2016 Free Dining Watch ~ Part 2

I have done it both ways. Both times it just added the FD to my already booked trip with no added cost.

If you're making any changes to your reservation, which includes applying FD or a RO discount, then yeah..you would have to pay the increase.

??? (I can't think straight anymore, can someone explain to me in tired cloudy brain speak?) :worship:

Okay Magical Number Crunching Gurus--I need someone just to look at my figures and make sure that I am correct.

We are currently booked for 8 days at the Poly with a 6 day ticket. No dining plan. We usually do 1 FS, 1 QS a day--so about $1200 in food. Package price was $2897.

I am coming up with $3334 for a switch to the POR. So we would still be saving over $500 if we changed with FD.

We are 3 "adults" and 1 child.

Looks like you'll save $763. We also have a Magic Poly deal for August which was booked starting on 8/23 the same day FD is starting. 2 adults and 2 children for $2838 with 5 day base tix. We also would move to POR for 7 days and add the water park option and would save between $800 & $900 with FD. I have a feeling I'll be going to work tomorrow with very little sleep.

I'm understanding this correctly hopefully, but I can add the water park option and still get base tix, correct?

Just checking in! How many of you are planning on staying up all night and how many are setting their alarms throughout the night? I'm going to do my best to stay up through the night. I plan to take a nap later and have some tea on hand for the night. Plus I'll have lots of things to do like watch the new game of thrones! ;)

I usually get up at 12:15 to fix hubby breakfast and get him off to work at 1:30 then go back to bed til time to get the little ones off to school BUT tonight I may just stay up and take a Nap while they are in school tomorrow

It would be ours too, but those suites are expensive for a value!

AoA is expensive for a value, but the two bathroom thing really appeals to me and makes it worth the money. Plus the over the top Cars theme for a <3 boy - we won't always stay there, probably, but this time... it's worth it.

Even though we could stay in a cabin cheaper, once we add the DDP price difference (which we will pay extra for at AoA) it only has 1 bathroom and the theming is more generic for any age. I'm just inclined to pay the roughly $20 a night difference for that second bathroom and the kid friendly theme. And of course, since I'm getting older, if we are going to be in a cabin I'd likely want the golf cart option, which adds even more to the price, making it about $40 a night more than AoA.

I'm so excited and ready for this portion of the trip to be completed! Super nervous too, as I am going to attempt booking 3 rooms online instead of waiting for the phone lines to open. Figured if I can swing it I'll wait for the dust to settle then link the reservations later.

I'm about to take a nap so I can stay up tonight. Everyone is sick so I doubt DH will stay up with me (although he offered). Oh well, I'll be on the boards and watch season 2 of Kimmy Schmidt.

Almost to the finish line! Everyone I'm planning this trip for thinks this whole planning and booking FD process is crazy. I want to pull it off and show them that it's so worth it.

I'll be up all night and take a 3 hour nap tmrw while kids are in preschool.
Last year I stayed up too 1, went to sleep til 4:30ish, woke up, got FD (later had to cancel the trip) and then was too hyped to doze back off again. I don't feel like those few hours were very good sleep so I'm just staying up til it drops this time.

Devil's advocate time (because I am curious): If you booked before the ticket price increase, and keep the tickets (including PH already) you already had, is that considered a change, or would you still get the old price?
If all you are doing is adding the free dining then you do not pay the increase. The only way you would pay the increase is if you are switching resorts.

If you booked with the old ticket prices you'd be paying the increase. If you booked after the price was increased you wouldn't see a change.

Disagreeing with this.

People are locked into their pricing for tickets on the reservation they've booked. ANY change is subject to the price increase, because it's no longer what you locked in. You locked in the rates you booked. It's kind of all or nothing - you're either locked or unlocked but you can't pick and choose what stays and what changes.

In the past I've seen people request a supervisor and have their price fixed, but I haven't seen that in the last year+.

Thats fine to disagree, I'm a Disney Travel Agent and have checked into this extensively for clients and they have said that if you are just adding the offer the price will not increase. The only way it will change is if you move resorts, or add tickets to reservation. I'm sure if you're doing the room discount that will change but from what I understood, the FD doesn't change it.

We will just have to agree to disagree :) I'm not a TA, but I've been on the other side of booking Disney trips ;)

The system will auto bump the price. It's not manual.

Question for everyone smarter than me...

Since we booked our airline tickets at the same time as our reservation through Disney, I am having trouble figuring out exactly how much money I will save by dropping our current DP, adding park hopper and paying the upgrade to regular DP. I think it is about $300. That being said, when I call in the morning and talk to a reservation person, will they be able to explain everything to be and break it down?

I just don't want to end up paying more for 2 adults and one kid, staying at All-Star Sports on 9/20-9/26. I was going to just do a RO discount but Park hopper passes would also be cool!

Also, what time do the phone lines open?
