2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

If you submit a POT from a 10k for the half do they take on a certain percentage of time or something to determine your corral?

I believe they use the McMillan calculator to estimate what your Half time should be.

Welp. After an unfortunate check-up with my doctor, it looks like I'm out on the Ultra - but back in on Princess! And now it's a girl trip! So excited to get another girls run weekend together.

We're going all-out on the Princess-y stuff this time - Royal Room at Port Orleans, and ALL the Princess meals. And one of our friends is not only doing her first RunDisney race, but it's also her first trip to Walt Disney World!

So exciting.

Seems like a win, despite the sour news. You're going to have a blast and have a great time making memories :D

I'm feeling incredibly stressed with planning now! Since my friend couldn't get in, he isn't sure he wants to go to Disney at all! I don't want to book any hotels if i'm not sure who I'm going with! I'm kind of wishing I hadn't signed up now...hoping things work out! There is still plenty of time, and I have planned some ultra last minute trips before. This just isn't looking quite as perfect as I originally thought it would :(

Look at acclaim travel, they have bibs left for both the half and 10k. My group went through them for registration and they have been really nice to work with.

I have done every Disney race solo and I have a blast. Don't let what anyone else is or is not doing keep you from what you want. Nothing is ever perfect, but that doesn't mean you wouldn't enjoy yourself.

I actually like doing the races solo a little better (anti-social much? :)). But I like 100% calling the shots on paces, photo-ops to stop for, etc.

I did Princess solo, but I'm really looking forward to experiencing it again with my best friends. We had an AMAZING time at Tink, so I'm looking forward to another fun girl's weekend with those ladies.

Question about parking. My sister and I have signed up to do the Princess 5K for the first time. Yay, so excited!! The webpage says, "Athletes and spectators should plan on arriving at Epcot® by 4:00 a.m. on race morning." Is that for all the races or just the half marathon? The race doesn't start until 6. I thought getting there by 5 would be good. I hope we don't have to get there that early.

It really depends on if you're driving or taking race transportation. I drive myself to WDW events and I usually leave my house about 45 minutes before race start and I have no problem. Be warned that they start prepping the course and closing the entrance to the race area at EPCOT 30 minutes before the start of each race.

Personally, there's not a single reason why I'd be at a race two hours before it starts when I know I don't absolutely have to be there that early.

Personally, I'd rather be there earlier. Then I don't have to worry about a bus line, or traffic, or anything.

As someone who always relies on the race transportation, I definitely agree with this. It's too much money to pay to risk missing/being late for the race for an extra 30 minutes or sleep or whatever - ESPECIALLY when there is always at least one transportation horror story with each race (i.e. drivers not knowing where they're going*, buses not showing up on time to resorts on race morning**, etc.). Maybe I'd feel different if I were driving myself. :confused3

*Don't forget, these aren't always WDW Cast Members doing the driving - Disney has a contract with Mears to have some of their drivers come in to help with the increased load during race weekends.
**See Wilderness Lodge during Dark Side weekend (morning of the 10K I think?) for an example!

This is too true!!!

I did the Princess half and the Princess 5k this year and it was a such a blast! I love that runDisney has races geared towards women; it's nice to have that comradery with my ladies! For 2017, myself, my mom and a friend are doing the 5k and the glass slipper challenge (the triple crown!) I still can't believe we were able to register, considering how fast it sells out (we did early registration for DVC).

Yes! Honestly, any amount of time in my room (let's face it, I'm probably not sleeping anyway) is not worth the stress to me. If I'm already there, there is nothing to worry about. I get enough jitters, (no matter how many races I do) so I try to do everything I can to keep myself calm.

So excited to be joining in with this great group! I can say that I have successfully read all 56 pages, after I had already registered! As an active DISer I didn't think to look for this thread until after committing to the race. It will be myself :figment:, my sister :stitch:and my best friend :ccat:(who is a second sister to us) on this trip and new venture and for the first time participating in the Princess 5k princess:. My sister has run races before and is the active runner - - she'll probably be in an earlier corral than us 2. My bff and I have each done local 5ks but nothing spectacular. We are training together, and working on getting our time down. This morning I was at about a 14 minute mile. Plenty of time to get it even lower.

**EDIT: It is very possible that this is only exciting to me. :)

So...not sure how many of you read last year's thread (lots of good info there, by the way), but when the Dooneys came out for the race we got to talking about Harveys bags as a Dooney alternative. Harveys is a company out of California and they make bags/wallets out of seatbelts...they have a working relationship with Disney and make Disney-inspired designs.

Lately they have been releasing bags that coincide with the Disney live-action releases (Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland - apparently 101 Dalmations is next), so I have reeeeeally been hoping that something is in the works for Beauty & the Beast. I saw this screenshot posted in one of the purse Facebook groups I'm in last night...it's from Harveys' Snapchat account. Looks like Beauty and the Beast is coming!! Eeeek!!! Would be so awesome if this came out before Princess weekend since there's a good chance Belle is the theme!!!
