2016 January Check-in Thread

Hello everyone! Will be at the parks with my Mum 4th-7th, we fly out New Year's Day at 8am from Sydney so very soon!
We have so many things booked already:
Cafe Orleans dinner on the Monday (I love the fries)
Ariel's Grotto dinner on the Tuesday for WOC
Blue Bayou dinner on the Wednesday for Fantasmic
Carthay dinner on the Thursday
Chip N Dale breakfast at Storytellers on the Friday

We're staying at the Park Vue. I'm mostly excited to eat, since I've done the parks both this summer and last summer with friends and solo, and Mum has mobility issues and can't do rides. I've told her we have to go to Trader Sam's now that I'm old enough to drink legally in the US!

I've loved seeing the posts from those of you who surprised your kids with trips at Christmas - what an amazing surprise!

Welcome! Wow only a little bit until you leave. Sounds like you have great food and show experiences scheduled. Have a great time.

So our original plan was to be in the parks Jan 2-6, but this morning, I saw the rain in the forecast for a few days in the middle there, so I added a hotel reservation for two more days (different hotel, oh well - we've done split stays before and it won't be a big deal to move from BW Ahaheim Inn to Carousel) to give us the option to skip a couple days in the middle and go on the 7th and 8th instead. I have till Jan 4th to cancel that reservation and stick with our original plan if we decide to do that. I'm bringing the rain ponchos just in case!

How exciting! How long does that flight take? You plan looks wonderful. But keep your eye on the weather forecast. At this point there's rain on Wednesday and I'd hate to see it cancel the Fantasmic show on the day of your reservation for that.

We have a large group of people going to the parks tomorrow.

I am very excited to hear about the details of your trips.

We'll be one of those groups! We're leaving the house in an hour or so to drive down. Can't wait! I ended up being able to add one night to our BW Anaheim Inn reservation, so now our DL dates are Jan 2-7 with one of the days in the middle (Tue or Wed for a rest and to avoid the rain) being an "off" day where we'll sleep in and go to Downtown Disney. Yippee, it's here, it's here! :yay: :flower1:

I can't believe this, we're a week out from my SECOND ever trip to Disneyland.

I'd almost argue that this is more special than the first one, because a lot of people just go to Disneyland once, but this? This is the beginning of a trend! This is the beginning of something I've wanted my entire life, but never thought I'd get to have...

I guess I have to celebrate by, on top of riding Pirates 10 times like I said I would earlier, actually remember to ride the Matterhorn Bobsleds (I was going to avoid it because it hurts a lot, but hey, this is a special occasion!)

So, I had to cut my trip this month down to just a day-trip. Kind of bummed that we won't get longer, but we'll be there January 9 at least, even if it is only for 1 day. We're doing a character breakfast, which I haven't done since I was about 10 years old. I can't wait! Can anyone give a ballpark figure for how long we can expect to spend at a character breakfast though? I have a child who requires a lot of prep for things outside of our normal Disneyland routine, so it would help if I can tell him what to expect.

Most of the character meals take an hour.

Do you know if the 3 Disneyland hotels will still have Christmas trees on display Jan 3 - 6? We arrive late in the day of the 3rd and I'm really hoping to still be able to see the hotels all decked out for Christmas.

Can't believe we leave in a week. Our boys left this morning to go to Big Bear for a week and will meet us at DLR. With Christmas and New Year and I haven't hardly had any time to think about the trip. Guess I should make reservations for WOC at Carthay Circle soon.

So, people that're more well versed in visiting the parks this time of year, let's see if you can assuage some of my fears: you know those weirdos that LOVE the Haunted Mansion more than just about anything? Well, I think I'm rapidly turning into one of them, but I got a bit of a problem; not that I'm not intrigued by what Haunted Mansion Holiday could be like, but I just don't know if I could ride it WITHOUT hearing "Grim Grinning Ghosts"...is it present in the Holiday overlay version of the ride at all?

It has been several years since I've been able to see HMH, but if I remember correctly, it does not have that song. I love the HM too (I just got a HM Dooney bag for Christmas) but I really like the HMH version too. It is so fun to see some new things and the gingerbread house is different every year. I'm also a big fan of the NBC movie. Definitely do not miss this ride if you have the chance to see it.
