2016 Free Dining Watch ~ Part 2

Anybody know off hand what the difference is between Deluxe dining and regular is per day? I'm trying to figure out if I can throw around some pixie dust and make deluxe dining at a deluxe comparable to deluxe dining at a moderate lol. I'm probably delusional :)
About $50 per night per adult.

I don't have a current discount, just have the "old" prices. I know that if I add free dining the new rates would be applied, but our savings will still be $1,000.

For $1000 savings I would be up from midnight til 7am on line and then on the phone. Hope you get what you are looking for. It sounds like you were planning on going either way. But trust me you will be able to get the discount.

I have 2 existing reservations (7 of us staying in 2 rooms) at Pop with the dining plan. If/when free dining goes live, will I be able to modify my current reservations online, as well as change resorts if available, without calling, as long as there are no computer issues? :scared:

How does free dining work? I know you get 1 qs, 1ts, 1 snack per day (on regular plan). I have heard something about appetizers and desserts. So, you get a dessert at each ts meal? Or an appetizer? Per person? I tried researching it, but I suck.

Let's just say that the 25th is the date for Visa Cardholders to book. Does anyone have experience in the past of when this goes live to book?

Clearing the browser cache regularly is important for multiple reasons but in particular with the Disney website it shows me old data. Especially if I've changed my package and it doesn't show the new version. This happens a lot in Chrome.
Is there a certain time I should do it? Right before I book?

I emailed a TA the afternoon of the FD release fiasco last year asking if there was any chance she could find something for us since I had been unsuccessful all day. 11pm that night she emailed me that she found availability at AS sports so we took it. 2 weeks later I found out dates had opened up at Pop for FD and she switched it no problems. Within a few days of the promotion dropping a lot of mods opened up too, even though the day of the promotion everything was booked solid. Hopefully this year is similar and everyone gets what we want!

I have seen info on split stays. Can you split stay during free dining without buying additional tickets.
If I stay at CBR for 6 days and CSR 6 days do I have to buy 3 day ticket each time?
Yes, you would have to buy tickets for both stays if you want free dining for each of them. And both sets of tickets would have to be park hoppers too. That would not be worth it at all. :(

Back again.
I am a solo, traveling 8/22-8/26 at the Pop. I currently have a room only deal for the 4 nights at $86 each. I plan to buy a 4 day Park Hopper regardless. My total on that if I kept my current room is $809.
If I understand this correctly, my discount is $28 a night, which would be offset if I rebooked at full price on Monday and added the free quick service dining plan. That's about the same deal either way, right? Two meals at $12 each and a drink? The only reason I can see for me to do this would be if I was able to keep my Awaken Summer room discount and get the free dining, but y'all say that won't happen.

So, should I upgrade my reservation from room only to package with Park Hopper tonight and take the chance I qualify for free dining or leave as it is and call it a day?
No, you really should wait until the deal drops. There is absolutely no benefit to cancelling your current reservation ahead of time. And you might change your mind and decide to keep it. Don't you get a special MagicBand with the Awaken deal? And you might not be able to get a cheap room at Pop with free dining. You really need to see what the cost is before you give up $86 per night. :)

Question on the bounce back offers. Is there any kind of minimum stay to be qualified or would a one night room only reservation at a value qualify as well?
Can you book more than one room? And
Also if I remember correctly the free dining ones were usually in September and October right? Thanks for all the help guys, You're all Awesome!!!
Do you want to know if you can book a bounce back reservation if you only stay at a resort for one night? The answer is yes. My daughter and my sister have both done it. DH and I went to Disney last August. We stayed two nights at POR and one night at YC. My sister joined us for one night. She was able to book the free dining bounce back for June. I was also able to book the free dining bounce back for June. Then we went back to Disney in October. Our daughter joined us for one night. She was able to book a bounce back, too. So we've had family members book bounce backs with one night stays. :)

Every adult in the room can book a bounce back reservation.

Last year's free dining bounce back dates went from late August to Oct 2nd. It also included a week in June. That is when we are going - June. :)

On a NORMAL day DW website updates/opens for new bookings at 6a.m. EST. But when FD starts is not a normal day. I've seen on here that in past years FD becomes available at various times 12am, 4am, etc. Phone lines always open at 7am EST. So to summarize, website gets you earlier access.

I hope that was an isolated incident. I've got my eye on Coronado for my upcoming trip.

We were just there in November, and it's still fabulous. My new favorite (that I can afford). :)

On the regular plan, dessert comes with the qs and ts meal, and is per person. On the deluxe plan dessert also comes with the qs and ts meal, however with this plan you also get an appetizer per person. With the deluxe plan, you get 2 snacks per person. Hope this helps!

So according to my wife I have a sickness. I keep reading all of these pages, commenting, telling her about the news and she sits there and says "but we already have free dining and our flights booked right?" "well yes dear we have our bounceback offer from last year but free dining will come available on Monday....." yup I have a sickness. It would be much easier if you please just shut down all threads about free dining....and if you could make it August 28th so we would be there, yup if you did that it would be great :)

Aug 28th...that's our planned check in date too. Trying for CBR I think (family of 5+1 and did POR last year). Why did I not book the bounce back??!! Because at the time we were so tired we swore we would not come back this year. And look at me now...trying to squeeze the budget to make it happen. Have you been before the week before Labor Day? We were there the week after Labor Day and crowds were ok, but also heard they were great the week before.

Oh my gosh! DH and I are huge Supernatural fans and have watched this parody way too many times to count!!!!

Here's a non dining question for all of you.... This is our first trip as a family of four. We took DD a few years ago when she was turning 3 and stayed at the Polynesian after we got a really good deal. Right now we are set to stay at AoA but I would love to stay at the Poly again, or even a moderate, but am curious about the families with small kids that all stay in one room. How does sleeping go? I would be worried that DD would keep DS up or vice versa. I know that a day in the parks would probably knock both of them out, but they aren't really good sleepers to begin with. Plus, DH tends to snore. Just curious how things go all sleeping in one room... :scratchin

Usually my kids are so worn out by the end of the night they sleep great! And we have 4 kids in one room. But I should add that at home they share rooms so they are used to it. A sound machine is a must for us!

That's the plan. Thanks, I hope so too. I haven't seen too many people with December dates, I'm sure there are plenty. And when I look at current availability it isn't booked completely like some weeks so hopefully that gives me a better chance. If all else fails I will try to the RO discount, $150 saved is better than nothing.

Visa Cardholders have to call in at 7am to book, you can't do it on-line. And there will be nothing on the Disney site saying it has dropped. We won't know until someone calls.

Don't the Visa Cardholders get an email too?
