2015 FREE DINING THREAD _ All Questions HERE!!

Everyone keeps saying All Star Sports. I did Music this morning, are the rooms the same? My daughter's sports are taekwondo and gymnastics, it seems very football-ish to me. I feel like I am missing something.

I think you you will love Music! It was our first choice but then we switched last night because we decided to try something new. For one minute this morning, I was sad to not be going back but then excitement took over! The food court was just refurbished there last December and I think from the pictures that the theming is super cute and clever. I read that the music notes that are decorations are from Disney songs and there are musical instruments woven into all the decor in the food court. I love the pool in the Calypso area. It has a real tropical feel. There is a beautiful fountain and rose garden by the Jazz building. And you can find Ariel at the piano pool. We have always enjoyed our stays there! I hope you have a great time!

You are entitled to sevens days at a theme park and seven days at a water park/Disney Quest. You can go to a theme park the entire day, go to a water park or Disney Quest the entire day or a theme park for a portion of the day and then water park/Disney Quest for the remainder of the day. I don't think you can do Disney Quest and water park on the same day.

You will have a set number of entries to use at your leisure within 14 days from when your park ticket is first used, and your number of entries matches your length of days on your park ticket. For example, if you have a 5 day ticket, you have 5 days worth of admission to the 4 main parks, and 5 single entries for the WP&M options. So if you go to MK, Blizzard Beach and DQ in a single day, it would use one park day and 2 of your WP&M entries.
So if you have water park and more, and hoppers, this is different right? Can't remember how it has worked for us on past stays!

A "great deal" doesn't always mean money. As you said, you could stay off-property for the same price meaning that you are getting quite the upgrade to stay on property instead (no cooking, no driving, various other perks vs. staying off property). So you would have saved money with a mod, but your husband and your family will be very happy with the AoA suite. I think that means you got a great deal when you factor in value.
You are so right. I just ran my same packaged under the late summer discount offer and it is $337 cheaper because I wouldn't include the PH option, meaning I could spend $67 dollars a day on our lunch, dinner, and snacks and still come out the same vs. free dining (2 adults one child on QSP). I'm just telling myself now that it is for the convenience of not having to try and keep up with food money and worry about over spending that either way it comes out the same.

The hopper lets you visit any combination of the 4 theme parks in one day (MK, Epcot, HS, and AK). The WP&M portion gives you a certain number of visits to the water parks, golf, Disney Quest, or ESPN.

More magic just happened on the phone... 3rd time calling today... All the dead air hold times lol

If anyone has an Annual Pass you will save leaps and bounds over Free Dining by using Paid Passholder Dining with the new late summer discounted room only rate if your travel falls within the dates required for the new RO promotion

Originally Had CSR 4 day PH + FD = $1685

Changed it to CSR MYW AP Room only with Paid Passholder Dining and it went down to 1145

On a Whim I just called again and based on your stellar reviews went with

MYW Preferred Room POP (late summer discount) with Paid Passholder Dining Package (1-1-1 standard dining)
and now I am all the way down to $995 for my entire trip plus dining.. I've saved almost 700 dollars today with all your help and didn't even end up getting FD.

This is what it looks like in case your CM isn't aware...

Very nice deal!

I get that ... I was just thinking we had done DisneyQuest and a water park in one day in the past, but I am probably remembering wrong. :)

Do you only have to book for one of the days that Free Dining is offered to get your entire stay with free dining? I'm interested in the October dates but can't do those exact ones. I guess that wouldn't work?

thanks!

Anyone familiar with trip insurance? I didn't add it when I booked through Disney because I have read it's better to go third party. We're driving down so I need something that will cover if we have to cancel because of weather or if one of us gets sick and we need to delay or cancel once we're down there (something like the flu, etc). Anyone got any tips?

I've always gone to insuremytrip dot com because it presents you with many different insurance plans and prices and you can search to find one that covers exactly what you want for the price you want to pay. And it's very easy to sign up. I've gotten several policies for cruises in the past, I don't remember who specifically I've gone through, but I've found them by searching on this website.

We call that Peace of Mind ;) Priceless!

This is my first time trying for free dining. It will just be my dad and I. We had planned to go the week of 9/21-9/28 and staying at Pop. I just tried on the website for those dates and it says nothing is available for Pop. Should I just keep trying or are we completely out of luck now staying at Pop? I hope something will open up. Also, was there ever any UOC released for FD this year? That's what I've been waiting for and then suddenly today I see they just release the dates to the public right away.
Do you have some flexibility with your dates? eg can you change it up a day or two at the beginning or the end? Playing with dates might net you availability. Good luck!

You can do DisneyQuest and a Water park in the same day with the water park & more. That will just count as 2 of your entries.

Only your check-in date needs to be on an available free dining date and you will get it for your whole trip.
