I always start this thread SO EARLY I know but I do tend to shop/return/shop so early so it only seems fitting....I kept notes last year of my Christmas Hits and Flops and vowed to not get sucked into the LITTLE CUTESY Gifts because they end up homeless and cost adds up on them

I only have one child, DD16, and this will be the hardest Christmas ever to surprise her with anything. She is not a girly girl, loves the store Hot Topic but honestly how much can you accumulate from there anyway? Loves or did love retro video games (Mario and Pokémon and such) and goes to a private school with uniforms so clothing ideas only take me so far.

THis year I was looking to do something different like NEEDS READS and WANTS or something like that. I always do a gift that relates to old childhood passions (small lego set or cute retro toy etc). She absolutely loves music and has different guitars...Was thinking of a ukulele ?

As you can see my list needs serious help. Anxious for your ideas!!!

I have a daughter. There is this polaroid camera by Fuji at urban outfitters that kids love. How about some wild leggings, that is a very hot item. 16 is a great year for concert tickets. A designer pair of sunglasses. A kate spade purse. They seem to like special edition collectibles, figure out her favortite band and see if there is a signed poster or something on Ebay. An Apple watch.

Monogram everything is all the rage here! I've already placed my order with MarleyLilly.com - fleece jacket, iphone case, hair bows for dance. I'm still hunting a monogram necklace, just haven't found anything I like yet.

My DD12 has mentioned the polaroid camera too, but I'm on the fence. It's pricey and the refill film is pricey too. I'm still thinking on that one.

She's getting a few things for dance company and the competition team that she's required to have so she's knows they'll be under the tree.

I always go WAY, WAY overboard. Having an only child makes that really easy to do...

I look forward to seeing what people are giving!

Dd19 loves the ukalele we bought her at 16. We also have a second one for others to play.

My DD that age would love a Sephora gift card, or an Ulta gift card. According to her, you can NEVER have too much makeup. Insert eye roll here.

I also tend to think in terms of experiential things. Tickets to a touring Broadway show, or concert?

Have one nearly 15 who also plays guitar, loves to read, & loves Hot Topic.

Guitar case?
Better amp?
Concert tickets?

Ours will be getting more Hot Topic stuff to be sure.

For my almost teen niece, she said she wanted cow posters to decorate her room. So we're taking a picture of her with the cow she cared for at a summer camp and putting that on canvas for her room. We're giving her a book too (everyone gets books from us). Also, the kids are going to make her some bath salts with rosemary for soaking her feet after dance.

I'm thinking some Beats headphones, clothes, Itunes giftcards and maybe a few other little things. There's not much that she wants for anymore.

I had to smile reading this. this is EXACTLY what DD16 then 15 got last year! New electric guitar, case, concert tickets and a hot topic gift card! LOL! Great mind think alike!

Concert tickets, itune and starbucks gift cards. Winter boots and some clothes from A&F or one of the other teen mall stores. Will renew her beautybox. As said, can never have enough beauty items.

Thanks for this list. Teens are so hard to buy for, but can buy so much for.

Oh, if you have a teen boy, my DS who really likes video games, got a kick out of the loot crates I have sent him.

My DD(just turned 13 past weekend) wants wireless beats. So we will get that, hopefully a deal on black friday, and some other smaller things.

Which beauty boxes are the best for teens?

Has anyone found a decent nair art kit that isn't for little kids? I am thinking I may just build my own by seeing what tools are used in some of the you tube how-to videos.

My DD16 loves Hot Topic, Ulta, Sephora, Itunes, clothes and more clothes.....she also doesn't need / want much this year other than a car! She'll be getting mostly gift cards and clothes. She has so much, but she loves The Lion King. I took her to Harambe Nights last year and she loved it. Anyway, the Broadway Touring show is coming near us in February and tickets go on sale in November. Tickets to the show will be her big gift this year. We will make a weekend of it with some shopping. We are thinking Spring 2016 for a car for her and it will be more for our own convenience than hers.

We usually do thing you want, thing you need, thing you wear, thing you read. However this year to keep the grandparents under control :) we are letting her redo her room from top to bottom.

I did the BoodleBox for DD last year for Christmas. I did the box for teens. She has LOVED getting that box every month and she's received really great stuff!

What do u think of wii u for 16 year old? Loves Nintendo has ds old wii and xbox but never plays xbox. Prefers to game with friends but wii u would be family friendly or is this too young? Bundle at Walmart has the new mario game that looks cool. Thoughts?

I admit I am almost done with Xmas shopping for DD15 - I picked up a few things here and there throughout the year as I found great deals. She has one big "want" - a Michael Kors purse - that I wasn't going to humor at first, but I stumbled across an absolutely ridiculous deal on it at Macy's a few weeks ago, so I grabbed it and that killed most of the rest of the budget I had for her.

Other things I have for her:
Cruiser bike - she has been hemming and hawing about did she want one or not. I made the executive decision that she was getting one when I found a great deal on a totally cute bike. I'm hoping it will get her out of the house more, riding around the park near us or down to a new mini-shopping center being built just down the street from us.
Bluetooth headphones - will make us both happy. 'Nuf said.
A really good digital camera - she has expressed an interest in learning photography, this is a tester camera to see if she really takes to it. It is packed with features, just short of a DSLR. I can upgrade her to a true DSLR in a few years if she really gets into it.
Sonic toothbrush - she has an obsession with her teeth, so she'll love this.
Abercrombie sweatpants and sweatshirt - what girl (or Mom!) doesn't love a good pair of sweats?
New hairdryer and curling wand - her current ones are on their last legs
Driving lessons - she is eligible for her learner's permit around Thanksgiving, by Christmas she'll be ready to start driving lessons proper. Here in CA it is required that new teen drivers have at least 6 hours of driving lessons with a professional instructor, and it's not offered through her school, so that means I get to pay. Might as well make it part of Christmas! So I'll make a certificate, and add a cute key ring and her own key to my car. Haven't decided whether to wrap it as a gift yet, or put it in her stocking...if anyone has any cute packaging ideas, let me know!

I'll probably pick up a few other small things here and there, but nothing else big. She also gets a lot of stuff from family, including a few big ticket items usually, so this is MORE than enough. I expect on her family list will be more Converse (pretty much the only shoes she wears), a new Penny board (small skateboard), some clothing, some items for her room like a new comforter, Google Play giftcards and some makeup. She might also add a new iPod (her current one has some issues) and a new cellphone (just the newest Moto G - it's a great phone).

A good general idea for teens is a bluetooth speaker, if they don't already have one. DD uses hers constantly. Hence the need for the headphones LOL

In my kids' HS, the girls who drive all wear Vera Bradley lanyards with their car keys attached to the end. Maybe girls at your DD's school do something similar?

I have two teen DDs. I bought one a hanging makeup bag that rolls up to put in a suitcase. (She is a competitive cheerleader and has several multi-day competitions out of town.)

I also got both girls a Clarisonic Mia 2 for washing their faces. I got one last year and LOVE it! I was able to get them from Nordstrom during their Anniversary Sale so saved quite a bit. Sephora carries them, too. I got mine there in a bundle with several cleanser samples so, even though they might not be reduced in price, there are some extras included.

My oldest DD is a Senior this year, so I have also been slowly getting some dorm room decor as I find things on sale. I may put a cute decorative pillow or similar under the tree.

My teen girls have asked for Skoshbox subscriptions. They love Anime, Manga and Japanese culture so a box of Japanese snacks each month is very exciting to them.
