I'm wondering; if those dates are correct with October not being included, could that be why they're taking so long to release MNSSHP tickets? To see how people react booking wise?

There are several places. Your base ITT will be able to give you information on the tickets and can sell them to you in advance so you can line up Fastpass+. I like http://www.militarydisneytips.com/ for all things Disney/military and they have a good page here about the Military Salute discounts: http://www.militarydisneytips.com/Disney-Armed-Forces-Salute.html. There are a few other sites with good info. I think there even used to be a military forum here on the DISboards but I don't see it anymore :confused3 You can book directly through Disney for the rooms (I'm fairly certain you have to call, I can't figure out how to get the mil discount online) and you can either get the tickets through Disney or, like I said, through ITT.

I don't think SoG has discounts (though they have package deals) but they are cheap compared to the other resorts. I was referring to the Military Salute room discounts at the normal Disney resorts.

Thank you! IF I read the site correctly, it appears that the discounts are only available for Active and Retirees, not Veterans (unless Disabled). My husband is a Veteran so I don't think he is eligible...

I'm trying to get my ducks in a row in case the resort we want isn't offered (POR). What is the best value resort?
I have stayed at All Star Music, Movies, Pop and AOA. Art of Animation is by far the best but is typically not included in free dining( i got lucky the last time). My vote would be for Pop. Smaller resort, no shared bus, cute theme.

Totally agree that AoA is the best of the values. I would rate Pop second. Have stayed at All Star Music and it was ok. Not having the shared bus is a bonus.

It's been awhile since I've watched for free dining, but I vaguely remember it being changed once where Value and Moderate resorts only got the QS plan. Is this the case? We'd be staying in a moderate and need the DDP.

The moderate and deluxe have been getting the DDP and the values the quick serve. If that were to change at the moderate and quick serve was given you could always upgrade to the DDP and pay the difference between the quick serve and the DDP.

Last year we wanted POR, CBR and then CSR. We got CSR. I was iffy on if I would like it but went with it because we were going to Disney. I was happy with that. It turned out that I love that resort. If you are looking for a mod. to be your second pick I would go with CSR.

We LOVE Coronado Springs. We stayed there for a conference once and if getting a moderate resort, this is what we choose! To me it feels more like a deluxe resort.

CBR is a nice option other than being quite spacious and having a lot of bus stops. Plus depending on where your room is it may be a hike to the food court.

I dont think November 9th due to that being in the middle of Jersey Week and Veterans day. Im thinking it would be more like Nov 13 - 19 or maybe 12th - 19.
Last November (2015) dates were Sunday 11/8 through Thursday 11/19. Last year Veteran's Day on the 11th as always and Thanksgiving on the 26th. Just FYI.

Last time we went, we stayed at AOA. They happened to be offering the dining plan with it that year. We upgraded to the DDP from the QS.

This is our list if we can't get a standard at CBR..
1. Any standard room at any moderate resort
2. Any preferred or water view room at any moderate resort
3. Standard room at a value paying to upgrade dining (preferably Pop)
4. Preferred room at a value paying to upgrade dining (Preferably Pop)

For those who don't follow Pete Werner, he posted last night on FB that suspected free dining dates are 8/23-10/1, 11/15-11/21, 11/26-11/28, and 12/10-12/21. NOT confirmed yet.

I'm new to the Dis Boards. In general, is Pete usually on point when give this type of information or could there be a good chance he may be off in regards to the possible dates?

Pete is the owner of Dis Boards and WDWInfo.com, as well as Dreams Unlimited Travel, which is a travel agency specializing in Disney vacations. Because they're a travel agency, they do get word before others and definitely know a lot of people where they may receive some insider info and rumors. I would definitely trust anything he believes to be true. He did make a point to say it is NOT confirmed and still a rumor at this point, but I would be very surprised if it doesn't end up being true.
