2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Well shoot. I twisted my ankle this morning running and now it's quite painful. Tomorrow was supposed to be my long run...needless to say that run is postponed. I guess all I can do is ice and rest for a few days and hope it starts feeling better soon.

Thanks. I found a rose online that I liked and I traced the outline in chalk to give me an idea of size before I painted it. So, sort of freehand, but not my original art.

Still impressive!

Oh no! Take it easy!

We got our magical express stuff yesterday. My daughter checked the mail as we came up the drive at the end of our 8 miler and it was there. Perfect end to a run.

We are working on our race costumes. I'm having my mom sew us skirts (I don't sew). I wore one of the simple sparkly skirts over tights for my last race and it kept pulling between my thighs. I hate that! My regular running skirts are more fitted, so they don't do that. The plan is to make a fitted layer out of stretchy material topped with layers of sparkly tule. We have tights or compression shorts to wear underneath depending on the weather. I'm hoping the fitted layer will keep the tulle from catching. Still working on the shirts.

Hope it feels much better tomorrow!

Rebel Challenge done - Princess Glass Slipper next...promised the GF that I would do the Princess/Tink Challenges in 2017 with her to earn the Pink Coast-to-Coast medal since she did Star Wars Light Side Rebel Challenge/Dark Side Challenge with me to earn the Kessel Run Medal last year. Couple of questions for all of you that have run these in the past as we've never run these races:

1) Are there "I did it" shirts for men at the expo? It's the one shirt I get at each of my races.
2) How are the courses compared to Dopey, Dark Side and W&D?
3) I've heard that about 10% of the runners are male - true?
4) Assuming no awards for male age categories - true?

Thanks for any help/guidance and good luck to everyone in their training!

1.) no idea
2.) exactly the same as the 5K/10K/half January courses
3.) I think true, you can check past results
4.) true (for half anyway) and no men in corral A (maybe B?)

@Ariel484 Love it!!!

Did this image come via email? I've seen it a few times on social media this morning, but didn't see an email? (Just want to make sure I'm not getting left out...;) )

It's from Facebook. If you "RSVP" to the PHM it's in that event - I got a notification from Facebook about it this morning. :)

Thanks girl! I try not to ask questions I can find the answers for myself... but didn't even think to RSVP... #Newbie ;)
No worries! For the most part they don't post a ton of useful stuff there but sometimes that's where the merch preview shows up. They also had all of the weather updates in the event for January's race weekend, so obviously THAT was important! Hopefully we won't get more of the same next month!

Keeping all of my fingers and toes crossed that we do NOT need weather updates!

So crazy. I last did this race in 2011 with about 14K runners and I know there's now 20K+...o_O

Oh wow. So with numbers like that, are you even able to run? Or even walk fast? In my first race, there were several hundred of us and I was able to navigate, but do you all feel the corrals disperse the crowd well?

The worst areas are in Magic Kingdom (narrow pathways and people are stopping for pics, etc.) - especially going down Main Street and through the castle (assuming they're keeping the "through the castle") portion, and right after you leave the Magic Kingdom (where there's just one lane of traffic to run in).

The corralling that they do helps. If you're a 8:00/mile runner and you're in Corral P it'll be tough, but if you're corralled properly you'll notice the occasional bottleneck/slowdown, but you should still be able to run.
