this year, so they need them in class all they can. Some parents made a stink about it, it doesn't bother me. We will have our feast on Friday! Our weekend here is Fri-Sat, so we will all be together Friday:)

Our high school is off W-F, the middle school only has Th-F off. Christmas break is from the 19-4th--WAY too long.

W H F and M
Monday is more for hunting then Thanksgiving

Mine are off Thurs, Fri and Mon. Only in PA do the kids have a day off for hunting. :rotfl:

:lmao:

Yep, Monday off for hunting here too. I wondered if there would be any other Pennsylvanians here to chime in.

I can remember when our school district started giving it as a day off. On that Monday, the school would be like a ghost town -- many teachers even missed! Then at some point when I was in high school, they gave up and just made it a holiday. :lmao:

I laugh about it every year. I remember being in school on that day and always thinking how unfair it was (my family weren't hunters).

And for those who are not in PA, this is true. It's the first day of Deer Hunting Season every year and it is a holiday for most schools.

NJ just Thursday and Friday. Half day Wed.

Half a day Tuesday, off Wed, Thurs, and Friday.

Seems a waste to go for a day and a half.
