2015 destash - Purge Purge Purge, Purge is the word

I cleaned out and organized my pantry last week.

MASTER BEDROOM

I cleaned out my drawers and got rid of some old Pj's , socks and undergarments and tossed those into the trash.
Cleaned out 3 shelves in my closet and got rid one grocery bag of junk. My bedroom is still a mess. Hubby's side of the closet is just a mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!. He had stuff infront of my closet sliding door so I cant get to one side. His side of the bed is by the closet and his side of the closet theres he has his chest drawer so onside of his closet is blocked and stuffed :/ I'm going to try to declutter my bedroom a lil at a time.

Tomorrow I plan on tackling the rest of my Den.Friday night I cleaned out the HOT SPOT under the den table. Dh put all the junkmail, ads, and junk. Then clear off the den entertainment center. Even going to have DH hit the fans for me and dust the blades. I'm going to try hard not to do it since Ive been having trouble with my asthma and the dust will make it worse.

I even had DD16 work on her room. I told her she can work on it a lil at a time until Tuesday. If its not done she can turn in her electronics until its done! She had all weekend to do it.

I'm really going to do my best by Springbreak to get my house in order. Summer will be focus on the outside shed and garage

I cleaned our master bedroom over the weekend. It looks so much better. I also cleaned out the fridge and freezer. Cleaned every drawer and shelf. It looks brand new.

My goal for this week is to get my bedroom under control. My bedroom also functions as my craft room, office, and whatever needs to be done room, so I've collected a lot of stuff that needs to go. I get too emotionally attached to my stuff even if I don't use it often, so it's going to be a challenge, but I'm feeling encouraged after reading through this thread! I've started by listing a few clothing items that don't fit on eBay.

bbuuhh bbuuhh dust bunnies today.

We cleaned out the upstairs landing. All around the tv the boys play their video games on and all the games.

Yesterday, I finally put the under the cabinet in the kids bathroom back together.

Tomorrow I will tackle the linen closet.

These threads can get really hard to follow once the 'reply to ten quoted posts at once' posts start showing up.
I think it is more getting used to the new software. Once we get used to the new looks and pictures it will be fine. That reminds me tomarrow when I see DD I will have to get her to add a picture for me. With the new software it is a must.

For all of you that are getting rid of clothes and household items: if you itemize your taxes, go to ItsDeductible through turbo tax to claim your items. It will give you IRS approved deduction amounts for EACH item, which are WAY higher than most of us would believe. For example, a Christmas wreath that I bought for 6.99 about 10 years ago is valued at 9.00. A pair of LEGGINGS is worth 19.00 if in excellent condition. Those numbers can really add up! You can start an account for 2015 and import it next year when it's tax time, or go back and input what you donated last year. And no, I don't work for turbotax, just trying to help out my fellow purgers. :thumbsup2

We bought the chairs and we're now sitting on them instead of the old ones, but still around the old table. It has a table cloth over top so we can't see how badly the chairs and table clash with each other. The old chairs are being 'stored' in the formal dining room for right now.

Last week I dropped two boxes of kid's stuff at a local consignment store. I ended up taking one box of stuff back and then put that with two boxes of adult clothes and a box of glasses and mugs and took them to the church's new Thrift Store as a donation. It felt great to get that stuff out of the house! I have two boxes downstairs to dig through and then donate this week too.

I think I'll keep plugging away at the kitchen this weekend as I notice I have a lot of stuff I no longer use and doubles of slow cookers, etc.

I've made a pact with myself: if sellable, put it on Varage Sale for 30 days. If it doesn't sell after that, it gets donated.

Where can I find Varage Sale,-Facebook?

There's an app I use on my smartphone. There may be a local Varage Sale community you can join in on. There is connectivity with Facebook as well.

