Does anyone know if the crowd calendar predictors take into account these huge conventions? A few years ago we went when it was some type of doctors group at the OCCC. When I called to find out how many attendees were expected, I was told 80,000 doctors + their families! That's a whole ton of people and you know that they are not just in town for the convention; they are doing the entire WDW family vacation while they are there. When I looked up Gartner, it said 24,000 typically attend FWIW. Still seems like a huge influx.

Some do and some do not. There are some conventions where families are strongly discouraged and actually take place at the convention center. Gartner typically discourages families from coming as well but it is on site at the Swan and Dolphin so you will often find that Epcot is busier after 4 pm when Gartner is in town.

:welcome:That's a question that's hard to answer. How many adults and children are in your party? Which resort are you booked in to? How long is your vacation?

A first trip is so magical but it comes down to what your family likes, your usual meal schedule etc. Those factors can help you decide what will give you the best trip.

If you want to make a decision, based on economics, go on the WDW site and pretend to book a trip. An easy way to get a ballpark estimate is to enter your dates, resort and tickets with park hoppers. Don't add dining and see what the total is. Since your package is pre the last increase, there may not be a large difference, or, it could knock your socks off!!

Best wishes for a first trip full of magical pixie dust!!!! pixiedust:

Our current package is at POP 4 adults, 1 Disney adult and 3 kids. (My inlaws are coming to help out with our 4 kids 11,9,9 & 4) October 23-28 with 5 day tickets and includes MM for just over $4100. When I quote moving our dates to Nov 27- Dec 2nd I get just over $4700. I decided to wait anxiously for FD and if we get it GREAT! If not we'll have our original dates planned and have a magical trip!

I've always gone Christmas week so no promo codes lol. This year we might get fd since we are going in November.

My question is will I see the promo 7 am the day they release it or the night before? Or something else?

Your best bet is to look here! That day, the reports will start coming back at 5 minutes after 7. You can be too late in the game if you wait on e-mails, etc.

They also have blocks of rooms at BWI, BC & YC...they pretty much have taken over that entire area.

hmm sorry if this is a duplicate. thought I posted it but don't see it

does anyone know the cost to upgrade from the quick service plan to the regular plan? the only answer I could find in my search was a couple years old. it said $19 per adult and I'm sure we paid more a couple years ago. (we have a BB at pop booked, with the upgrade. I'm trying to do the disney math to see the difference if I switched to a moderate if the free dining comes out to the GP ie, compare apples to apples thanks!

Those dates have been booked up since I looked in February. We were hoping to join some friends and stay at an Epcot resort, but they have been booked solid for months. It has become a popular time to go to WDW.

You would save more money by getting a room discount for your deluxe resort. The dining plan is only worth $60 per day but a discount at a deluxe can be well over $100 per day or more.
- right but $60 a day per adult and then whatever the price is for kids so for a family of 3 like $150 a night - I'm actually asking because I know free dining might be hard to get but in most cases it seems like the best one but then I see a lot of people that say - it can be good but not for everybody - to me it seems like would be the best discount for almost everybody but I'm new to this ( only the second trip this year as an adult with my own family - that sounds weird - 2 trips in 2016 all other trips prior to 2005 ) so I'm wondering if I'm missing something ?

I booked in February since we are going no matter what. 9/27 thru 10/3. Our dates aren't flexible but our resort is. We are currently booked at CBR and this year we are a party of 5 so we are limited to resorts. I went in today to look for optional resorts so we would have a backup. This morning POR had nothing available but now they have Riverview & Pirate Rooms available. We may just do 2 rooms at POP and have the extra bathroom if we can't stay at CBR. Now to wait and see :magnify:how this all pans out. I am afraid, now that CBR is fully booked during my dates that Disney may come back and exclude CBR :scared:

To my knowledge Quick service to standard is approx $18 per adult and $3 child. And QS to deluxe is $67 adult and $13 child.

No ADRs for us this trip. staying at value (hoping for CS FD), the kids are getting older and were VERY vocal that they "don't want to waste time sitting in restaurants" when they could be on rides. if there is a ROL dining package as was rumored was thinking to so that with Tusker House breakfast and pay OOP (have DV rewards to use). Kind of a relief and one less thing to obsess about; still have FD and FP+ to worry over.
o_O
Got a similar reaction from the kids so we are doing one TS per day (we used to do 3), no signature dining. For DH and I dining is part of the pleasure... We would not consider a full 10 dsys of QS!

You are right that each situation is different and you have to crunch the numbers to see what works best for you. The advice that you have quoted was specially in response to a single person who was staying by themselves at Boardwalk Villas. In general, a single person staying by themselves in either a deluxe or even a moderate resort, will often do better with a room discount. And in general anyone with at least two people or more will save more money with free dining when staying in a moderate or a value. But when it comes to a deluxe resort you really need to crunch the numbers. The DDP for an adult is approximately $60 while the discount on a deluxe resort can be double or triple that amount. So the free dining offer is not always the best deal in every situation but is usually the best deal with a moderate or value resort. :)

Single person in a value... Will be number crunching. Already have my price list written out for comparisons between current UK offers (non-refunable), current direct US rates and fall offers

I've got Ohana dinner (must for us) even my 2 year old and 4 year old love it... especially when they can run around pushing coconuts with brooms... Garden Grill lunch, Chef Mickeys dinner, Crystal Palace dinner, Boma (never eaten here but DH is super excited) BOG lunch, and Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic package... I can't wait

We did Boma on our last trip. I am a very adventurous eater so i was really excited. My family can be quite picky. I loved it and so did the rest of my family. We got there early and went and looked at all the animals. That was super cool.

Thanks for making me feel better about this one... I think this is gonna be fun after a day at animal kingdom... I wish they would show us times for rivers of light so i can make sure we wont miss it

Honestly, we LOVE the QS sooo much (especially when we have some of our grandkids) and even though I am excited about the ressies we have this trip, the QS gave us sooo much more flexibility and we discovered some wonderful QS dining locations that I am going to miss this trip. We are doing the regular dining plan this time (staying at at mod for the 1st time ever!) since we will all be adults and we are taking my 82 yr old mom (her first trip ever to Disney :goodvibes), we will all need a break in the day and a sit down meal will be welcome.

The 2016 Dining Plan prices are here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-dining-plan.htm#prices2016
Adult DDP $63.70 - Adult QS $44.13 = $19.57 per adult per day to upgrade from QS to DDP
Child DDP $22.85 - Child QS $19.04 = $3.81 per child per day to upgrade

So, for my family with 3 adults and two paying kids , we would pay $66.33/day more to upgrade...which is awfully close to the difference in room rates between our family of 6 in Art of Animation (two bathrooms! intense theming! great pools!) and the Cabins at Ft. Wilderness (three real beds! full kitchen! patio with picnic table! ELP viewing from the dock!). In other words, comparing apples to apples has not helped me make a decision at all! Any thoughts (besides my temptation to do a split stay)?
