2015 destash - Purge Purge Purge, Purge is the word

I too am over 6 months late to the game but I am Purging too. Started selling stuff on EBAY and am thinking about trying Craigslist. :)

Things have slowed down here... Not having much luck on Facebook or Craigslist. Maybe in the fall when it cools down and people start thinking about back to school. One of my co-workers had a yard sale across town today, am thinking I should have asked to bring a table and set up there so they could have advertised it as multi-family lol.

Just came back from camping with the Girl Scouts, our last official activity as a troop. I am working a lot of extra hours this week, but by next week I hope to collect and organize all of my Girl Scout craft supplies to hopefully give away to other Girl Scout leaders. DD was in GS for 6 years, so I've accumulated a lot, plus the stuff I inherited from a previous leader.

My clear spot in the basement got taken over by what we removed from the kids' rooms in order to paint. DD doesn't want her AG stuff in her room anymore. We are keeping everything, but I need to figure out a way to display it in the basement rec room. Off to Pinterest!

DS is a pack rat! He did at least allow me to put some items in storage and I hope to pull those items out in 6 months and get rid of at least some them. I know he's at a hard age where he still wants to keep his toys but he wants to grow up so he doesn't play with them.

I've been purging and reorganizing and now I've got storage containers I don't need! I'm gifting them to friends, one recently moved and the other has two small boys so I know they are needed. I will be very excited to see the empty spaces! I've also got a box of random stuff I don't need so I'm going to wait until it's full and then donate it.

So apparently photos are my downfall. I did get DS's Cub Scout pictures into his scrapbook (he quit 2 years ago!) but I know there is more somewhere! I still have a few empty pages in that book so I'm not worried. However, I scrap booked all of his professional pictures from sports and finished that book so now I have to buy more pages. I still have a ton of Disney pages to do, I'm about 3 trips behind! I did get about 80% of all my other pictures into albums. I'm going to buy another album or two and finish that as well.

Apartment living has really forced me to get rid of "stuff". I eliminated a lot of Christmas stuff last year and hope to get rid of more this year. I think I used everything that I put away but who knows.

Last night and this morning I was working on spare room. I have 3 large Holister bags almost full of clothes to donate.. Dh clothes, my clothes and dd's clothes. Those are just the stuff I've had list but didn't sell so it's time to donate . I'm also thinking of doing a bag of old toys.

I wanted to try making extra money but it's a lot if working organizing the clothes by size and price, taking pics and loading to different sites :/ I'm just ready to be done with it all lol! I still hv to hit the garage. There's a lot of clothes that will be donated and there's a box of dd's old toys in good condition. I walked through the garage which normally dh takes it out and wow! Pile high of junk!!! Broken stool that he shoukd have thrown out 2 years ago. I also saw dd's old plastic art desk which shoukd sell fast I hope, a large fake tree in planter it's a nice quality one, gonna try and sell that. Going to try and convince hubby to sell the fooseball table. Just those 3 items alone would make a difference with space

We finally got our new recycle can this week!! We were using the small carry ones but our town got a contract with a new company and we finally got the new barrel on wheels. I filled that bad boy to the top with the last of the DVD cases and next week I start tackling the huge cardboard pile in the building, I'm tired of having to dig out the lawn mover from under boxes.

Rummage sale is going well. I keep finding little things here and there to bring with me to the school every day. Now I just have to keep my kids from bringing stuff back home. I'll be glad when rummage sale is over though, August will be spent splitting and stacking wood for winter. I have got to get moving on that pile. Plus we lost 3 trees in a storm a few weeks ago so that clutter is taking over the outside of the house. I need to dig my wood chipper out soon for the small stuff.

This morning I had a bunch of stuff for DH to toss out so why is there still so much junk-lol!
Todays goals......
-Dining area
-curio cabinet drawers
-mini cabinet drawers
-mini bar cabinet

-Pantry

Garage
-go through 2-3 boxes

Last year I though I was being smart and bought lil stuff on sale for christmas gifts extras. I found but no slip fuzzy socks for .50 each for pack of two so I stocked up for coworkers. I put everything in a large Chritmas bag so I wouldn't lose ny of it. Well we went on vacation during Christmas and things were crazy and rushed. It was our first time being away for the holidays. well I foun the large bag full of stuff brand new so once I'm done decluttering, I hope to spend one day getting lil gift bags ready with the items that were in the bag and start getting things ready for Christmas.

I also have a bag of Halloween stuff to that I plan to prepare a month in advance

anyone doing great today decluttering???

I did the dining room. I tried working some more in my spare room but I felt frustrated and had to walk out. Today I just felt all over the place. I'm wondering if I should just start where the biggest mess is, which is the garage. Hubby thinks I should. Then slowly move everything out of the spare room and put it into the garge and hit that pile next. He think I will feel better getting the room cleared out and organized. I have 3 weeks left before I go back to work. I'm going to try and see what I get done this weekend. I'm at the point where I just want to donate everything-lol!

I organized the Girl Scout craft supplies I want to give away, and I ended up with 2 1/2 grocery bags of paper to recycle. Why did I still have the girl info from 2011? :confused3 I emailed the two leaders from my school. What they don't want I will offer to the rest of my service unit, and if no luck there, the council at large. Our council is kind of large actually, but DH works at one end, my dad's nursing home is at the other end, and we live more or less in the middle. I will be happy to deliver to someone who can use the stuff, as long as it leaves my house!

