2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Just got on the magical express and managed to trip and cut/pinch my wrist between my Alex and ani and magic band.... here's hoping this is my only injury this weekend...

Has anyone had a kid run the Mickey Mile before? My little guy is 4 and is adamant that he wants to run the race by himself and he just wants us to wait at the finish line for him. I know he's on the younger side to run this race, and I don't want him trampled. Do they start in heats the same way the dashes do? If they do, maybe we can let the bigger kids get out first and then have him start in one of the later heats.

My best friend's daughter ran the Mickey Mile last year. There weren't separate heats-everyone started at once.

Did anyone see the 82 year young lady that was doing her first 5k? She was using one of those rolling carts and moving right along! I was so impressed with her! Just goes to show, no matter what you age or abilities you can always reach your goals if you keep trying.

I saw her on Facebook! Always love stories like that.

I happened to be at the expo during the mile run today. There were a lot of kids and parents out there on the course. I don't think I'd be comfortable letting a 4yo out there alone. Maybe you could go on the course with him and lag behind so he thinks he is beating you to the finish?

It's a big crowd and a mile is a long way -at any point which a 4 year old
might get scared or change his mind and there isn't a way to be near him along the course before the finish unless you are in the race. My best friend ran with her 7 year old. Running behind him sounds like a good idea. Lots of kids are with their parents. Even the Bigger kids.

MK is crazy crowded today!!!!!!!! I can't believe how bad it is. Is this normal for princess weekend?

Oh yeah...and likely to be worse tomorrow and Sunday since some people arrive today for the half on Sunday !

Almost ready for bed. Would 4am be an okay time to board the bus or should we aim for 330? We ended up just sitting around waiting for an hour this morning and .... bored.

First runDisney race in the books, and now I cannot wait to register for the Princess Half next year! The only thing that was a little irritating today was that we were in corral E, but actually wanted to run the whole thing, so weaving through people was a pain! Otherwise I had a really great time and I am super excited for Dark Side now!

We made it to the Swan! Husbands tracking down sushi and the girls are asleep - ready for MK in the morning.

I am sure this has been asked - but if my husband and girls (in stroller) want to watch any of the half, can they walk to Epcot from the Swan and get into the pair before it's open to see me run through near the end? I'm estimating I will be coming through around 8 to 8:15am - so before Epcot officially opens.

Yeah I'm not thrilled with the idea of him just taking off - he's so independent and I love that, but he's 4! That's still little! I think I'll run a ways behind him and hope he doesn't see me!

DVC event at MK was fun - great fireworks just after midnight - headed back to hotel for 2 hour power nap and then up to catch bus to Epcot for 10k - who needs sleep? Good luck to everyone later this morning!

Last year it was pushing & shoving at the expo. This year, it seems to be bandits hopping into the 10k. What is it about Princess weekend that generates such craziness?