Today I was able to get the linen closet done and also scrub clean the air mattresses

my lil guy was home sick with a fever today

tomorrow I'm going to try and clear off the buffet shelves and living room book shelf and do at least 2 loads of laundry

oh, I also ordered the shelves from IKEA to create more shelves in my baking cabinet,

so instead of have stacks and stacks of casserole dishes and all the baking sheets wedged in there sideways, I will have 5 shelves where I can lay the sheets flat :)

Boy...everyone has been very busy. I cleaned out our desk. Burned lots of papers and have the info for our taxes. Also cleaned the top of my dresser. I seem to be getting rid of things from every room, either donate bag or garbage.

I have a large garbage bag ready to be donated. I don't know why it's so hard to get rid of stuff. I'm going to have my 9 year old go through some things. She won't be happy.

Ds3 and I were really busy today. He got stuff down from the attic and we worked on it during the afternoon. We threw out 4 huge bags of stuff, have 1 bag of clothes to donate and one regular bag of stuff to donate. I guess we will do more tomm.

I'm jealous. I tried hard to find a cupboard where I could store my baking pans (jelly roll pans, cookie sheets, etc) upright between pegs and I didn't have a single cupboard tall enough that didn't have a big shelf down the middle. I guess arranging some shelving where I could lay each one flat would work too.

I finally sold a "spare" dining room table that I picked up for free a few months ago! Woman and her DH are coming for it tonight... ka-CHING... extra $50 into the savings! I also have a woman is promising to buy my DS's Rescue Heroes next week when she gets another paycheck. I gave her some leeway and told her to call me when she has all of the cash together, but I won't be surprised if I don't hear from her. But fingers crossed because I want them GONE and DS wants the cash!!

Found a new FB yardsale group locally that is specifically for scrapbooking supplies! Just in time, as I filled a box as I sorted through stuff the other day and was just a day away from donating it.... but a few extra $$ in my pocket would be MOST appreciated! I plan to list a bunch of it DIRT CHEAP this weekend.

Hope everyone else is doing well with the decluttering!....................P

Excellent progress today! We got done with all the bags in the attic. I think we threw out about 5-6 bags of junk! We wanted to get it done because ds starts his first real hospital nursing job on monday and he is so excited. Oh I found a disney dollar. I guess that and $3.00 will get me a mickey bar.

I'm having a hard time keeping up with the new layout and not being able to use the app. Looks like everyone has been making a lot of progress!

I sold 2 things on ebay and listed 4 more things today. I also made a bunch of phone calls today and tomorrow and Monday will be dropping off donations to a pregnancy resource center, goodwill, and 2 food banks (1 of them didn't have much need for the baby stuff I had so I called another one) so I'm taking food to one and baby supplies to the other. I don't feel like I have very much to give since it's divided so DS and I are going to go to Walmart tomorrow to buy more food and diapers to donate. So much stuff is going out by Monday I'm so excited!

I'm down to just one area of my laundry room having 'to get rid of' stuff. I've gone through every cabinet, drawer, closet, etc. over the past few years several times. Of course I keep finding more stuff to get rid of! It is SO liberating. I have a bunch of clothes to go to the local shelter again. Most of them are summer clothes so I'm holding on to them until it gets warmer. They have nowhere to store donations so giving them a bunch of summer clothes wouldn't really help right now. I'm going to go through DH's stuff that he pulled from his closet and separate out the winter stuff and see if they can take it. It takes a long time to get a hold of them though so I don't know how soon it will be gone.

I've also sorta adopted the 'use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without' mentality this year. I'm trying my darndest to actually use stuff we have and not buy anything we do need. Now if I could just keep my family from buying DS stuff we would be golden ;)

I've been chipping away at my scrapbooking/photo organizing project. I'm determined that by the end of 2015 everything will be organized. This will be the year I can say I'm DONE. I know it will be an ongoing process though. I've been working hard at maintaining my laundry routine and making sure everything is picked up/put away and dishes and everything are done so I start my day on the right foot.

I'm hoping to finish up some of these projects so I can follow a spring cleaning challenge this spring!

These shelves sound great! Do you have a link or an official name for them by chance? I tried looking around their site, but I'm not having any luck finding anything.

Thanks!
