Hey guys

With the exception of a quick week last December we have chose to give Florida a miss for the past few years and enjoyed pastures new

However, we are definitely wanting to return within the next 2 years and noticed whilst we were there in December the amount of construction commencing. I've also recently read about the development of Toy Story Land, Star Wars World, AK Avatar etc....

In light of the same, and it probably being again our last trip for a few years would you suggest leaving it till 2018 or are the above attractions still just "rumours" as such?

Thank you and Hello to old friends

I would look at their refurb schedule and decide that way, they're going to be refurbing a lot over the next few years for their birthday celebrations in 2021 so IMO you'll encounter quite a bit of refurb anyway.

There's always refurb work and unless you are a late Booker, you're not gonna know what's down until a few months before you leave.

In terms of Toy Story Land and Star Wars, I can't see anything being done by 2020.

Avatar should open Summer 2017 iirc

In short, don't bother planning around any construction in my opinion, go when is good for you and when you can afford it

Pandora (i.e. Avatar Land) will be the only big new thing opened between now and 2018. Toy Story Land was rumored to be ready by 2018, but I don't think I've seen any pic of work really started in the area. Maybe it's all in the backstage at the moment? However, since you won't be back for a while I'd go when I'm sure Padora will be open, and we may have some news soon about that. But unless they give a certain date, I'd wait for 2018, if I were in you. If they say "Summer 2017", it could slip to the 20th of September and still be Summer, so if you go in August you'd miss the opening.

we can now only afford to go every few years with the whole family (partial family trips are more often, but not with the entire family)...
the last full family trip was in 2011 .... the next one is in 2017....hopefully, they'll be some stuff finished by then, but either way it will be 2017...
then i guess the one after that will probably be 2022 or something....geez...hard to imagine a year that high!
in any case, we'll be happy to be there, regardless of what the state of construction is!!

We are looking forward to avatar so thinking 2018 will be better had to book already and then it's opening get delayed and miss it.

I agree with above posters, don't think we're gonna see much movement before 2018, If you really want to go back go, if your planning round new stuff don't be disappointed if there's none of the 'major' changes completed when you visit.
We usually space trips 18 months or so between each visit and there's usually a handful of tweaks or changes and there's loads of stuff we still haven't done yet.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
I think we'll aim for 2018 and visit Disneyland instead 2017, at least we get our Disney fix that way
