2016 Free Dining Watch ~ Part 2

So strangely enough, I just logged onto my Disney experience and they took away my ability to make modifications online. It gave me the option yesterday, and today it says that I must call to modify reservations. I wonder if this is their way to control how much free dining is released...:(

This happened to me last night. Just keep hitting refresh and it should pop back up.

As a family of 5 I am disappointed in the options. But I am happy to see Disney changing that recently with recent changes to POR and CBR. I think I would prefer the suites over the cabins but for free dining purposes I would so with cabins because of the difference in QSDP and DDP.

Now that we are discussing it I just realized I may need to deprive them to see if Free Dining there would be cheaper than RO discount at CBR if free dining does work out there.
I was disappointed that it appears that POR has limited dates for FD again this year. That limits families of 5 to suites or CBR. That is why I thought of the cabins because you would get the regular plan instead of QS and no need to upgrade. I think it might be cheaper than upgrading the dining plan at one of the value suites.

POR isn't available for our dates so it just leaving CBR. It's killing me that we don't have a backup resort if CBR doesn't work out. I'll going to look back into both. But I am also traveling with another family so I have to think about their costs as well.

That happened to me this morning so I tried a different browser and it was back.

It's not available for our dates either, that is why I am obsessively checking to find all of the options for us.:)

so what time do we expect it will go live on monday?
midnight? 3am? 6am?
i am willing to be on the computer at any time of night to get this done lol.

It kills me how expensive the suites are. Even the All Star Music suite prices are crazy to me! I definitely feel for the families of 5.
There seems to be a lot of families of 5 so I think CBR might go quick. I wish POR had later FD dates available.

For those ready to jump ship, please feel free to do so if you need to.

I just want you all to know the way this usually goes down. I've watched boards like this during FD in the past. These boards, as great as they are, can also offer up naysayers and negativity.

For us, FD is an amazing promotion. My total is around 9500 .. add DDP and I come in around 14,000. It is going to be stressful and some people won't get it if it is not available. Just remember, even after the initial influx, some availability will open up after the fact. Try to be flexible, have a backup resort plan or two or three. Try your best and I wish that we all get exactly what we want!

If FD does not happen for me, I am going to choose to not purchase the DDP and will just pack some lunches and do one or two of our favorite dinners. We will still go because we love Disney. The FD is just the icing on the cake!

its a huge saving for us as well.
we get the DDP regardless and FD for this trip means a $255 savings PER PERSON.
if we got say a 20% room rate discount it would only be $250 TOTAL savings.

We're a family of 5 too, I am with you on the limited choices! I'm not sure what our back up plan is yet. I'd hate to pay more to get a suite, but not get the TS meals - that's a big part of why FD is so awesome, I wouldn't pay OOP for them otherwise. I showed DH the cabins, he loves them. I mentioned that a golf cart helps a lot but is more expensive - that only made his eyes light up even more, lol. It's just so much more expensive...

It's a bummer POR isn't included, so that we all had more options. :(

I have finalized my order of 6 choices. If I don't get a moderate we will go to value and I will keep trying to find availability. I will be at Disney and that's the important thing!
Exactly! We did this as well, and I have to admit it gave me a small glimmer of peace having a plan (even though I'm still super stressing along with everyone!)