My friend picked up 2 storage carts plus a game DS doesn't play with anymore and I brought a coworker some empty photo boxes. I also found some random clothes that don't fit DS anymore so I brought them in for a different co-workers DS. I'm excited because I have so much more space in what is supposed to be my dining room. I have more to do before I'm happy but I'm getting there. Se

I haven't been on for a while. I gave away a lot of stuff when I emptied my classroom in June, but my basement is STILL full of things that 1) I couldn't emotionally part with (think books, books, and more books), and 2) my daughter(s) might need and 3) storing for one who honestly has no storage space of her own. Once the new (school) year has begun, I will make a concerted effort to declutter more. That said, I found a box of stuff today that had birthday/anniversary cards from 6 years ago. I kept my 25th anniversary cards, but threw the rest of the box away. Small steps. Tiny steps. Teeny steps. But at least they are steps forward! ::yes::

Selling on the Facebook sites and Craigslist has been very slow for me lately. I've only sold a couple of items of clothing....grrrr. Our block is having a neighbourhood garage sale this coming Sunday - but we leave for Oregon for 5 days of camping that morning :( It seems an awful lot to ask one of our neighbours to try and sell some of our stuff along with their own and keep track of how much we made so I guess we'll miss out. They (the neighbours organizing this) didn't give us much notice about the sale though, we only booked the campsite just over a week ago and we found out about the sale 4 days ago. It's too late the change the dates on our campsite. Oh well.
I've been very lax about letting the papers pile up, I've got tons of school stuff to go through and my girls have been out of school for a month now. Bad!! lol Need to get my butt in gear!

I tried to sell clothes on Buy/Sell/Trade Board and one group I belonged to is a Plus Size Board. It kills me when I get a response back a few months later. I guess I have to have more patience.
I am trying to declutter more of my clothes. I have been trying it on and if I don't like the way it looks, I have been putting it in a bag. Now I have to decide if I want to take pictures and tag it for reselling or just give it to Good Will.

Anyone know if down hill ski's and boots are worth anything. The ski's and boots are 10 years old. My dd told me to get rid of them. Just don't know what to do with them.

In the past couple of weeks I've had the kids go through board games, DVDs and CDs they're done with. Posted on Facebook and some of my friends with younger kids took a large chunk of them. Glad to get them out of my house and that someone I know can use them. We still have so much stuff though!

I finally hit the garage!!!:yay: I filled 5 boxes to donate of clothes, house stuff and toys. I still have a few more boxes to go through and some stuff to post on craigs list and FB. The pile looks so much better. I got rid of one kitchen trash bag of trash, heart broken basket and 3 plastic containers. Hopefully tomorrow and Friday I can go through more stuff. I also have a grocery size bag of food to donate

I’m new to this thread. This week I ditched all my work (I’m self-employed) and cleaned out my hall closet and cleared the entire floor of the “toy” room, as well as a few other small de-cluttering tasks. I’m hoping that the toy shelves can be done over time with the kids helping but that may be wishful thinking. At least for now we can walk into the room and play in it and my hall closet can be opened without being attacked by falling object. I’m learning the lesson of how being disorganized costs money. I think I found about 10 tubes of Neosporin just in my hall closet. I must have just kept buying them thinking I didn’t have any when I had a lot. My kids are getting new beds this week so they have been forced to clean out their rooms. Downfall is that my guest room is now a disaster. Upside is that I have to clean out the guest room before my mother in law visits in 2 weeks, so I know it will get done. After that I have to tackle the master bedroom, closets and the bathrooms. I have a lot to do but I’m feeling like I’ve made good progress. Now if I can just get back to my paying job and get ready for my disney trip that is less than a month away.

My Girl Scout leaders are going to take all of the supplies! :cool1: Now I have a retired music teacher friend who would like to give me some teaching materials she no longer uses. I had told her I knew of some young teachers who might be able to use them. I am waiting for her to get back to me with more details, then I will see who wants what. I am willing to transport materials to the schools, but I am not storing stuff at my house! :sad2:

Once the Girl Scout supplies are gone, I will have a staging area to pack up books and journals (work related) that I can donate to programs in foreign countries. 19 years in my field is a LOT of journals!

We visited our friends who take DD's outgrown clothes for their girls, and I forgot the clothes! Luckily, they are coming to our house on Sunday, and 3 bags will go home with them!

I got DS's laundry sorted. He is taking all of it to his grandparents house this weekend and they will teach him how to do laundry and fold his clothes. This is a cost savings and a time saver for me. He has 3 baskets of dirty clothes! No idea why. I also went through his closet and straightened up.

I then started on my paperwork. I got rid of a grocery bag full last night and a handful this morning. I sorted everything that stayed into 3 boxes, action needed, shred, and file. My goal is to finish that this weekend. If I finish that ill have a tote emptied and available for other stuff.

After I finish the paperwork, I'm going to reorganize the desk and work on a photo project for my living room. I may start on making Christmas gifts. I usually give my sister a photo gift of some sort and I like to start on them early. I get busy with work for 6-8 weeks and am left with minimal time before the holidays.

I'd also like to attack my closet. I know I need some new shirts, the ones I wear now are looking pretty bad. If I inventory what I do have hopefully I won't spend too much! If I could lose about 15 lbs I'd have more that would fit!

My apartment is looking so much better without all this "stuff"!
