2017 DISNEYLAND RESORT HALLOWEEN TIME / MICKEY'S HALLOWEEN PARTY THREAD!

At least you guys get splash this year. It was refurbed last year during that time and now that I will be in WDW this year that week and who can guess what water ride will being getting refurbed during the hot summer-fall months...again...

...

And we ordered my daughter's costume ... her hint: it's a Studio Ghibli character (she says that's it's kinda Disney since Disney owns the distribution rights in North America)...

Hey, Studio Ghibli totally counts! The year we went as Mr. and Mrs. Totoro we got so many compliments from other guests and CMs alike. :)

I'm sooooooo ready to go already! It's stuck in my head and I keep singing "Are you ready? Yeah! Really ready? Yeah! Are you ready for Halloween? Everybody jump, jump! Shake, shake! Come and scream! Let's get ready for HALL-O-WEEEEEN!!" and I think my family's starting to get annoyed! lol

... just realized they don't play that song during the parade anymore! Boo!!! Oh well, the new parade is fun, too!
I really like the music for the Frightfully Fun parade last year and my son watches the video of the parade enough times that I know the words to the "Its Halloween" song. I am a little bummed that they are retooling the parade to make it less spooky. I feel like it was just the right mix of spooky and family friendly. If my niece wasn't scared of the parade then it wasn't too scary because she gets scared of everything and she loved the parade.

I think I'm annoying my family too! I walk around the house singing "it's Halloween, Halloween, everybody!" My son looks at me and shakes his head...haha!!

I did see a rumor about a possible Halloween WOC for next year though...I think I know where i'll be spending next years fall break :cloud9:.
I saw that rumor too...it would make sense if they've moving MHP over to DCA next year. They would need some nighttime show to replace Halloween Screams as the party-exclusive offering...

Ok I would've sworn that I heard that they were making a few changes to make it a little less scary...but where I heard that now I have no idea. I looked around at the usual suspects (parks blog, touring plans, the undercover tourist, the Disney tourist blog) but I cant find a thing. Maybe I am wrong since I cant find the info anywhere now.

Maybe we saw it on the Rumor Mill because I swear I also read the same thing!

Another song that they use a lot for MHP is "This is Halloween" from Nightmare Before Christmas. It shows up in the parade and in the fireworks show, and the Cadaver Dans sing it (they version is really fun to watch!). Boo to You shows up, but it's not the main song for MHP.

We're going on the 31st, and it's surprising to me it hasn't sold out yet! I mean...maybe the combo of $120 and a school night, but still. Usually when DL raises prices it doesn't deter anyone!

Not much in the way of new news, but another Parks Blog posting...
Top New Experiences for Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort

Still hoping for a posting about the seasonal food and souvie offerings!

Also, Friday, September 22 sold out online. So that's all of the Fridays, and all but one of the September parties! In a lot of ways, this year is not following the historic pattern. Usually Halloween night and the first party are among the first to sell out. This year, they'll be among the last...

I just plugged our dates on for the Halloween party 9/25 and it's sold out
How crowded will this be, this still is early in the season, wow!!

DLR never announces what a "sold out" party means in terms of guests in the parks. Historically, almost all of the MHP sell out in advance and last year, it didn't feel as crowded as some years. Either they dropped the number of tickets sold or the crowds were better distributed within the parks. Either way, unless things drastically change this year, my guess is that a "sold out" party will be busy, but it won't be anything like a normally busy day in DL.

In terms of the sell out pattern, historically the first party, the one on Halloween night (or the weekend party closest to that day), and the one associated with Gay Days weekend usually sells out first. In some respects that was consistent this year; the Friday party closest to Halloween and the one on Gay Day weekends were among the first to sell out. Friday the 13th was first, but I think that's mostly because it's "Friday the 13th" and folks thought it would be fun to go to MHP on that night. I would tentatively guess that Wed, 9/22 will be the next to sell out because it's the last party that is under $100...watch, now that I've said that, one of the Friday parties in October will sell out next! :rotfl:

Most of the parties will sell out. There's really no sense even worrying about it. No matter what date you chose probably would have sold out.

For the most part, it's a sold out party or nothing. So just roll with it. :)

I was at a sold out party last year and I really enjoyed myself and found it to be crowded in the bottle neck spots (the entrance areas to tomorrow land and frontier land and on main street around parade and fireworks times) but otherwise not crowded looking at the park and experience as a whole. A friend from work was at the same party and said it wasn't fun, it was too crowded and it was her last party. Why the difference 1-expectations and 2-touring plans

1. I hit the treat trails only after the fireworks and there were only short lines that moved quickly.
2. I got my spot on the curb near the little Red Wagon a little less than an hour prior to the show and we ate dinner alfresco curbside so the wait didnt seem bad to me.
3. I used a blanket and a stroller strategically to help keep a space bubble around me while waiting for the parade. I didnt feel crowded at all.
4. I got there well before the toontown preparty to get my a couple of fab 5 in costume must do photos and my magic shots done so I didnt have to do them when all of the party goers were there (this only worked for me because I had an AP so I was able to enter early unlike people with just a party ticket)
5. We focused on rides quite a bit and they had very very short lines so we felt thrilled by that
6. We skipped the Halloween themed rides during the party because they tend to have a longer line during the party than during the rest of the day. I did HM and SMGG during the day on other park days,
7-the Most important-If I saw a crowd or a long line, I turned around, walked away and did something else and came back and checked on it later near park closing. (This will not work for characters FYI)

So if you adjust your touring style and expect to see crowds in the bottle necks and near parade routes and fireworks (sometimes very hectic crowds that I refused to trudge through) and have a plan to not let the crowded areas bother you or to avoid them as much as possible then you will think it was not crowded.

Is it worth buying MaxPass on a Friday party day between 4 & 7 (the three hours before the party starts) or will all of the rides already be booked for the whole time?

Check the DLR app ahead of your arrival on your party date to see what FPs are still available. Then you can base your decision on that information.

Excellent advice/info! What time did you get to the toontown preparty? I am going on a Friday night so that means the toontown preparty starts at 6pm, correct? I have an AP too.
