.................................

Jeez, C Ann, it sounds like you have good reasons to be cranky.

My mom's been in the hospital this week so I can relate. She stopped at the hospital for an iron infusion for her anemia but the staff were concerned about her breathing--turns out she has a bronchial infection and they insisted she go to the ER. Now they're checking three other things and we're waiting on test results. The worst part is that she feels fine and is extremely cranky because they won't let her have coffee, butter or salt and the food is crappy and she had stuff planned to do this week (like gambling at the casino with her group of friends.) :lmao: It's just been one thing after another.

I hope you're feeling better soon, C. Ann, and they get everything sorted out.

Hospitals? Doctors? Tes:grouphug: ts? Medications? Re-tests? Future scheduled tests? Shelling out several hundred dollars in the past 2 weeks since I came back from the lake? :headache:

Remember that urine test I had done that showed a "trace" of blood cells? Well, the re-test came back "contaminated" with "skin cells" (whatever that means) and I have to do a repeat Monday..

Then there was the x-rays of my hip and lower back - that showed I have 2 degenerated disks.. (Well I guess now I know why I have such horrid backaches..) For now the treatment is pain meds - with possible injections in the future.. I'm also scheduled for a Dexa Scan in Dec. due to my age and the fact that I went through menopause early (48) and I'm 59 now..

Moving right along, the gastroenterologist hasn't been able to determine what is going on in with my digestive system, so I'll be having an endoscopy on December 2nd.. Never had one before - not crazy about the idea of having one now.. But - aside from the constant gurgling in my intestines that has been going on for 7 months, I now have this horrible "boring" pain in my stomach.. It feels like someone is taking an electric drill and boring a hole right straight through my stomach to my spine.. The odd thing about it though is that it only hurts when I'm "doing" things.. If I sit still (like here at my desk) I'm fine.. When I start to move around it's horrible.. So - he gave me several different meds to take until I can get the endoscopy done.. (None of which are helping - and 2 of which are causing "other" problems..)

Then there's the headaches - that have come out of the blue - and I'm pretty sure they are being caused by the stress of dealing with all of these new health issues - in addition to the old ones - (as well as worrying about DD's health issues), so I decided to go back to seeing a therapist again.. My insurance doesn't cover it - I didn't "click" with anyone at the county - so I found someone else that I think will work out for me, but I have to pay for the sessions out of my own pocket..

This is why I hate going to the doctors to begin with! It's like opening a Pandora's Box and before you know it, you're running yourself ragged and going broke purchasing meds and being tested for everything and anything under the sun..:headache:

Okay - vent over now.. (And having to leave the lake sure didn't improve my disposition any..:sad2: ) Can you tell I'm a tad cranky tonight? :guilty:

I'm sorry. I hope you are all patched up soon.

 C. Ann, I can totally relate.

Summer of 2007 started out with knee pain. That was due to a tumor. That tumor turned into cancer. 10 months of grueling chemotherapy, one biopsy, one knee replacement, 10+ CT scans and MRIs, 3 bone scans, and two portacath replacements later, here I am. It's just a way of life for me. Every three months it's an MRI, a CT, a check up with the oncologist, and a check up with the orthopaedist. This is for the next three years.

I'm just so tired of it!

I think of you often and hope that your future will hold nothing but those annoying "check ups" and NO new problems!! I can't even tell you how much I admire your courage and great attitude! :thumbsup2

Well I know I shouldn't really be whining - because there are people out there with MUCH worse problems than mine - but the bottom line is I'm a terrible patient.. To me it's just a waste of time and money.. Grrr..:headache:

Oh, hey, you absolutely deserve to vent about it! It sounds like you're going through a really difficult time.

go ahead and vent. It may help you feel better.
It is tough when you do not feel good and just want them to fix everything.
I spend way to much time with the drs. I always tell DH to think of them as my secert lovers. :rotfl2:

C.Ann, don't stress over the endoscopy. It's a piece of cake. I had one a couple of years ago. One minute they were telling me to hold this little thing between my teeth. The next minute I was waking up and it was all over. I didn't remember a thing. After about ten minutes, I was wide awake and feeling fine. I have a lot worse times at the dentist than having the endoscopy.

I hope everything turns out well for you!

See what I mean? You have been through SOOOOOO much more - and at such a young age to boot..:sad1: Makes me feel like an absolute jerk for complaining about my issues, but if anyone understands how annoying it is, you would certainly be the one!! You "think" it's something insignificant and then they whack you up alongside the head with a worse case scenario (like my issues last year)..

Anyhow - I think of you often and hope that your future will hold nothing but those annoying "check ups" and NO new problems!! I can't even tell you how much I admire your courage and great attitude! :thumbsup2

DO NOT feel like a jerk! You are absolutely not a joke. Everybody needs to complain, it's not healthy to keep it bottled up inside.

Thank you!

First of all... FEEL FREE TO VENT TO US... WE are your DisFriends....

Second of all I can totally relate to you...

I am only 29 and I feel 80... I have been in chronic pain or the past 3 years... It all started with a UTI then it became a Kidney infection... I thought I was going to die... temps of 103-104... it was horrible... I talked my doctor out of putting me in the hospital... then I got this horrible pain in my side and thought it was the infection coming back so after going through the GU doctor and my family doctor 6 months later I ended up at a pain management doctor, that pain finally got under control ( with pain meds) and I was doing good then in January of the year I started with a bad headache and I thought the worst ( I am an RN in a Neurosurgical ICU) but it turns out I only have ocipital neuralgia and I am on more pain meds and muscle relaxers for that.... DBF is amazed at how many pills I take.... I take 8 medications (including my BCP)... so I know how you feel with the test after test... I joked for a while and said I was going to start glowing from the radiation...

So see you are not a lone....

As far as the contamination with skin cells is "normal"... you skin cells just got into the cup... make sure you do mid stream (sorry maybe TMI)

As far as the Endoscopy as a PP said it is cake... I had to have one also for the reflux I started having... you have this thing placed in your mouth then they say see you in a few and you are waking up in recovery....

You will be fine.... and maybe for the headaches try some stress relief... and if they don't go away or get worse please PLEASE tell your doctor about them....

Good Luck and

Please feel free to PM me if you need a shoulder to lean on...

I can understand your frustration. Medical tests are no fun. I hope everything goes well for you and you feel better soon.

Oh, C. Ann, I hope you will be feeling better soon. I understand your frustration. I went in for my annual exam in September and mentioned to my doctor about a slightly embarrassing time that age and having children has been causing me, and next thing I know I have had $3,000 in tests and $700 in lab work and now surgery is scheduled here in December.

Hope everything turns out okay for you:grouphug:

 To you C. Ann, I am sorry you are going through all of this. I know you know what I am going through too because you were so nice to comment on my medical threads too. I pray they get to the bottom of your problem and you will be feeling well again soon. I too freaked out about the endoscopy too. Well since I was in the hospital they gave me a 1/2 dose of the geriatric dose of some pill that calmed me down a little. I had to have it the night before. I know you commented about your ins. before. Have you ever checked into Healthy NY or whatever we have here? Does your dr. have any drug samples they can give you to cut down on your costs? etc. Blessings to you and keep us updated.

All of you are in my thoughts and prayers..
