2016 Free Dining Watch ~ Part 2

Exactly. Ultimately only Disney knows what, if anything will be offered/released on Monday or whenever.

Thanks again for all your information. It really is appreciated. And I am not even looking for free dining this time around.

Either way, we've addressed the 8/14 date here over and over for more than a week now, so there are no surprises on the table. I even addressed that fact on Facebook a while back. If that's the only discrepancy, there won't be any surprises.

I still remember when Disney changed the date on a dime, not even telling Chase Visa, which left a lot of egg on Chase's face.

I would t worry about it. Whatever puts the most back in your pocket!

Definitely! I'd rather pass up free dining and have two or three nice sit down meals during our trip than spend so much on QS dining and tickets that we end up eating burgers and fries the whole trip. It sure is awfully convenient though.

I crunched the numbers for you and here is what I got.

POR - standard view - nine nights, 9/6-9/15 with 7 day water parks and more = $4,225.23

versus

POR - same room and tickets but only six nights - $3,583.95
YC - garden view (standard view wasn't available) - $1,370.25 but with a 30% discount it would be $959.18
total for 6 nights POR and 3 nights YC - $4,543.13

That would cost an extra $317.90 for a split stay, not $1,200. You would just have to add the cost of eating out of pocket. So I don't think you would eat an extra $900 worth of food in three days, would you? :)
Thank you!! Those numbers make more sense! I have crunched so many numbers these past few days! I did add about $500 for food and snacks, we will probably end up doing at least 1 character dinner.

So if rumors are right the up to 30% off starts Monday and the free dining. I know you can't have both. The %off can be booked on line but free dining is to be only by phone?

Actually, a general public release means everything can be booked online.

Well, that is, until the website crashes, which it inevitably does. But not to worry, the phone lines are almost sure to crash as well.

For sure. I remember the whole situation back in 2014 and what a mess it turned out to be.

I need to get some Disney gifs for our party! I have way too many Supernatural ones, lol.

You can never have too many Supernatural gifs!

ok, as long as you rub off on my wife. Am I the only disney obsessed hubby married to a woman who barely cares about going(had months of the 4 kids and myself convincing her to go this year).
There is a Dis Dads forum on this site where the dads can obsess over Disney and complain that their wives just don't get it. ;) They are a fun group of guys.

I've been following this even though our dates are in October (so no free dining)...just in case...now I'm intrigued by info that the RO discounts for October will drop on the 25th as well...last year the RO October discounts were released in July! Guess I will be joining others on the Monday early morning website checking!
If it is really true that they are going to release a room only discount through Nov 5th then that would be a big surprise. But Disney also excluded October and November from the room only bounce back for the first time ever, so maybe they want to make up for being so mean to us "room only" fans. Anyway, if they release 30% on the BC for the dates I want, then I'll be changing the dates of my October trip. :) I'm not holding my breath, though, since the BC has been completely sold out for my dates since February.

Ok I have my dates already booked through a travel agent, have my ADR's, flights, etc. I feel too out of control to rely on her so I'm going to try to book a new reservation. Will I be able to do that on MDE account? Or do I have to make another one? Is it going to block me from making another reservation at the same time?

You should be able to add a second reservation to your MDE account. I had two reservations for the same dates in my MDE account. I had a room only bounce back that I had booked through Disney. When Orbitz came out with a better deal, I added the Orbitz reservation and once it was safely in there, I called Disney and had them change that RO BB to a different resort and different time of year.

They were pretty bad Thursday at 7am........But I did manage to get through in 30 seconds....a new personal best!!!

To bad all the info was incorrect, would have been nice to have lost all that sleep for something...

There was no info to have correct. Visa dates are never mentioned in rumors. It's always been known that IF it's offered, it is the Thursday before a release (if the release is on Monday). In the past, it was a given, up until a couple years ago when they broke the trend of offering to Visa early. It was very clear that there was no leaked info to suggest one way or another....so folks did what they always do and call to check.

It's leading some to question the reason to have a Disney Visa in the first place, since that was always one of the perks.

I also calculated what it would cost to add the dining plan to the YC part of your trip and I think it was something like $585.00.
