2016 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: September 14 - November 14, 2016

Hi. Is there an event date at this time for Chef Morimoto ?? Thanks, Joan
It is September 17th at 4PM - it is one of the Mix It Make it things - they have not provided any other details - it could be making a drink or it could be sushi rolling.. as long as it is not pumpkin decorating

Hi, I was waiting for a date for him but I never saw it posted anywhere?? Do you have a link to the "Mix it Make it" of who is appearing when?? Thanks, Joan

Will be at F&W this year and looking at the "Tasting Sampler Package" that is $59+tax for eight (8) entitlements. It comes with a lanyard and special pin. Based on the price, that works out to about $7.50 per entitlement. Are the items for sale at the booths really that expensive. I thought I remember reading that they were more in the $4-6 range. With the exception of a few specialty items and the adult beverages, I'm not seeing the value. Am I wrong?

I could be wrong since this will be my first year at F&W but it seems like that price difference overall would probably "make up" for the cost of the included lanyard and pin, but just totally a guess. Otherwise, if it was the same exact price as the booth entitlements, they should just give the pin and lanyard to everyone entering World Showcase those days. I could be way off-base though.

You do it for the pin. There are strategies to try and get more out of it then what you paid, but it would be very time consuming to figure it out and is not worth it.

You have to pick and choose where and when to use this once we get pricing and restrictions.
For example the steak in Canada was 7.50 last year, lobster roll in US was also 7.50
Some of the mixed drinks are 8-11 dollar range
There are several champagnes that were in the 12-15 dollar range - I'm sure the $32 dollar one is excluded cant say about the others and it may change over the festival as well
Flights will most likely be excluded.
So if you do it right the pin will be free and you will be a dollar or two ahead - for me it is worth it - ill probably get two of them - maybe even three once we have prices and details
Since I would be gettign those things anyway Ill just make sure to only use it on items 7.50 and higher - not that big a deal
If you don't drink then it may not be worthwhile unless you have 4 steaks and 4 lobster rolls or really want the pin

Yeah I would think the reason most do it is for the pin - I don't collect them so I've never looked into it to see whether this particular package was really a savings or not. As Tony67 said above, if you plan it out as to what items to use it on, it definitely would make sense but also take more planning than some people might enjoy.

I decided that after last year it was not worth the hassle. It also felt rude to the people behind me in line for me to pay for one thing with this method and one thing with that method..... For the minimal savings, I will pass.

I'm planning to buy the sampler and use it for items that are priced higher than $7.50.

I couldn't care less about the pin. However, my trip is 7 days long and I'm planning to go to F&W at least 3 days, so I think finding 8 expensive items to purchase will be easy enough.

Actually unless you buy the mixed drinks it's not as easy as it sounds. And when I was there it was just too hot for me to want those sweet drinks.

We've never done an Eat to the Beat reservation before. Just reserved Teppan Edo for dinner to see Toad the Wet Sprocket on Oct. 22nd. Are the restaurant menus and pricing the same as normal for Eat to the Beat?
We're going to the festival this year because of Toad the Wet Sprocket! (I mean I love Disney but we were just there in June. I saw the Toad announcement after we got back.) They are my absolute favorite band I just wanted to say hi to another fan.

I have purchased both the wristlet festival gift card and last year, the full size one with the lanyard. I like the gift cards for several reasons:

1. I can control how much I spend. After you make a purchase, each receipt will show your remaining balance. You know what you started with and what you have left.

2. It is faster than any other method. No entering pins, signing receipts, waiting for credit cards to process.

3. While the Magic Bands are convenient, I prefer the gift cards for another reason. At the end of the trip, I don't get a resort folio which is many pages long because it has a bunch of small single purchases.
We purchased the smaller wristlet festival gift card and then added some more money to it. The question is: When you refer to the $200 full size, is it like the smaller wristlet gift card or is it a landyard that you wear around your neck?:confused3 If so, is that the only difference? I guess if you only wanted to spend for example, $150 then you would buy the smaller one with the ability to reload, rather than buying the $200 one and having the $50 left over for next year? Thanks in advance for additional infor!:goodvibes

Full size is talking about the standard size GC. There is a promotion if you purchase a $200 GC that you get some items for free that is why we were having this convo. We weren't sure if it matter if it was the small GC or the standard one.

I just wanted to add that if you buy the $200 GC and only spend $50 you can use that GC to pay down your balance for other stuff at the front desk or use it at restaurants. You don't need to save it for next year unless you want to.

Thanks for the info. Great that you can use it elsewhere if you have some balance left!:thumbsup2

The "special" gift card last year came on lanyard It was themed for the year and the lanyard had a "charm" for lack of a better term with the 20th logo. I still have mine and it "ma" have about $20 left. Guess I will find out this year. I kept the wrist one too so I must think there's money on it I have not actually been back since last year. (This is the LONGEST I have one without going to a Disney park in YEARS! I have been in the area, but... not to a park! )

The wristlet one was convenient, but I will be eager to hear when F&W begins, how people like the $200 one versus the wristlet one. Thanks!:cool1:

You can transfer the funds at disneygiftcard.com if you already have wristlet one or you can buy one and put $1 to activate and transfer the $200 if you find that more convenient.
